Carson Schwesinger has gotten off to a slow start in terms of tackles. Is this what we should expect all season? Or can we expect his production to increase?
I've been asking the same question but we shall see this week. Green Bay has been a good matchup for opposing LBs. They’ve yielded 17 tackles/gm to the position.
I think its more matchup based. He will get better IDP wise as the season goes. He is aging 100% snaps. He will get there.
In the meantime I don't mind sitting him until he starts turning it around and becoming IDP relevant. This is what I am doing. I have Dennis, Werner, and D. White that have allput up good numbers each week to play over him until he gets it going.
Browns' Carson Schwesinger Making Strong Early Case for DROTY Award
... He's leading the team with 23 tackles, while chalking up two tackles for a loss and a sack through three games. His value against the run and the pass is nearly identical, with PFF grades of 77.8 and 72.0 against the run and pass, respectively. Not only that, but Schwesinger is second on the team's defense in total snaps played.
It is still early (we are only in week 6)... but I am beginning to think that Schwesinger is a solid, cerebral NFL LB. But maybe a better real life player than in IDP. And not the difference maker I had hoped for. In recent years I have learned to temper my expectations for rookie LB's (looking at you Jack Campbell), but with all of the tackle opportunity I expected to come Schwesinger's way as a rookie, I thought he might immediately reward us with better box scores. I do think the Browns' run defense is a good bit more stout than was expected. But also think they should continue to be on the field a lot with rookie QB play now.
Not jumping ship by any means. Just think the talent level (and production) may not be quite to the level I had hoped it might be. All ears on others take.
It seems like there quite a few stat crews that go heavy on assists over solos. Sherwood had a recent game with 1 solo and 9 assists. I was watching the game and I would have had him with at least 5 solos. I am not sure what is going on but it seems like there are more assists being handed out instead of solos this year.
