Not sure I really want to hold onto him. I mean I kept Kenny Irons from last year hoping he would be doing something this year. That didn't work out. Is Benson worth holding onto in hopes he goes somewhere? It appears it will be because someone gets injured.

I find it kind of doubtful. No team want a slow, overweight, out-of-shape, underperforming, drunken headcase. Plus there are a few better options still out there, although at this point, it's definitely the bottom of the barrel for FA RBs.

was wondering about him, along with Shaun Alexander and Ron Dayne. My league is start 3RBs, and by midseason any back getting touches is gold.

Non RB related, keep waiting for the venerable Eddie Kennison to land somewhere. Guy is/was a permanent fixture on the FBGs undervalued WR list.

Most teams wont want to chance any locker room distraction. Someone will but its up to Benson to prove he can stay out of trouble and show a positive image of himself.

i keep wondering if the broncos won't take a look at him, given torain's injury.

the broncos may have the worst RB depth in the league and shanny's a guy who's taken on plenty of "problem" guys before.

i don't know if benson will get signed anywhere, but denver seems as likely a place as any

I'm sure he'll get a couple of try-outs from now till next yr; but I don't picture him playing much... if any NFL ball again.

Two problems. 1. They still have the bad taste of Travis Henry in their mouths. Its not a good time to bring in Benson.2. Denver evalueates RBs differently than other teams. Unless they see the specefic traits they like in Benson, they wont sign him. The way the Bears pick their RBs, I dont like the odds.

I've always thought Benson would be a good fit for the Broncos. IMO, he would excel in a zone blocking scheme and fits what the Broncos like to do in the run game. Benson is effective when he makes one cut and goes; sometimes running over his own teammates. Unfortunately, he doesn't have good vision of the field which limits his ability to make people miss but if anyone could bring out the best of Benson it would be Shanny. Now whether or not Benson would display the passion to run hard for Shanny is another matter, but I've always wondered what Benson could have accomplished with a solid O-Line like the Broncos...
