Charles Grant? (1 Viewer)

Is it time to drop him in IDP leagues? Other than this week's FF, he's been extremely low scoring in my league so far this year. Grant has now had a couple of good matchups and yet to has a sack....

Is it time to drop him for a free agent - (Shaun Rogers) - especially considering they play ATL this weekend and I'd expect his numbers to be low again this week? Does anyone out there envision holding on this guy hoping he'll at least get a sack in the upcoming weeks?

I would be hesitant to drop a healthy, talented player after only 2 weeks. I might stash him on the bench if I had better options but I wouldn't drop him.

What are you expecting from you DL? 6 solos and a sack every game?

Most DL have stretches of games with 2-3 solos and 1-2 assist a game, which is where grant is at right now. Be patient, his boom will come soon.

Perhaps his 2.5 sacks last season was the start of a trend rather than an anomaly.

IMO, people are too high on Grant. For whatever reason, he isn't producing. How long do you expect people to wait on him, another year, two, three?

One(Min.) to Two(Max.)

I'm not ready to drop him yet. And I could use the help on DL in one league too. But I addressed the position late in my redraft league and Grant ended up as my DL1. He's going to need to stink it up a few more weeks before I consider kicking him to the curb.

I was glad to see my DL2 Kevin Williams bounced back.

Grant is lining up inside on some downs. He's still very active getting tackles in the running game, but the years of double digits sacks are over. He's viable in leagues that don't weight sacks heavily, but bench material in leagues that award 3x or more the value of a tackle for a sack.

So who's playing outside when he's moved inside?

Rob Ninkovich, the rookie from Purdue.

Hurricane Katrina. Will Smith is doing a little better but you need to give him a little time. It's a new coachig staff and new system. So the choices are wait 1 year or not at all. Give me a break.

Give you a break? Hurrican Katrina is the reason he only recorded 2.5 sacks last season and has yet to record one this season? Seems Bloom's analysis is more accurate. I ask how many years to wait merely because I have a feeling many dynasty owners have already waited a year, and have yet to see a return on their investment.

Well, this was the first game I got to watch Grant. He got a sack. Other than that he looked like crap. Every other play he got off the snap, slowly, and gets engaged with the tackle and thats it. It's like he stands him up to lean on him for a break. His sack was even a fluke. B.Young busted his ### to get inside and force Vick to slip and fall, right in font of Grant. I hope someone didn't watch the game and only looks at the stat line. I am trading him this week.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there tiger.Grant looked awesome. Pursued hard on running plays and made tackles. He was supposed to hold contain on the edge because of Vick -- did you notice him holding the lineman in a way to peek over his shoulder and disengage quickly.Trade him if you like, but I think he looked very good.

He just looked slow, and out of most of the time. I see your point about holding the edge. Let me say this, i didn't expect much tonight going against Vick. I got more than I thought so it is not his production I dislike. I mean Brian Young looked faster.

I was excited to watch last night's contest as between my two IDP leagues I had 5 players in action. I was most anxious to watch Harper and Bullocks just to see how the Saints would employ them. Focusing on Charles Grant was my second assignment. Like Jene, I was hardly disappointed in Grant's play. He was extremely active in run defense and as was already suggested never got exploited on the outside. The worst he looked all night was after he made a tackle in the first half he jumped up in the air to celebrate but looked like he didn't have a signature celebratory move. It was a pretty ugly tackle celebration.

That was awesome. The over AND under leg clap. :lmao:

This is where youre going to get most of your value from Grant. If you're in a league where sacks are 2X the point value of tackles or less, bump Grant up into the top 10 DEs.

Chris Landry's weekly Yahoo piece explains Grant's play better than I...

The pass rush by the Saints defensive ends was also pivotal. You must resist the temptation to get wide in an effort to run at Vick. It only creates a rush lane for him to escape. You must rush to the heel of the offensive tackle and stop, sealing off any interior rush lanes and forcing him toward outside pursuit. The Saints put on a clinic on how to do this Monday evening.

Exactly right. It took a whole 3 games for the NFL to figure out how to shut down the college option. Now everyone will copy that scheme. Good bye college option.

I like Grants matchup against Gross this week.
Yeah he looked wonderful with his 1 tackle this week. Glad he was ranked #3 on the DL listing....I was versus Jason Taylor this week and nearly got crushed (thank God for Maroney!!!)I think the time has come to drop him in our league, for a Bears DL (Tommie Harris / Alex Brown are both available).I just think his one sack was a lucky one against the Falcons in that Vick fell down....Sorry to say that his chances of being top 10 DL are nearly nil this year.Even though the FBG DD was wrong on this one, he was really a flier pick and they did great for the rest of my draft, so I won't be blaming the FBG website for this one :)

Anyone here think Grant is the #3 DL this week?

This guy seems to be way overrated on the cheatsheets week to week. I'm not a believer.

I don't understand it either. He seems to consistently crack the top 10 on the cheatsheets, and very often the top 5. Very rarely does he live up to his high ranking.I'm not hating on the cheatsheets, but a little justification would be nice--and a little more than just, he had a nice game last week, or he has a sweet matchup.

FWIW I like Charles Grants matchup again this week and I am starting him even though it did not work out well last time I was seeing the same thing.

:shrugs:

Week 4 he was the #2 DLman in my league. This is guesswork and thin they expect a repeat.
Week 4 he had a lonely little tackle and nada. You must mean week 5. Charles might be turning the corner. I'm encouraged.

What's good about playing the Eagles?

They pass the ball a lot giving Grant more sack ops.The Eagles have a good offense that should keep defenders on the field. The Eagles offense attacks more to the outside.Westbrook while very quick is not the kind of Rb that will break tackles on Grant if he can get to him.Grant had a decent not great game. 3 tackles and a sack.
