Obviously a lot will depend on your proximity to the vacation location, but all answers are welcomed here.

Feel free to include overseas traveling trips and cool deals you may know about.

Basically, all frugal travelling tips are welcome. TIA.

You're going to have to narrow this down a bit for us chief. Like, rather then start with the whole world, maybe just include the northern hemisphere?

I found it pretty cheap to goto Tunica, MS to gamble and eat buffets.

But I also wouldn't really get that excited about it as a vacation destination.

The better the destination, the more it costs.

The best vacation porn instagram accounts are from like Maldives and Bora Bora... and those places are effing expensive.

Places like Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines or Vietnam where it's cheap.

I'm not talking highly expensive places like Australia or New Zealand.

You obviously have to get there first but Portugal is probably the cheapest destination in Western Europe. We really enjoyed the long weekend we spent in Lisbon over the Christmas break. Hotel/apartments are significantly cheaper than the UK, France or Spain. Food, wine, taxis, etc. were also very reasonable.

Riviera Maya is a great option (going next month again), but I'll throw another out there: Belize. I found a great direct flight from NYC (under $300 RT) and hotels are very cheap. There's a ton to do from beach to adventure. Unfortunately my wife nixed it when I told her it would involve a short ride on a puddle jumper or a boat to get to some of the best locations.
