Chris Henry, WR, CIN (1 Viewer)

New news that this report may not be true. I heard something on sirius about a second sample that was taken to the lab was negative.

There's just no way the Bengals could have seen this stuff coming. Talk about unlucky.
 West Virginia head coach, Rich Rodriguez, forced Chris Henry to sit the sidelines in the first half against Rutgers for two unsportsmanlike penalties, the week before, in 2004. Henry was later suspended against Pitt dashing West Virginia’s hope for a BCS bid. The suspension was undisclosed, but Rodriguez said, “I don’t want to go into the specifics about it, but we do have rules regarding effort in the class room, in the weight room and on the practice field.” Henry, the 83rd pick in the 2005 NFL draft, was classified in the pre-draft as a player with character problems unable to learn and retain a system.Question.... was Pac Man also suspended by Coach Rodriguez at any time.

Rich Rodriguez uses his south Florida connections to sign the athletes who the Florida and national footall programs don't want, which means he ends up with guys who have some sort of flaw, and often they're character flaws. On the one hand he's built a BCS caliber program using that tack, but OTOH he's got a program afflicted with the same sort of flaws his players have.

(KFFL) Updating previous items, ESPNews reports that a Kenton County prosecutor has stated Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry did not fail a court-ordered drug test.
He may have failed a league drug test and it was reported wrong the first go around.
He didn't fail a NFL drug test....he took a drug test for the courts...the first test for the court ordered drug testing, is the cheapo drug test....kinda like those drug store pregancy tests....if that comes up positive, then they do the more expensive test to rule out false positives.....which sounds like what just happen.

A few hours after A.J. Nicholson pleaded not guilty to a domestic violence charge Monday, the Bengals released the second-year linebacker.

Although the mother of his two-year-old child recanted her statement from Friday that Nicholson hit her, Kenton District Court Judge Douglas Grothaus chose not to drop the case and set a pretrial hearing for May 31, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Also Monday the Bengals said that Chris Henry is in compliance with his legal matters and that Monday’s reports about the embattled wide receiver failing a court drug test “may not be based on complete information,” while Kenton County prosecutors backtracked from their initial statements.

I'd rather him get booted from the NFL later than now, I own him in a couple dynasties. Hes got great promise if he can get his head right in time before he slips up again.

Thank god for the crappy drug test. It bought him time to get a hold of some clean piss or some cleanser for the second test. Im serious too.

I'm sure they are just going to retest the same sample.-QG

Looks like he failed a court-ordered drug test for opiates and might end up spending some time in the clink. The Commish can't look kindly on this - clearly he didn't learn after getting an 8 game suspension. What a waste.
Tack on another 8 games. Have a nice season.
I think you're being much too kind here. He was given 8 before this and it still didn't click. I don't think this commish will let him back in before '09.His best bet is to go to the CFL and hope he's the MVP the next two seasons so somebody will give him another shot.

I thought it might be one of those cheap cardboard "pee in the square" tests they have out. They are notorious for false positives. Maybe an actual sample was taken for the second test.

What's the false positive rate on the test he was given? Any ideas?

Let's say he has to do it once per month.

If the false positive rate were say, 5%, the odds of at least one false positive in a year's time would be 46%.

Even with a 99% accurate test, there's a 12% chance of at least one false positive in a year's time in this scenario.

In other words, before we send him to the CFL, the more thorough test should at least be heard from.

Hopefully he's keeping away from poppy seed bagels (it did after all say it was positive for opiates.

Ain't like there's a whole offseason to get the answer.

You gotta love the AJ Nicholson case.

Ho: 'You hit me you thug, I'm pressing charges and you'll see.'

Calls cops.

AJ: 'You do and your gravy train comes to a halt.'

Cops: 'So he hit you?'

Ho: 'Nevermind, I hit myself with a phone'

Cops: :pics:

Bengals: 'You are cut'

AJ: 'see what you did ho'

Yes, they are. Link
......Easterling confirmed Monday that initial results showed that Henry had failed a randomly timed drug test last week. The test showed the presence of opiates in Henry's urine, Easterling said.

The sample was then sent to the office of probation and parole, a state department of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, for further analysis.

The results are expected by the end of this week, Easterling said..........

Through the fallout Chris Henry’s agent said his client went back to work Tuesday when the Bengals resumed their voluntary workouts at Paul Brown Stadium.

Marvin Frazier, who refuted Monday’s claim by a Kenton County prosecutor that Henry failed a drug test, said he had no word late Tuesday afternoon if the prosecutors had officially cleared Henry but remains confident they will.

“He just continues to do what he has been doing for a long time now and that’s doing everything that’s he’s been asked to do by whoever has asked him,” Frazier said. “Whether he’s upset or not by what’s happened, he just continues to work out with his teammates and stay in shape.”

Read post #46 again. I'm standing by that one. Some bank accounts need to be checked.
Translation: "I was wrong but I won't admit it." :sarcasm: Both tests came back negative, by the way. There was no positive result. Just over-reporting of bad information and a, um, few people proclaiming it to be true .

Rob Sanders, the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Kenton County, Ky., confirmed that lab analysis of Henry’s drug tests came back negative.

“He’s been tested and cleared twice,” Sanders said.

You betcha. :D I'm just staying in practice for when he gets busted for something and it sticks. I'll give him up to 6 months before that happens.

In the unlikely event Chris Henry gets his life on track, it'll really piss off a lot of people.
:banned: Anyway, my rants about the guy are all in fun. I don't own him in any leagues so I have no fantasy interest one way or the other, and it would be nice to see him get his life together. I don't wish ill fortune on him. I just know he's been in trouble in college (and probably earlier) and now in the pros, and to me a turnaround seems unlikely. I'll get out of the thread now. Good luck to those of you who have him.

For Henry's sake I hope he doesn't pursue civil action against Kenton county for the mistake they made. He needs to just burry his head in the sand until his suspension is up and then move on with getting his playing career back on track. The last thing he needs is his name associated with anything involving courts and lawyers. The Bengals should find him a good hiding spot where he cant get into any trouble, because if he can stay clean he is a darn good football player and can make a lot of things happen on the field. Henry is no good sittin' in jail.
