Cedric Benson Is Not a "Sell High" (1 Viewer)

Today's the days fellas. His first c-note on the ground and at least 1 TD. Benson begins rewarding his owners this week.
What other players did you draft? So I know who to trade away.
:goodposting: Unkey needs to post his roster so we can start moving guys. Unless his RBs were Benson, Ryan Williams, David Wilson, Wells and Best, with WR of Santonio Holmes, Jacoby Ford, Amendola, and V. Brown, with Kevin Boss and T. Heap at TE and a kicking team of Bullock and Keading - in which case, we have it covered.

@Cedric_Benson Out of the boot now. Back to walking in normal shoes very gratifying!

Anyone have thoughts on whether it's worth picking him up for the stretch run? He was dropped in many leagues.

IF he's back by week 13, he's got Min, Det Chi, Ten. Currently 22nd, 26th, 32nd, and 3rd in terms of points allowed to RBs. Not great matchups but GB is a pass first team anyway. So it's up to whether you feel Benson is talented enough to overcome those defenses and give you solid points over what you have for the playoffs.

Any updates on Benson - planning on using Alex Green during Peterson's bye next week.
He's supposed to be back week 14 :shrug:I'm pretty happy to have him on all of my teams right now for that playoff run, picked him up today in the 2 leagues I didnt have him in. He's much better/more worthwhile than the 1-2 week waiver fodder out there in my deep leagues.

Yep he's on track if not a little ahead. Oct. 29th was the latest report I saw. The guys seem to think he's worth 20/30% of your budget according to the waiver wire show. Its seen to be a smart move to get him.

McCarthy said today everything is on schedule for Benson but there is no timetable yet on when he'll return. But I agree that if he's on your WW and you think you'll need some RB help in Weeks 14-16 grab Benson now. I would expect him to regain his starting lineup for the Packers if healthy.

Timetable info here - sounds like Benson is now shooting for being back week 15 against the Bears, although it is "possible" he might be ready for week 14 against the Lions. Obviously, no one wants to be starting him his first game back against the Bears. That leaves week 16 against the Titans, if all goes well. Sounds like a big gamble.http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3139/cedric-benson
In redraft it's almost not worth adding him. Week 15 you won't start him because it's his first game back and, to make matters worse, GB plays Chicago. Week 16 Benson gets the Titans, who are generous to RBs, but it still would take some guts to start him - even as a flex - in your championship game. I guess you could sign him as depth in case you lose an RB to injury but hopefully you're not that thin at that point. And you likely wouldn't want to sign him that soon because roster spots are at a premium for good backups or matchup plays.

Benson had 15 points in PPR in the first game against the Bears. The Titans should be a dream matchup for the Packers' running game. At worst, a healthy Benson is a very viable RB3 those two weeks. If you're in a league which goes into Week 17 his value goes up. There's definitely risk involved with Benson because we don't know how healthy he'll be when he returns but I think he's worth if you need some RB depth or you're looking for some potential help the final 2-3 weeks of the season depending on your league format.

The bad thing is it's the playoffs; there's no time to see how the Packers will use him upon his return. Will he immediately get back most of the carries? Probably not, especially in week 15. Maybe in week 16 Starks and Green get pushed out of the picture but but the championship game isn't time to take risks.

If he's healthy I'd expect Benson to regain his starting job. He looked much better than Starks and Green have so far this season. That could change between now and when he returns but assuming Starks continues to be James Starks (Green's a non-factor at this point) then I would be surprised if Benson wasn't the lead back upon his return. Those will also be critical games (especially the Chicago one) so I would assume the Packers would want their best players on the field.

Playoffs are 4 weeks away for most of us. RB depth is likely to be the biggest issue and there is a lot of football to be played. People who scoff at a potential week 14-15-16 starter on playoff caliber team now are going to be kicking themselves later. It does depend on your RB situation and roster sizes. In one of my 3 leagues, Benson is a fit.

He's tartgeting the Bears game for a return in week 15. I guess if he came back and showed something that week I'd feel confident enough to plug him into week 16 Super Bowl week. However more than likely he will be eased back into the lineup week 15 after such a long time off and probably week 16 as well.

Benson's actually hoping he can return in Week 14 and get some snaps against the Lions. My guess is he does return and gets some snaps in that game and looks good he'll be full go in Week 15 vs. the Bears.

Packers | Cedric Benson injury update

Sat, 17 Nov 2012 09:28:49 -0800

Updating a previous item, Green Bay Packers RB Cedric Benson (foot) said he is still not ready to resume practicing; however, he is hopeful of returning for the team's game Dec. 16 against the Chicago Bears. "I'm kind of looking and thinking the Bears game," Benson said. "I think we're still a little bit out from practicing, from putting on a cleat and pounding on it like that. I think we're still a couple of weeks away from that, but very close, very close. Kind of the way the doctor puts it to me all the time is regardless of anything, whether you could play tomorrow, you've still got three weeks where you can't play."

Packers | Cedric Benson making progress

Fri, 16 Nov 2012 19:32:35 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Cedric Benson (foot) is not running yet, and he is staying cautious for now. Benson is using a "high-tech" treadmill, and on the device, his injured foot doesn't need to absorb his full body weight. He can adjust the percentage. Right now, he is at 65 percent body weight on that treadmill. Benson would not put a specific timetable on his return, but said "absolutely" he wants to play again this season.

those two aren't really promising I don't think. It looks like he is hoping to get some play in the Bears game and presumably ramp up from there. I'd assume that, as a guy who usually racks up points as a volume player, he might merit deep flex consideration in week 16 only

From RW:

Cedric Benson (foot, I.R. designated for return) hasn't ruled out surgery.

Uh oh. Benson is eligible to return in Week 14, but that's suddenly looking very shaky. He's going to visit a specialist later this month. Lisfranc injuries are among the toughest to come back from in football, and often necessitate surgery. Perhaps CedBen can put off going under the knife until the offseason, but owners can no longer assume he'll play again this season. His status should be updated in the coming days. If Benson ends up being done for 2012, the Pack will be left with perhaps the league's worst backfield duo in James Starks and Alex Green.

Eh. Only way I'd play him is if I was in desperation mode and needed RB help. Guess it depends on your roster situation.
He's an able body available (if he is able). So I put him on the bench. He would be a desperation play if any of my starters suddenly got hurt but he's probably better than some of the backups. If the surgery is true then he's another drop guy. No worries.

My assertion was I didn't think he'd be healthy enough to make an impact. Come back in week 15 and then as you state, if your in RB trouble week 16, you throw him out there and pray.
