Has anybody been saying this?
The sentiment seems to be that CFA is superior to Popeyes in every way but the chicken sandwich (which is a sentiment I share).

My closest CFA is in a mall that I always seem to be in after already eating lunch. What's the best thing to take out that reheats well?

I like the original Chick-fil-A sandwich over Popeyes chicken sandwich. I think it taste better. Popeyes sandwich is bigger, but the CFA sandwich is big enough for me. The one and only time I had a Popeyes chicken sandwich, I asked for no mayo, and they put it on there. <_< I still ate it, and I did not like the taste, and it wasn't because of the mayo. The chicken was dry, and the bun was stale. They also have too much breading on the chicken, and the taste is just ok. The CFA sandwich is lightly breaded, with a much better flavor IMO. I do think CFA hoards their pickles. I ask for extra, and they put two more on. They are stingy, but better than Popeyes.

I was referring to the overall experience. Which does matter if I'm bringing 4 young kids in there.
Please don't confuse any of my posts in this thread as me suggesting that Chick-fil-a is some culinary delight. Because I'm not. It's just that when fast food is a necessary evil, it's one of the best options.

Maybe my Popeyes is different. I don’t go that often, but when I do there is maybe 1-2 cars in the drive-thru, and I have sandwich in hand within a couple minutes. The sandwich is always good.
At CFA the line is backed up for a half mile and even though they do a good job keeping it moving, it takes forever. The sandwich is more expensive, it’s smaller, not as crispy, the chicken isn’t as flavorful, the pickles aren’t as good, and the bun isn’t as good. Every time I’ve ordered their waffles fries they are undercooked to the point I’ve had at least one fry that still has some crunchiness from being just barely above raw.
They get points for the staff being friendly and courteous, and Popeyes definitely does not have any of that. Aside from the sandwiches I can order actual bone-in chicken at Popeyes while CFA is limited to chicken nuggets. Again, I don’t even see how this is close.

I think we are running into the usual location problem. Not every franchise store is run exactly the same way, thus the wide range of reviews.

Tried the Popeyes sandwich a few weeks ago. Total letdown. Tasted more like grease than anything. I'll give it another try in case this was a one-off incident, but I've never had a bad tasting CFA sandwich with a sample size of at least 100.

Popeye's in South LA is a different experience for sure. I love their food when done right, but their service is ridiculously atrocious and inconsistent everywhere I've tried them outside LA. They are the true dichotomy of CFA in that regard. The history of both brands kind of explains why. Popeyes has a tumultuous past of failure, multiple sales, bankruptcies, majority franchise locations, etc. while CFA has been guided by the same family since inception with consistent ideals and practices (whether you agree with them or not) and firm control of each location. The dichotomy would make a fascinating business class or book.The last page of posts in this thread has made me wonder about Popeyes away from its home area (started in New Orleans). Around here, Popeyes' food is still beloved ... but then, the bad service is kind of considered part of the charm
(Truth be told, the service is often slow but rarely rude IME. The rep that everyone jokes about, locally, is overblown)

My office is very close by
. The fact that there is a Wawa, Church’s, CFA, and Popeyes all within a half mile stretch of road is not good for my waistline.I had no idea that was the only Church’s in NJ. Crazy.

I only found out about the status of the Church’s when I went one day and it was unexpectedly closed. I went to their website to look for locations and that was the only one listed in NJ. It’s still there, so it was just something weird that happened on that one day.

I don't agree with that discrepancy but if someone does then I can see why they would wait an hour in line. Since I have them closer in ranking it makes it an easy decision to pick CFA the vast majority of time considering other factors. I've probably skipped getting Popeye's (walked out, left the drive-thru or just drove past) almost as many times as I've gotten it.

My nephews love Bojangles. I have never had their chicken sandwich, but I've had their cajun chicken biscuit before, and I like it. I like their bo-tato rounds too. I don't eat fast food often, but 3 of my nephews could give a detailed report on which chicken sandwich they think is best. I do get BBQ about every month (sometimes twice a month) from the local BBQ place, but I don't know if that is considered fast food. How do you feel about Bojangles?
I have never had Zaxby's chicken sandwich either, but I like their chicken fingerz dipped in their Zaxby sauce. I used to take my grandmother there, cause she loved their kiddie meals. I've had a pretty good salad there too. My nephews like their nibbler sliders (or something like that).

Like you said, their best thing is breakfast - cajun filet biscuit with bo-rounds.
We used to have one across the street from work, but it closed and got replaced by Starbux.

I had no idea that this was a thing for Popeye's. I just thought it was our location.
Love the food - insanely slow and bad service ...always.
I really have to think twice before suffering through the service before getting that delicious food.

Part of the charm with Popeyes is what disaster awaits you when you go. One time I had to do the sales tax on my order for the cashier because their computer was down and they couldn’t figure out how to calculate it lol.

During the peak of the sandwich craze our local Popeyes drive through folks took to greeting drive through customers with, "Popeyes, we don't have any sandwiches". It worked so well they have adopted it as common practice that carries on today, except they regularly expand the list of what they don't have. I'm convinced it isn't true most of the time and the drive through workers have just learned that they can get people to go away if they tell them up front they don't have certain popular items.

Crazy, cuz I see it as exactly the opposite....I did the side by side and CFA sammich blew Popeyes outa the water......Popeyes took forever, and the quality just wasn't there.....fries cold, sammich greasy as all get out. Apparently the long wait, and inconsistent food is part of Popeyes charm? I don't get it.
Now, you have to consider that I'm a stuffy, middle aged, suburban, white dude who doesn't eat much fast food.......I'm not a very popular stereotype at the moment.

Could be a while. Their entire menu went up ~15% about a month ago. At least at the Wendy's close to our house.
A Single burger (one patty) is now $4.99 by itself. IIRC, Wendy's was still doing 99-cent Singles specials into the early 2000s. I mean, yeah, that was ~20 years ago now, but still.

Worked at Wendy's way back in the day. One of the regular closing guys would always fry up an entire bag of breaded chicken (I think 12 pieces) about an hour before closing. We'd sell maybe a few, maybe none. Whatever was left was meant to be thrown out -- or taken home. Usually we each headed home with three or four cooked pieces of chicken.

Half my friends worked at McDonald's in high school. They technically weren't allowed to take home food. But you go in before close order a cheeseburger and fries and walk out with big Macs, cheeseburgers fries you name it. This was back in the day when the food would sit up on the shelves under lights (I'm old). A few times you'd walk in and my buddy who was cooking would throw cheeseburgers to us from the kitchen
. Good timesIf this is an accurate description I'd say that your CFA is the one that's different, and going by the length of the lines you've experienced it seems like most in your area agree that it isn't even close, just the other way.

I'm willing to compromise....
Obviously individual stores won't put out the same product/quality across the board. I think that's mostly what we are seeing here.
I'm willing to give a different Popeyes a try.....I just typically won't go go back if I get bad food/service to that particular place.

worked at a Papa Romano’s pizza when I was like 14-15. There was always food to be had. Sometimes it was a fake order no one picked up , or just thrown in a steak and cheese sub when nobody was looking. Maybe a little cucumber feta and ranch snack from the salad stationDoug B said:

There was also a time I was a porter for a car dealership and my buddy set off a pack of firecrackers in the wash bay, so loud.
I also smashed a car when I cut the wheel wrong pulling the car in for a wash while the new owners were doing paperwork. Amazingly I did not get fired

Heard an ad on the radio yesterday. They've got a blimp now.
If you see it and report it you get some free chicken McNuggets, with or without beaks and feet.
At the end of the ad, they made sure to say that the offer only lasts for a certain period of time. Meaning they don't want people posting up in their vans near every next flight for more free beaks.

The only people bringing up politics are you and that other CfA dude. Nobody has said anything about their politics at all, just their boring, tasteless food and limited menu items featuring 5 variations of chicken nuggets and kale for some reason.
