Godfrey is a converted corner playing in a Cover-2 scheme behind three above-average linebackers and alongside two usually strong run supporting corners. He had three picks in his first five games and his big tackle week came against a Cincinnati team that ran the stretch play in such a way that Godfrey was often the unblocked support player. His situation is a setup for some 2-4 solo weeks and a few 5-7 solo weeks.
Still, I feel compelled to point out that the 80 solo plateau is a big deal for a DB. Though I've been calling this year the Year of the DB and a number of safeties (and corners) are on pace to scream past the 80 solo mark, that kind of production is generally an anomaly. Godfrey's two solos last week were disappointing, but don't get too down on a DB that puts up 4-5 solo tackles in most weeks. That's the sweet spot for a nice consistent DB3 with weekly upside.
