Cell Phone Operating Systems (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Will they ever start charging for the latest and greatest OS's, like they do with Windows? It seems like they're just giving it away for free now when they could easily be selling everyone with a phone the "next" OS.

Is it only a matter of time before this happens or is there something with phones that makes them different than how we use an OS with a computer?

They will start charging more for the content. The phone will evolve into google glass or contact lense or who knows what. The content is what everyone is after.

The Pay for OS model is essentially dead. Even M$ is starting to entertain the idea of free version of windows.

Free cover charge, sell the drinks.

See, this was my first thought. But then I remembered that corporations are known to be greedy. I hope you're right though, GB.

That would cost them billions in the business market. How would they recoup that? The Windows Store doesn't make anything off of business.

They are starting to consider giving the windows phones away for free due to lack of sales/interest. To which I say SUCK IT NOKIA THAT'S WHAT YOU GET!Schlzm

Not making it up. I hear ya though...

My guess is they're hoping to keep install base high to parlay into ad revenue through bing and such. My guess is business/enterprise versions would still be pay to play.
