NFL | League will revise injury reportsSat, 24 Mar 2007 09:14:56 -0700Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports the NFL is planning to improve its weekly injury reports after several teams questioned the existing method and protocol. Atlanta Falcons general manager Rich McKay said the new system will require teams to reveal each injured player's practice schedule. If commissioner Roger Goodell approves the new format, the old classifications of probable, questionable and doubtful will be de-emphasized. Under the new system, teams will list the amount of practice in which injured players participate on Wednesday and Thursday of a game week. On Friday, the teams will designate each players as probable, questionable, doubtful or out.
I hope this gets implemented.

I like it but what happens for all the teams playing every Thursday?

Is there any other reason the injury report exists besides helping Vegas set lines?

If I was the NFL I'd just do away with it.

I don't.Removing the prob, Q, Out from tuesday or wednesday's report makes us wait all the way til Friday to hear their determination(guess of sorts). The number of veterans that miss Tuesday's practices as the season wears on is pretty big. By November, a player missing practice will mean little to us FFers

Why does that matter? The early reports are worthless and I doubt you have any lineups due before Friday on weeks when there aren't Thursday games.

Note the asterisks

It appears all this would do is take away the words D, Q, P

Maybe I am misreading, but the part that I took away from what I posted is where it says teams will list the amount of practice a player misses. I had read that to mean they would start saying more than just "missed a portion." However, now I wonder if that's not what was meant.

scratch my previous replies

It appears that the vague "missed team portion" will be replaced with an actual amount of practice time missed.

I....I don't know it's late, guess I misunderstood, sorry bout that
