My favorite thing of all, especially this time of year - I take a handful of waters and keep them in a cooler in my car.  Instead of $ I give beggars cold water, they seem to appreciate it.

That's a thing here in Florida too.  Some places/people take it a step further and create bags with a water, some pudding, crackers etc.  Only it's all year round.  We've had people actually turn them down before   If I am by myself, I'll get them food and take it to them....I've learned to ask first as sometimes they turn down the food.

Some have asked about the BBQ thing. Goofy video from a couple of years ago. 

One of my favorite things about this (And  I can this to you guys without bragging) is it's great BBQ. I love it that the best BBQ in all of Knoxville that night served under the bridge.

In a very small way, there's some dignity in that. To serve people great food who normally get the stuff that's one step short of the dumpster is a positive thing I think. 

I had to go back and watch a second time before I realized that was you in the hat and uniform and not a police officer.

This is my friend, Dr. Broome. I love this guy. 

You can find him a couple of times a month giving medical assistance to our Homeless and At Risk folks. He can't do major medical stuff of course but they do a pretty good bit there. 

I love how he looks people right in the eye. This is his normal stance when people are sitting down like that. He's a great example of taking a skill he has and putting it to use.

We bought my daughters first car 2 years ago for 11 grand. 2011 Honda Accord. Transmission went out. Even a rebuilt transmission quote is just silly and makes no sense. This weekend i filled out online information to donate to Purple Heart Foundation. Charity for vets. They picking it up this Wednesday and immediately take it to auction. I can write off for whatever they sell it for.
