Chad Johnson and Palmer going to fight? (1 Viewer)

(KFFL) TSN reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson (ankle) said him and QB Carson Palmer are going to fight. "Me and Carson, I mean, we're fighting and bickering a lot and he's pissing me off," Johnson said. "But other than that, you know, it's cool." The reporter doing the interview then laughed at Johnson's response but Johnson said he was serious. "Why are you laughing?" he asked. "I'm serious." The reporter responded saying it was hard to tell if he was serious. "I'm serious," Johnson stated again. "Carson and I are going to fight in camp. I'm just telling you now. We're going to frustrate each other, and I'm going to hit him in his knee - the bad one… We have a great relationship but sometimes you fight."
This guy is a work of art.....

Johnson is a nut job, but he was joking here. Going after his knee? Bad joke, but the dude wasn't serious.

While I love the fact that these news stories push down the value of the Bengals passing game, I still am not optimistic when you look at their schedule...it is brutal. Now people are going to say things like "Cleveland has similar schedule"...true but Cleveland actually has a good strong OL to run and operate behind. I am not optimistic on Cinci for much this year.

This is all a show.

Just like Randy Moss' pre-season of not practicing and rumors that he may not make the team from last year.

Some players and coaches in the NFL have really taken to playing the media for fools and seeing what they can get them to waste time chasing while they go about trying to put together their team.

CJ isn't just being crazy here and he knows exactly what he is doing.

 It looked like a poorly executed joke to me.

This is probably for a different thread, but has Cincy's line gotten worse? Palmer was sacked only 17 times last year which compares to Andersons 14. Palmer also attempted 50 more passes than DA. I'm trying to weigh the Cleveland/Cincy QBs and passing offenses and keep coming back to Palmer as being the better pick. No matter how bad the Bengals record is, Palmer will remain at QB unless he gets hurt. If Cleveland drops the first 4 games how long does Quinn stay on the bench?

I think he was clearly using the word 'fight' meaning 'argue'.

On another note, didn't he sound a little like Mike Tyson in that interview?

Palmer should be at least 3 spots above Anderson in all formats. I currently have Anderson ranked 7 spots behind him in a dynasty league. I can't see a single reason not to put Palmer substantially over Anderson.

Actually, the OL is improved from last year...all healthy and Stacy Andrews is set to take over for aging Willie Anderson. LT, Levi Jones is healthier. The only real question is at center. As far as Palmer vs Anderson, it's not even close. Anderson got hot mid-season last year and cooled off later. He will be no better than QB2 on most fantasy rosters, yielding to Brady Quinn, who will also suck as a pro...write it down

Getting us to talk about him for starters. Also, throwing up smoke screens about how they aren't getting along so people underestimate them (just like Pats/Moss last year).Johnson and Palmer are going to be fine this year and they will have another good statistical season together. Anything else you hear is an act, IMO.

I really don't see anyone underestimating him, Moss was a different situation. I agree they'll probably be fine but I'm sure his teammates could do without the antics. He should just shut up and win a game.

I hope they get him arguing with Carson's bad knee on tapeWhat are the statistics on mental illness in the NFL?Top 10 active mental NFL players?Top 10 MOAT?

The Oline is fine. The left side is great, the right side is great. They have 2 RTs that could start for pretty much any team. I would count Willie out yet... he's healthy and could easily take his job back. Center is the only weak spot. I wish they'd move Williams in there, then their 5 best could be on the field.

He's merely joking, in a similar manner to his serious antics of offseason to sort of play them off and not look like quite the jackass.

This is why I choose to not get my sports information from ESPN.

The moron doing the interview actually took the "Why are you laughing? Im serious." at face value. Have they never heard of OchoCinco before?

You guys are really bored posting stuff like this, just like the media for even reporting that crap. Chad was clearly not serious lets move on before this turn into another Chad bashing thread.

Andy Kauffman fought Jerry Lawler once - this is a similarly serious situation. Someone could get put in a neck brace or something.

If he really is joking after saying he's not, he is then crying wolf. If he keeps this up, things will backfire on him with the media.

Come on.The media LOVES that he messed with this guy. Chad has plenty of good will with the media. One more good year, and he can say whatever he wants. There is nothing in that interview that should concern Cincy owners. I actually find it very positive. Chad is messing with the press again, and is essentially stating that his relationship with Carson is a non-issue.If you look at Chad's actions, it is very apparent he isn't stupid. He's not going to war with his QB.

THE REFEREE IS LOOKING THE OTHER WAY! JOHNSON PEARL HARBORS PALMER WITH A STEEL CHAIR! ON HIS BAD KNEE! THINGS ARE BREAKING DOWN HERE!

Haha, Chad is always good for a laugh. For a minute there I thought he was going to go Mike Tyson in that interview and say he was going to eat Carson's children... Too funny.

Interesting note from camp

Wide receiver Chad Johnson (ankle) joined in the past-practice sprints and seemed to go at a decent pace. He was taped, but not in pads, when he gave the crowd of about 400 some excitement when he plucked five-year-old Bryce Short of Lexington, Ky., wearing a No. 85 jersey, and took him along for some rehab work on another field. When Bryce showed up back on the big field, he waved a pair of autographed CJ shoes.
Say what you want about the guy, but he has a good heart, especially around kids. And to me, if he's doing this stuff, it also tells me his head is in the right place in camp.

Chad Johnson 6-1 192 pounds

Carson Palmer 6-5 230 pounds

They're not gonna fight. Palmer would beat CJ like he stole from him.

Thanks for the info guys. Good stuff!

:goodposting:I love CJ's antics - and I think this joke was a stab at the Smith-Lucas thing.

Pretty amazing if it was since he gave that interview a few days before Smith beat the crap out of Lucas. Maybe he ordered the hit on Lucas himself??

If you locked Chad Johnson in a closet, he'd come out and tell you how much fun he had.

I dont see any difference in him from before. He is still self-centered and full of himself. The Same reason i have never been a fan of his antics...
