UPDATE ON OUR FOSTERS:

Winston (white/orange) went to his new home (the one where they already had 1 of our fosters from a yr ago)   The 2 cats have “bonded” & our getting along great. The owner posts pictures every day on the cat’s Instagram account (see pictures)

The other 2 went up for adoption at our local Petsmart & both got adopted within 24 hrs!

Will be Taking a break, but plan to do it again soon

it is going to be REALLY hard to give these guys up.

they came to us so young and small, they've really grown up with us. so sweet, ridiculously cute and just all around great, socially happy and easy cats.
They've become part of the family, but will likely get adopted this week together. It's going to break my heart, tbh...they're amazing.  But 4 cats is too many cats. And we wouldn't be able to keep fostering, which I think is important for us to do. But I'd be ok if the adoption fell though...

Fostering our 6th set of kittens. But this time we have 4 Gingers!! Their names are:

  • Prescott (male)
  • Page (female)
  • Sedona (female)
  • Yuma (female)
They are almost 8 wks old
We already have 1 of my daughter’s professors who is committed to take both Prescott + Page.
Plus we have a friend who is taking Sedona.
And another friend of a friend who wants Yuma & will come visit later this wk.

1st time that all of our fosters Will already have a home ….Who knew Gingers were this popular?

Cool stuff. It unusual to have so many orange females. I think something like 80% of oranges are male.

we've been pestering the ACC for kittens- but somehow they've come up empty. had an opportunity to take 6 and their mom... but hell no! we offered to take 3, but there were plenty of people ready take them all (a great thing), so we missed out.

we're all completely jonesing to do another round of fosters even though we all still really miss the last two batches of two.

I have heard that stat about ginger females too.

The word on the street is that orange males typically aren’t the sharpest tool in the toolbox. So far that seems a little true.

this dude begs to differ. except he's convinced "differ" means treats.

Our big orange male is dumber than a bag of hammers, but also one of the most affectionate cats I've ever met. I'll take that trade.

Big boy just used the litter on his own for the first time. We've had to help him pee and poo until now. I didn't know mom cats taught their kittens this stuff.

He's a good little dude.

My orange one is dumb as well

Our other one (she’s like what you find on r/basicissuecat) is obsessed with carrying socks around the house. Come home after work socks all over the place

We had to say goodbye yesterday to our 11 YO female kitty Galilea, who had complete kidney failure. This is my first time ever having to do that. My wife and I are heartbroken. It was so difficult. Our 18 YO female kitty is still doing well. It’s going to be tough for a while.
Sorry to hear. Had to put my cat down 2 years ago for kidney failure. First time for me. It was horrible. I get misty just thinking about it.

we put our 19 year old cat down today.

She might be 19 to the day. We found her as a kitten the first week of June 04, in a cement mixer in front of my old house. The vet estimated she was between 3 and 3 and a half weeks old, so May 12 is as good as any day i guess.

it's a little (ok a lot) sad here today, and I'm a little drunk, but that's ok.

All 4 gingers were adopted & picked up last wk. We gave them Foster Names of 4 AZ cities….surprisingly all 4 are keeping their names.

Gingers are the best. Female gingers are somewhat uncommon (80% are male), so it’s crazy you had three of four be females.

This is all my wife wants.. buff/Tabby kittens.

Great they all got adopted!

Our two are still too young/small to get fixed and put out for adoption (I think they're around 7 weeks). And the newer one has been sick- the runs, not eating and losing weight- the last couple days. Still energetic and kittening around with his buddy, but not a happy camper.

Place that runs our foster group tells us they have be 3 lbs each to get fixed. That’s typically 11 wks old
And then they get adopted at 12 wks old.

As for your kitten w the runs, it’s common for them to have digestive issues when their systems are still developing. But pls check back w the person that runs the foster group. We’ve had this happen & they would give us Pyrantel or Panacur that you give to the kitten.
If you don’t it may also spread to the other.

@El Floppo pls post an update on the 2 foster kittens you had
The ACC was ready for them to come back into cages and sit and wait for adoption...I'd say late June. No guarantee of adoption, and less of them going together.

My wife hit up all of the social media she knew, and the weekend (days) before they were going, we got a reply from people in the alum group of the school my kids go to... Interested in only one because one of their 3 had died.

Lovely (cat-loving) couple and college aged daughter came by and the kittens put on the perfect kitten show for them, playing like mad, super lovey with them, and finally snuggling into their laps curled up together for a nap.

They only wanted one... But I sold them on how happy they were together and how it would help them integrate, and vice versa, with their other two cats.

They took them both to their big house in CT, and have been sending pics and updates periodically. An absolutely perfect ending for us, and definitely the kittens.

I'll try to upload some pics

My poor sweet Bruno. Just found out this weekend that he has congestive heart failure. I noticed his labored breathing last week. Took him to the vet and the ultrasound picked up fluid around his lungs. Opted for the meds to try and remove the liquid, but finally took him to the emergency vet today because he was struggling a bit more. They drained about 6 to 8 ounces from around his lungs and the fully confirmed congestive heart failure. I have no idea how much time we have left but I’m a mess.

Picked him up from the Chicago animal shelter when he was approximately 9 months old. He’s turning 10 in December.

RIP little buddy, you will be missed.

Had to make the call yesterday. The fluids came back and he had trouble breathing and being comfortable. It was hard because he was still eating and sitting in the window watching birds...but I knew he was struggling.

Didn't even notice this thread until now. Was out walking my husky mix, Summit, a couple of months ago and a tiny kitten came stumbling out of the bushes in a park in a spot not near any homes. Thing was covered in fleas, could barely walk, but came right up to us. I tried calling the humane society, animal control, anyone, but couldn't get through. Waited for an hour or so to see if a mother came around, nothing. Posted it on a local FB page for lost animals, and within an hour had a foster lined up for the next day.

We took her home, and the wife said "somebody has to take it to the vet, might as well be us." Of course the next appt was two days later. You can guess how this ends.....with her coming home from the vet saying "I bought the $600 kitten package".

The thing was barely a pound at the time. We put her in the bathtub since we wanted to keep the two of them separated unless supervised until we were confident Summit wouldn't eat her or something. After about a week of that we were comfortable that they were going to be fine, and here we are a couple of months later and while I wouldn't say they are buddies, she sure loves messing with him and he mostly just puts up with it.

And since :useless:......

First night

Are you trying to get eaten?

Are you trying to get eaten (part 2)?

Nightly zoomies

Chilling together
