Got rats? Meet the exterminators. Hundreds of cats are being hired and put to work at local homes and businesses,CBS Chicago reported.

There's a waiting list for the cats, and a lot of the people on that list live near soon-to-be demolished buildings like the Children's Memorial Hospital in in Lincoln Park. When the building comes down, the rat problem is expected to get worse.

They'll probably have to introduce wolves to get rid of the cats.  Then Bears to eliminate the wolves.  And then Packers to eliminate the Bears.

Yesterday evening I was waiting for my boy at an inner city track meet and a black cat crossed the road in front of an oncoming car, the car slammed on its brakes and turned around to avoid crossing the path of the black cat.

Forget cats. They should introduce miniature Dachshunds. Those little guys are tenacious and don't miss a thing. Plus dogs>cats.

Using feral cat colonies to go after rats has also been going on for years, but I think they've been publicizing it more lately because the last few years the rat population seems to have exploded. Chicago has also had a controlled coyote population for years.
