I think both D. McAllister and his owners may disagree with everything you just said.Exactly.... since his days at CU, Brown has always battled these types of injuries... more than dings, less than anything serious. The problem is extrapolating this tendency of his to get a little hurt up to becoming a full time 25 carry guy in the NFL. If he hurts his hammies, or twists his ankles in a 12 game season against college talent, and does the same in very limited duty up until this year in the pros... what can we expect when he goes against the big boys, week in and week out, for 16 games? Will he be there down the stretch for the FF playoff run?He is a great talent... but I wonder how much he will tease. Perhaps a good comparison in regard to the types of injuries we may expect is to a Bennett. When he is in there wow, great production. But you always worry about something that will cause him to either be limited, or miss 1-5 games.I reluctantly agree with this.It is the main reason I reached a bit in a draft for a 7th round RB3 on Wednesday night for Lamar Gordon when my only RBs in a start-2 league were C Brown and T Jones.I caught some garbage for the pick, but immediately after (like the next two rounds) all the "crap" RBs went - Wheatley was alreday gone, Emmitt went soon after, along with TJ Duckett, Ron Dayne, Willie Green, etc. - I felt much better about my Gordon RB3 pick when some of those guys were selected by teams as late RB2s or RB3/4.On topic - Brown does seem susceptible to minor nagging injuries, but he is a playah. If he plays for 16 games, he'll hit 1200 rushing, 300 receiving and 10 pr 11 total TDs easily. Evcen if he averages three-quarters per game! LOL!I followed Chris Brown's career since I'm a CU grad. Little nagging injuries and the occasional fumble are things Brown owners will have to live with.
You should point pout that it was a caller on a radio show. I could call in and say Willie Green is out for 2 years, but that wouldnt matter much...or would it?Some guy on the radio was saying out 6-8 weeks. Is he high?![]()
that is the truth. Brown when on the field is productive as it gets. Teams would stack like 9 in the box and he'd still get his. The only time I recall him really getting shutdown was versus Wisconsin in the Liberty Bowl. He also got injured in that game and was injured prior to that a few weeks prior, costing him 2000 yds.The fumbles usually occurred on his way down. It almost appeared that he takes longer to hit the ground (i know this sounds dumb) and on the way down, someone could poke that ball out. It wasn't really a problem considering how many touches he got, I just remember two of them because it probably cost us a game vs CSU :(And how were his stats in an injury filled senior year for the Buffs?Even if he leaves EVERY game for nagging injuries off and on, he will be a PLAYAH when he is in there. I hope he can manage to play in all 16 games this year, and if he does, he will be a strong fantasy force at RB.If he gets dinged up to the point where he is unable to go for periods of the year, the "injury-prone tag" has to be put on him as he has ALWAYS had little nagging injuries that he plays through -if he starts to not be able to play through them, there is a problem.since his days at CU, Brown has always battled these types of injuries... more than dings, less than anything serious.
Thanks for getting back to the thread topic.I was listening to ESPN Radio and Sean Salisbury said Chris Brown will be fine next week. I had to quit listening just after that. Did anyone else hear anything else that was said?
Your so rightFolks, my God! It's a freaking ankle sprain. X-rays negative, it's tweaked, it hurts, it didn't make much sense putting him out there when the writing was on the wall. And, it certainly doesn't have anything to do with the fact that he's 6'3". It's an ankle sprain. All the hyperventilating, sheesh. It's football, and guys sprain their ankles. Now, let's get over ourselves and get ready for a full slate tomorrow.

This is not a dating forum.Am I the only one here that likes my RB's around 5'10 220?
b/c something came up or b/c it was Sean Salisbury talking?I often have the "I have to stop listening now" sensation when I hear his voice.I was listening to ESPN Radio and Sean Salisbury said Chris Brown will be fine next week. Exactly, a real football pllayer would play through an ankle injury, but Brown chose to sit it out. He has now lost all respect of his teammates, family, and friends. The initials C.B. used to stand for Chris Brown, but now they stand for "Candy Boy".Never in the history of the sport of football has anyone ever witnessed the cowardice Candy Boy displayed today than those that were at hand to witness this pathetic performance in Miami. I own Candy in two leagues and am hoping to get a back-up kicker for him in a trade....but I highly doubt I'll have any takers after today's horriffic performance.Folks, my God! Great info hereIn my salary cap league ($170 cap - 17 positions), Brown went up for bids so late that I was able to get him as my #3 for $15.S. Alexander - $47B. Westbrook - $22C. Brown - $15T. Hollings - $1 ( waived for L. Gordon Wednesday morning)

H.K. - you are getting danegrously close to being lumped in with JJEvans, George Jefferson and Pony Boy for harping inappropriately and twisting the message in your direction at every mention of a guy's name. If that's the board rep you want, keep it up - you are heading there in a hurry (which is sad b/c you have been generally considered a respected member of the board up to this point).Brown has lost the "respect" of his teammates, friends and family? I think he was being sarcastic, ML.As far as the CB injury, let's all hope for the best. He's supposed to be my horse in my 16-team league, which looks like he'll be if healthy (14 carries in the 1Q!!!).Sounds like its just a normal sprained ankle. I'm can't say I'm thrilled but I'm not a Shakey Jakey either.H.K. - you are getting danegrously close to being lumped in with JJEvans, George Jefferson and Pony Boy for harping inappropriately and twisting the message in your direction at every mention of a guy's name. know exactly where ure coming from ----- Im in the same boat. I took Brown this year 2nd round... Last year I took William Green 2nd roundwe're screwed :(Concerned because:My 2nd round pick each season continues to hurt me (injury or lazy/cry baby season syndrome) - last year it was dillon you can pick which it was for him. year before it was Boston. I see a very bad trend here.

Again, is there a link to this "He decided to sit the second half out" comment? Been searching for something anything bueller??Did he really choose to sit the second half? Was this a quote from someone? somewhere? Also, what the hell is wrong with him? Does anyone know? It took forever reading through the game threads and this to find any real comment on his injurySomeone, that has a link, quote or other update.. give us the word on him.Concerned because:My 2nd round pick each season continues to hurt me (injury or lazy/cry baby season syndrome) - last year it was dillon you can pick which it was for him. year before it was Boston. Um.....what exactly was the score when Brown last carried?I'm sure if he'd gone two yards further on that long run you wouldn't be whining so much. Fact is Tenn was dominating the game, so it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to put Brown back in. Anyone who's dealt with ankle injuries knows how easy it is to reinjure it if you don't give it time to heal. Maybe, just maybe, the coach has the brains to hold a guy out looking at the big picture (the rest of the season) for a game which is all but been decided.
I'm a Chris Brown owner and I hope everything is OK with him, but the Titans weren't dominating the game. The score was 0-0 at the time of the injury. I've seen teams with 21 point leads, keep their starters in, and continued to score. Let's hope everything goes well for Brown.I'm sure if he'd gone two yards further on that long run you wouldn't be whining so much. I guess he wasn't being sarcastic. Just a bit hurtful. Dude, we know so little about this to say that the guy is "candy". It looks like he didn't go back in 'cause the game was in hand, but even that is not entirely for sure. To say that the guy is going to be a bust after he gains 100 yards in one half (please save the idiotic comments about 1 long run) is preposterous!Hang in there, this is a race not a sprint!H.K. - you are getting danegrously close to being lumped in with JJEvans, George Jefferson and Pony Boy for harping inappropriately and twisting the message in your direction at every mention of a guy's name. What kind of inane comment is that?Wow, that's a sobering statement...almost. My posts are a combination of a drunk (mostly drunk) , dissatisfied fantasy owner of a guy who could have played and did not. Let it be known that there are two kinds of H.K. posts, first, the kind in the off season when I do not have a roster and I evaluate with a level head and unbiased view, and second, when I draft a guy that I depend on and he folds like a cheap lawn chair. How can an ankle injury posssibly keep someone from playing? The simple combination of tape and pain killers would have worked just fine on virtually 99.9% of H.S. athletes, but his softy can't suck it up and play a half of football with a little discomfort? After suffering through years of having RB's die on me like uncharged battteries, I have the keenest of eyes when it come to recognizing a bust, and believe me, Candy did not take a step in the right direction today.

That wasn't exactly the quote. Fisher said in his press conference (seen on ESPNNews) that he wasn't able to go (or something like that). It wasn't something Fisher seemed to think badly of--he was just relating what CB told him. But, it didn't seem Fisher was implying he was soft--it was just that the ankle wasn't good enough to go out there. It's not great news, but I don't think the end of the Chris Brown era is anywhere near. He clearly can light a fuse for that offense.Again, is there a link to this "He decided to sit the second half out" comment? More on Chrissy Brown.A good friend of mine grew up and went to high school with Drew Bennet in California. They are still good friends and talk regularly. To make a long story short, a lot of the Titans players and some of the coaching staff don't believe in Chris Brown and they are just waiting for the RB situation there to blow up.Take that for what it's worth.I own Chris Brown in zero leagues. And I could care less if you believe me.(pre-emptive attack on this board's usual response to these types of posts)

The Titans will sorely miss that on the field and in the locker room.

If they didn't believe in Brown, why did they make little to no effort to meet Eddie's contract demands - isn't Eddie playing for the 'boys for, like, 2 million? What was ASmith's contract?I have never heard anything except the best of praise come out for Brown's character and devotion to the game while he played for CU and in his first year with the Titans. On LHUCKS' story, I'm sure your friend would shut down your information train if he knew you were spreading stories to a FF message board of what Bennett told him - and anyway, could have easily been a thousand things going on - esp. if the story occurred while Eddie was still on the team or had just left - that might have caused that comment.Eddie george may not have been spectacular, but at least he would strap it on and play a full sixty minutes. hmmmmmmmm, what to believe?he will likely play next week he was held out by the coaches
They went after A. HK, I kinda remember you being all over DD last year when he sat out a game in the beginning of his surprising run declaring him soft and all. Then, if my memory doesn't fail me, you were sort of silent on the topic for a while after that. This is one game, and the writing WAS on the wall. If we see a real pattern develop, I will listen to you and concede that you guessed correctly; until then, I am sorry, but this is just noise.More on Chrissy Brown.A good friend of mine grew up and went to high school with Drew Bennet in California. I agree it's been confusing.I've heard both that the coaches held him out and that he held himself out. Apparently during the press conference Jeff Fisher said he held himself out, although I didn't hear it.I guess the bright side is I got my 100 yards out of him today and we'll hopefully know more by next week.hmmmmmmmm, what to believe?he will likely play next week he was held out by the coaches
I know this is just another one of your fishing expeditions but I will bite. If you had concerns about Brown then why did you draft him? Your whining reminds me of a spoiled little kid who didn't get what he wants for his birthday. Yeah its too bad that Brown was having a great game and then went out due to injury...we are all let down but suck it up like the rest of us and stop complaining about it becasue its way too early to tell.In George's case it was his football helmet.....in Brown's case, it is probably a different kind of helmet...Whats being strapped on in the locker room?More on Chrissy Brown.A good friend of mine grew up and went to high school with Drew Bennet in California. Then I guess it is Eddie that is tearing the team apart since he rejected a "respectable" contract to essentially remain the backup.ASmith OTOH, seems to be darned comfortable making a nice living as the backup. They went after A. Smith like it was the last gulp of water in the Sahara Desert. They offered Eddie George a respectable contract even though he's as slow as my mom.
Well I don't expect the story to go very far...a lot of insider info has been leaked here in the past(Gannon Injury in '03 for example) and it didn't get anywhere. I think you may be overestimating the influence this board has on the NFL rumor circuit...not quite the same as what happened last week with the bogus Portis article. And there is no question that the players and coaches may be a little resentful that Chris Brown was handed the torch that Eddie George had busted his ### to carry with dignity over the last 8 years or so.That being said, if anybody has any connections to the Titans innerworkings, they will tell you the same thing. Chris Brown is not the most popular player in Nashville...take that for what it's worth. On LHUCKS' story, I'm sure your friend would shut down your information train if he knew you were spreading stories to a FF message board of what Bennett told him - and anyway, could have easily been a thousand things going on - esp. if the story occurred while Eddie was still on the team or had just left - that might have caused that comment.

What's curious is that even you don't recognize the stupidity of this example. You're telling me that a team without a backup running back tried to secure one, and then when they couldn't, they quickly pursued one of the few decent ones left on the market? How... postively normal. If you don't understand the importance of having a decent backup RB, you don't understand much about football, LHUCKS. But then, I've never been convinced that your posturing belies any sort of real knowledge. You guys seem to be overlooking the fact that Chris Brown ran for 100 yds. today for the first of many times, and that he did it in one half against a strong run defense. After being hurt, he stayed on the field, made big plays, and then was shut down at halftime of a game that was well in hand. If you honestly still believe that Chris Brown is a fluke or a flop, then there's nothing but hubris filling your brain.-------Edit to add: Notice what the world champion Patriots did without their backup RB this week? They sat Dillon a lot and went to 3WR, 2TE sets. Wait, you mean having a backup RB is important? Shocking. They went after A. Smith like it was the last gulp of water in the Sahara Desert. They offered Eddie George a respectable contract even though he's as slow as my mom.Actions speak louder than words.
I was surprised that Eddie didn't take the Titans offer. I've stated that repeatedly on these boards. In hindsight it doesn't surprise me though. Eddie is a warrior and wanted to go where he felt he'd get the most playing time...you can't fault that. Then I guess it is Eddie that is tearing the team apart since he rejected a "respectable" contract to essentially remain the backup. They went after A. Smith like it was the last gulp of water in the Sahara Desert. They offered Eddie George a respectable contract even though he's as slow as my mom.
100% correct, except for the fact that I went silent on the topic. I was all over D3 last year, which is why I consider myself an expert on RB's that are timid...Go to the player spotlight to see my analysis on Davis for 2004.Brown had a chance to control that game today all by himself, but he chose to take himself out. The truly great ones would have toughed it out and stayed in the game, but Candy decided he was too precious to play. O-linemen know who play hurt and they know who leaves them hanging, Brown did not endear himself to his meal ticket today.HK, I kinda remember you being all over DD last year when he sat out a game in the beginning of his surprising run last year declaring him soft and all.
