Cedric Benson's three game suspension has been reduced to 1 game and a fine. Huge news for Bengals.

There goes any value Bernard Scott had... prolly not worth holding with their bye week here and only expecting 1 week of start time for him.

That is great news. In two of my leagues he is RB 19 and RB 22, so basically a low-end RB2. Plus the planned rest will probably do him some good.

I know it is early but does anyone have an idea on when this will be announced/scheduled?
Gotta think this means BScott will get one game as starter...@Seattle week 8. Seahawks are #1 in the NFL is yds per carry (3.1) and #7 in rushing yds allowed per game. I'll be cutting Scott tonight.

Yea Benson will sit vs Seattle. Scott is worthless now..
scott's role has gradually increased this yr and last game he had 12 touches to benson's 17. there is a glimmer that this is trending towards rbbc, and scott can really force the issue with a big game as the workhorse.

Apparently they lumped in something in '10 with the lockout incident in order to do the suspension. I'm betting the grievance will continue against the NFLPA as regards the other 7 on that list.

By the way, the Bengals have had some beautiful timing with things this year. They'll have 2 full weeks to game-plan for Seattle utilizing Scott.

Unless you're desperate for the roster spot, getting one start out of him by holding onto him an extra week doesn't seem so terrible.

Did he drop his NLRB petition?-QG
I have to believe that was part of the settlement. I doubt it was a unilateral reduction without give and take.
I wouldn't be so sure. What the NFL gets out of this is the ability to punish him. -QG
He might have agreed to drop the NLRB petition, but it should be noted that the case to the NLRB was against the NFLPA (the Union) not the NFL (league).Without getting too technical, essentialy the NFLPA and NFL signed a "letter of understanding" which settled most of the disciplinary issues that arose during the lockout. What Benson was arguing in front of the NLRB was that the Union did not adequately represent him (among other things) - this is an "unfair labor practice". So, his case is against the Union, not the League. Now, of course, this doesn't mean that this couldn't all be resolved by reducing it to one game and Benson couldn't agree to drop the charge against the NFLPA, but it also doesn't clearly mean that the the ULP against the NFLPA is dropped either, since the NFL (employer) is the one issuing the suspension and the NLRB cause of action is between the employee (Benson) and his union (NFLPA)./L&E law nerdery.
