Chauncey Washington (1 Viewer)

I was just watching some highlights of him to see if I want to take him late in my dynasty draft.... and I am going to pass, unless he is there in round 27/28.

He looks like he has decent power and very good leg drive. However, he doesn't look elusive at all and looks slow. If he looks slow in college highlights, he will be way too slow in the pros.

dynasty format you stash and hold for next year where he will be the successor to Fragile Fred (32 yrs old).
2002 - started 16 games, 287 carries, 1314 yards2003 - started 16 games, 345 carries, 1572 yards2004 - started 14 games, 260 carries, 1224 yards2005 - started 11 games, 194 carries, 787 yards2006 - started 15 games, 231 carries, 1146 yards2007 - started 15 games, 223 carries, 1202 yardsHow many other backs have missed fewer than 9 games in the last 6 years? Calling him 'Fragile Fred' makes you sound pretty dumb at this point. I think to say a 7th round pick is a definitely successor to a guy like Fred Taylor is misguided at best. Chauncey is 50/50 at best to even make the roster, and I'm guessing Fred Taylor plays two more seasons. So if you want to stash a guy on your roster, who *might* make the team and *might* get some playing time in 2+ years, have at it.

excuse me all wise and knowing...Fred Taylor has been called Fragile Fred since before Jesus wore sandles...its a nick name and if you'd been following football over the past, I don't know...10+ years you would know this.

And if you think Chauncey has a 50/50 chance to make the team, you know absolutely nothing about the Jags or Chauncey.

What makes you think Chauncy is 100% making the team over DD Terry? He's a 7th round pick. I'm not saying he doesn't have any potential, but I am curious at to why a 50/50 shot is so unreasonable.

How many 7th round picks turn into anything? A very low number. I'm not saying it can't happen, but the chances are low. He went in round 7 for a reason.

If he doesn't make the team, you should put in your signature "Don't listen to me, I act like I know everything about football but I am in fact the one who knows nothing"Fair? :excited:

I also think he is a "buy and hold".Keep him at the end of your roster and see what happens.I don't think he has the talent to fill Freddy's shoes, butif he can be had on the cheap, then grab him..

hmmmmmm......Jaguars waived RB D.D. Terry.

Just three months after reports that the team was "very high" on the 2007 practice squad player. Chauncey Washington's path to take over LaBrandon Toefield's old third-string tailback role is now crystal clear. The team signed undrafted Jackson State free agent Lavarus Giles to take Terry's place.

Who doesn't know his football?

:pwned:

enjoy that popcorn.....

Wouldn't read too much into it this year. Greg Jones has returned to to his 2006 form and from what I saw in the practice sessions, finally has the quicks and cutting ability back. He's in line IMO to be the secondary rushing option if Fred Taylor goes down. Chauncey is interesting becuase of his size and power and the comparisons to Toefield are fair, though I think he has a bit more raw talent.

The reason that Radiohead is right when he says that its a 50/50 shot is that the Jags might go with 2 RB and 1 FB because of Jones' versatility and save a roster spot. Washington is a fringe roster candidate now, and I suspect his shot at making the roster depends solely on Greg Jones' health.

As a Jags :sadbanana: I can only hope he's Toefield. Candidly I think he'll be more Alvin Pearman. Return/special teams and hoped for RB depth. Not that I'm reading much, if anything, but Del Rio is a Trojan.

huh? Is this not MJD's spot?
I think he means taking over Freddy's role in the current JAX RBBC, when he retires or gets moved. Implying MJD won't automatically turn into a 25 carry/game "starter". THAT will be a very interesting topic to debate when FT is out of the picture.

I watched Chauncey all during the 68 years he played for USC, and he looked like a big, slow power RB in college. That won't improve in the NFL. The lack of explosion that he could muscle through in college will kill him in the NFL. He's the Mike Williams of WR's.

WOW, I didn't realize that Chauncey was that old. With all those years under his belt, I can understand why he would be slow.
