Chris Chambers is worthless (1 Viewer)

Good info here. This should be pinned next July so I dont make the mistake of drafting his sorry carcass again.

Chambers' stats this year:

56 catches, 638 yards, 4 tds

Nice 3rd round pick, Wingnut. :banned:

2.12  Absolute biggest bust of the year.

Cleo Lemons won't make anyone look like Jerry Rice. 3rd round is just crazy talk, but he'll be a nice value pick next year.

You took Chambers 12th OVERALL? :wall: :wall:
2.12 is not 12th overall.
Hmmm, I have seen people list draft picks that way. Either way, a second round pick still seems too early for Chambers this past year. I know that is easy to say in hindsight, but I only had the top 6 or 7 WR's as potential 1st or 2nd round picks, and Chambers was not in that group.

 Did the same dang thing ... compounded it by drafting Reggie Bush in the second as my RB2 (non-PPR league), and Ben Watson as my TE1 :wall: Ladanian Tomlinson could only carry my team to a 5-8 regular season by himself.

At least I took Chambers in the 4th round at 4.01

Of course this was just a technicality since the word Culpepper came out of my mouth first at the 3.10 / 4.01 turn.

:pickle:

He was the hot WR pick leading into the year. Almost everyone had him in the top 10 and quite a few had him as high as 6-8.
:thumbup:The influential Fantasy Football Index had Chambers as the sixth-best WR in their late-August updates. There was a WR run in the second round in my league ... Chambers was the "best" left standing.

He had been on my bench for a while, I thought with Booker out he'd get some targets. I sat Muhammad b/c I wasn't sure how long he'd play. and Bruce b/c Washington shut down NO the week before. Another second place finish.A complete bust.

I was so pissed at the time when the person in my draft took Chambers ahead of me and I got stuck with Roy Williams.

Biggest bust in football this year. Going into the season I had him ranked in the top 5 after his 2nd half last year and Miami's schedule this year. Add Culpepper to that and I was thinking 1200yds 12-15tds.

Couldn't have been more wrong :wall:

I tried to warn you all, but you told me it was the QBs that throw to him that are the problem.

Miami Dolphins 2006 = biggest collective bust in a long time.

The Miami Dolphins were a huge bust, picked by many to be a serious contendor for the AFC East and to make some noise in the playoffs after a hot finish last season and the acquisition of a franchise quarterback.

Though partially due to factors outside of his control (offensive line and injuries) Ronnie Brown has been a huge best, picked by many in the top 10 of some drafts, and certainly in the top 10 at the RB position (currently 27th in non PPR leagues).

Chris Chambers, as mentioned in this thread, is probably the single biggest bust at the WR position, and quite possibly in all of fantasy football.

Daunte Culpepper produced a lot of optimism despite his injury, and many thought that getting another great talent at WR would help him produce back to his Minnesota days - another colossal bust.

Even Randy McMichael finished outside the top 10 at TE (non-PPR). He managed just one double-digit game and it was Week 16. :banned:

Where?

Sometimes a guy flops and it really does come from nowhere. Chambers was not one of those guys. While I don't think even his biggest critics thought he would be this bad, there were a LOT of us claiming he was way, way overrated.

Until he starts catching more than half the passes thrown his way, he should never be considered anywhere near elite.

It took an obscene number of passes thrown his way last year to get the stats he did. Anyone expecting the same number tossed his way this year was asking for trouble.

While Chambers did have a good year in 2005 (1100+,11 TD's) he hasn't been consistent enough to me to warrant a pick in the 3rd round and it's in my opinion that Dante Culpepper is a bum who benefited greatly from a Randy Moss during his prime.

Chris Chambers is one of those instances where I question paying for the services of FBG

All kidding aside...shtuff happens. I recall also reading on the Ideal 12-team draft that you could draft Droughns "without hesitation" and that Westbrook was an injury risk (which he was/is). That's why we play fantasy football, to correct the mistakes of our past.

This is true. His career catch percentage is pathetic. His tagets have always been very high and they still are this year. Chambers is tied at 8th for the most targeted Wr right now this season with 140 targets. 1 Holt, Torry (WR) (STL) 161 84 52% 1098 10

2 Driver, Donald (WR) (GNB) 156 88 56% 1235 7

3 Johnson, Andre (WR) (HOU) 149 99 66% 1115 5

4 Coles, Laveranues (WR) (NYJ) 144 89 62% 1043 6

5 Johnson, Chad (WR) (CIN) 142 82 58% 1313 7

6 Boldin, Anquan (WR) (ARI) 141 79 56% 1091 4

7 Owens, Terrell (WR) (DAL) 140 79 56% 1057 12

8 Chambers, Chris (WR) (MIA) 140 56 40% 638 4

9 Williams, Roy (WR) (DET) 138 76 55% 1184 5

10 Harrison, Marvin (WR) (IND) 135 90 67% 1292 11

11 Furrey, Mike (WR) (DET) 128 87 68% 980 5

12 Wayne, Reggie (WR) (IND) 127 80 63% 1244 9

13 Smith, Steve (WR) (CAR) 126 76 60% 1081 6

14 Evans, Lee (WR) (BUF) 123 74 60% 1133 7

15 Galloway, Joey (WR) (TAM) 123 53 43% 937 6

16 Johnson, Keyshawn (WR) (CAR) 121 67 55% 802 4

17 Bush, Reggie (RB) (NOR) 120 87 72% 733 2

18 Walker, Javon (WR) (DEN) 118 65 55% 1059 8

19 Ward, Hines (WR) (PIT) 117 69 59% 924 6

20 Houshmandzadeh, T.J. (WR) (CIN) 116 86 74% 1037

The only Wr close to as bad of catch percentage is Galloway who also has a long history of poor catch percentage.

Only agrument against this is the poor Qb play being a factor in this. Culpepper is a high completion percentage Qb but he wasn't healthy. Chambers history speaks for itself though.

If you believe in Culpepper being healthy next year and this helping Chambers then he could be a good buy low or player to target in later rounds next year. But if you make a large investment in him your asking for dissapointment.

Well, I'm happy you avoided this disaster (I did too actually), but his ADP WAS 24th according to the FBG's on information.

Wasn't Randy Moss drafted around the same time as Chambers and didn't he suck even more?Just asking.
This was my "Recipe for Disaster"...Randy Moss 2.10...Chambers 3.3...Not even the Great LT2 could save me from that Mega Bust...

I took him 4.02 38th overall 10th WR taken in a PPR league. I passed on Roy, DJax, Plax....I did not start him the last 4 games of the year. He was my biggest bust and it is a Dynasty League.

I was lucky to win my league anyway.......I hope he has a better year in 2007

Edit:

I wanted to take Roy over Chambers but everything I wasy reading was telling me to take Chambers. I knew learning to read was going to get me in trouble.

;)

;) I'm seriously not bragging as I made my fair share of mistakes (Zach Hilton in Round 43, etc.). I just didn't realize that people were taking Chambers so soon. In my only inititial draft of the year someone took him at 4.10.
