**Chargers at Patriots** (+5.5, 39.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Chargers should win this one handily, but the are the Chargers.
Good Chargers offense against good Patriots defense.
Putrid Patriots offense against generous Chargers defense.
Could be close...

Other Team in Los Angeles- 23
Only Team in Foxborough- 20

Johnston having his best game. Still can’t catch it when it matters. Bad drop on 3rd and long wide open for a big gain. Jeebus.

6-0 the score...want to believe Belichick still knows how to coach defense and causes these ridiculously ugly games
-Does he even make it to the parking lot when New England fires him after the season?
Who is ready to hire him as Head Coach?

Pats defense allows 10 or fewer points in three straight games and go 0-3. Every other team in the league has gone 50-0 allowing 10 or fewer points this year.
The last team to lose three consecutive games allowing 10 or fewer points was the 1938 Chicago Cardinals (who did it 4 games in a row), now the Arizona Cardinals.

BB had his morning radio interview this morning. The takeaway from the panel was that it doesn't appear that Bill has anything lined up with any other team, he is still invested in coaching NE. and he still seems focused on fixing the team. (Whether he can or not is a different discussion.) Even though they are 2-10 and look terrible, they have 7 one possession losses. They've also had a boatload of injuries that have sapped the team of some of its best players and led to an everchanging rotation of banged up linemen. That still doesn't change that they aren't a very talented football team, but with a better QB, a couple skilled players (they will have high draft picks and a boatload of cap space), and better health, they could bounce back and be a .500 team next year (not saying they will, only that with fewer mistakes and a couple of timely plays they could have more wins). I am not convinced BB will be fired (that certainly is on the table), it will depend what it would cost financially for the team to rid themselves of Bill (or if they think he can fix what ails them).

No team made it to the redzone? No kidding. Damn. Has that happened before? I get the Pats offense not getting into he redzone. If you have Herbert and you can't get the ball into the redzone that's a fireable offense to me.

The Patriots are who the Jets think they are. That Week 18 game is going to be all about scrambled identities and craziness.

That anyone thought this was going to hit 39.5 points or that the Jets were going to hit 33 points is staggeringly and crazily optimistic to me. Yeah, it's pro football, but have you watched these teams?

Pre draft this is one of the best qb and wr drafts in a while. Lawrence was supposed to be a generational prospect and Stroud wasn't expected to be this great so take that with a grain of salt but if they can get Caleb/ Maye, they'll not only have their cheap qb, they'll be able to attract a top free agent wr with the promise of being the number one for a stud prospect. Tee Higgins will have plenty of suitors but the Patriots will be one of them and they can afford to make a godfather offer.

They'll also have an early second in a strong and deep receiver class. With the cap benefits of 2.1/2.2, teams are willing to trade down cheaper than they used to.

Pop Douglas looks like a perfect 3 in the slot. Rhamondre doesn't have the juice to lead the team but he's good enough to be the starter for a good team.

The defense has been outstanding, all things considered. With judon and Gonzalez back plus more experience for the young guys, they could be really good.

The offensive line still sucks. They've improved at run blocking but it's still not pretty and I don't know if that's something that they can solve. Knowing Bill, he'd probably like to use that early second on the line, so if he still has control over the roster they'd probably have to go with a wr2bc. And they'll probably lose Henry, for whatever that's worth.

But there is a pretty clear path back to respectability. If I were Belichick I'd be losing 6-0 in straight sets faster than bostonfred playing at Wimbledon. And if I were Kraft, there's nobody I'd rather have coaching this defense. They'll fire BoB and probably try to poach someone from Houston to run the offense and develop the qb but I think Belichick stays.
