2023-2024 NBA Salary Cap Draft - SECOND Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup - Preseason Rankings are In! (1 Viewer)

So far, we have 7 different teams that have received a top ranking (out of 11 submissions), but we’ve only had 3 different teams receive a bottom ranking.

No team has been ranked the best by more than two people.

Now that the games have evened out a little my team is rising in the Fantrax standing. Injury to Claxton and Kristaps going to hurt the bigs numbers though.

I was comfortably in 2nd for a while until some injuries started hurting my games played and minutes played numbers.

Herro has been out for 1/2 the season now after he had a great start. Maxey has been my MVP.

ETA - Ugh. I just looked and out of 7 possible guys going tonight, 3 have been ruled out (Butler, Herro & Nick Richards) and 1 is a GTD (Lively).

My son’s team is the variance champ, receiving both a top and a bottom ranking. He’d be at the top of this group if not for one curmudgeonly ranker who used dice to give him a bottom ranking (next lowest was a 7).

One bottom 5 ranking (most others were toward the top) tanked my average and dropped me into 2nd place. I guess I should have used the Olympic system of dropping the top and bottom scores.

I was probably being too negative with the young lad. I had a tough time distinguishing between the bottom half teams but someone had to fall last.

Poor spacing would negate Giannis' offense a bit but they can get after you on defense with Vooch off the floor.

One potentially entertaining thing we could do is a matchup breakdown. Drafters match their team vs the squad that was ranked just above them.

FBGs explain why a 7 game playoff series would obviously be won by their team and why. 🤷

Last year I toyed with the idea of a head to head knockout tourney with poll voting and the teams doing writeups for matchups, etc. But the I remembered how lazy I am.

We could try to do something similar if there’s enough interest.

Happy New Year!

Also someone's second worst team is faring a little better than that:

What would your starting lineup even be?

Harden, Dejounte, Bane, Avdija, and Porzingis?

Your team still stinks regardless of what stupid fantrax is telling us
Yeah I orginally had Claxton at C but he got hurt. Would probably play Porzingis at the 4 and Okongwu at 5, with Gafford and Avdija rotating in.

I still think this is a balanced real life team that would do pretty well, with a lot of position flexibility.

Porzingis at the 4 sounds like not a good move. You really are lacking a defensive wing to match up against the Luka/Kawhi/Lebron/Tatum's of the world

My team sucked, sucks, and will suck. Rough draft. High risk high reward...best team last year, worst team this year. Maybe highest risk highest reward is a better term lol.

Still sitting pretty in 2nd on Fantrax after the 3rd in the polls. We've been fortunate so far with injuries and have gotten mini-breakouts from Coby White and Jabari Smith.

4.12 Bruce Brown SF STUD $22

Denver is REALLY gonna miss this dude as they attempt to repeat. Super explosive and clutch. Big fan.
Read a couple of things that Denver is trying to figure out a way to get BB back from Toronto now. That would be epic, they really miss him, especially his cutting and finishing off Jokic feeds. :black dot:

There is zero chance. They would have to include one of their starters to make salaries work or make it a 7 for 1 trade which would be impossible unless Toronto cut half of their roster prior to the trade to make it work.

KCP would work, and that was mentioned in a few places. With Porter, RJ, and Murray KCP has become less important imo. They now have a much bigger need for an aggressive slasher like BB. But they will probably try and get creative if anything. He was a huge reason they won it last year, and you can see the difference without him. Coach looked like he was gonna lovingly assault him during the ring ceremony last week. So much love for BB on that squad.

That's crazy talk. Especially if you watch the team on the reg imo.

I find fans who watch one team regularly to be the worst evaluators (I say this as a terrible Celtic evaluator)

I am a Celtics fan and former season ticket holder. I have been watching Denver, Boston, and Sacramento on the reg for years now. I watch other random games, just no Lakers. I haven't watched much Celtics this year as Tatum pizzes me off. I haven't missed a Nugs game in at least three years now. They are fun to watch, especially as a coach.

Yeah, it's not even close. KCP is a top flight defender at the two and a knockdown shooter - both of things which they have to get from the 2-guard spot.

I love Brown and thought he was a great fit as a 6th man, but honestly I think the biggest things he brought to the team were vibes and effort, which are great tangibles, but the rest of his skill set is more okay then great. I think his playoffs last year are overshadowing the rest of his resume the shows he is best suited as a 6th or 7th man. KCP has a resume and play that supports him being the 5th starter on a championship team.

I know it was a long time ago but BB was their third best player throughout the playoffs. He was ALWAYS in during crunch time, KCP and Porter were not at times. Christian Braun has really fallen off this year, so the need for a slasher/wing defender like BB is even bigger. KCP gets some great steals, but his defensive dominance is overstated imo. They have many guys that can shoot, but nobody slashing other than Gordon. Reggie and KCP are pretty much bringing the same thing. Watson is very inconsistent, but at least plays some aggressive D at times. This team won't win again without picking up a slasher/finisher, even if it's not BB. And they also miss Jeff Green, but it is what it is.

My team can shoot. When Jayson Tatum is the worst three point shooter of all the guards/wings, well...
