Chris Hogan, WR (2 Viewers)

I own Hogan a couple places and when I was watching the game it looked like Hogan was nursing some kind of injury.  Obviously he was productive despite this.  Did anyone else notice this?

In fairness hogan has been good ever since he entered the league with buff.  He earned the nickname 7/11 for being practically uncoverable and a great route runner with good hands in buff.  Of course, buff has a history of not knowing how to extract value from key players.  Look no further than watkins and woods who are now thriving in Sean mcvays system.

I think hogan would do well on a lot of teams.  But yes, absolutely, Brady is on another level and can make any wr that much better.  I'll be really sad to see him retire whenever he decides to hang it up.  And we are all very lucky to have been able to watch Brady and Payton manning a careers.

Yeah was being conservative. Just checked he’s sitting as the #2 overall WR in my league YTD with Diggs #1. I don’t think he retains WR1 value but would be thrilled if he does
That’s with one extra game over some of those other guys. Not that it takes anything away. But likely not #2.

A lot of people in here skeptical he can continue producing, but the targets are there and I’ve seen Brady do more with less.

One thing I love about this guy is how angry/serious he looks out there on the field. When they cut to his face he just has this scowel on his face, like I’m gonna go get that ball. Plays with grit.

He also doesn't seem to mind playing through some pain.  He's taken some wicked hits and doesn't seem to care.

My point is if you play in a 12 team league and he is WR9 in your scoring than he is a WR1
Oh yeah he has been a WR1 through 5 games. Statistical fact. However I doubt he stays there. But hey he’s got Brady so maybe he will. Let’s hope so!

In 14 games with either Gronk or Edelman out, Hogan has accounted for 59 receptions, 909 receiving yards, and 9 TDs (with 26 rushing yards). That projects to 67 receptions, 1,069 yards from scrimmage, and 10 TD over a 16 game season. In 2016, that would have ranked as WR10 in 0 PPR leagues (1.5 points from WR8) and WR13 in 1 PPR leagues. People can come up with any arguments for or against Hogan, but the numbers don't lie. He produces as a borderline WR1 with Edelman or Gronk not in the lineup.

For the month anniversary since Hogan was last mentioned on this board, anyone with insights into the possibility that he plays this week?

His injury was classified as a mutli-week thing, but coming off the bye, is there a possibility that he plays? Or given the injury type that he has, is this just a pipe dream?

Bueller?

I don't think he plays this week and even if he does I dont want him coming back early in a bad matchup vs Denver. I'm playing Sanu over him and I think its an easy choice

He is a pass this week just because of his matchup and whether he would be 100% even if he does play. I think he has the same injury as Golden Tate had and Tate didn't miss any time after his bye. The Patriots won't reveal anything but he obviously has to practice to play. Ian Rapoport is not that reliable and he is the one who said it was a multi week thing so take that report with a grain of salt. Ian also said Tate was a multi week thing and that Ertz was playing last week. Not the most reliable guy.

Bottom line: I wouldn't be surprised if he plays this week but it is a bad matchup and he may not play a full compliment of snaps.

The Pats will be smart and let him rest up another week. I imagine he will be starting again in week 11.

Starting Robby Anderson over him and probably would even if he was healthy in the Denver matchup.  Feels like a gronk game

I don't think he plays but not sure Denver is a bad matchup after what Philly just dropped on them.

That was mostly on the ground though. Still limited Wentz to just over 200 yards passing. Yes a lot of TDs were through the air I guess but they are still tough vs the pass.

Wentz sat out the entire 4th quarter and Philly was up huge so they ran a lot in the second half, he passed for 3TDs and the majority of those 200 yards in the first half.

Yeah Denver certainly hasn't been shutting down the passing game this year and they got blown up last week. I don't think that means they are suddenly a good matchup for WRs. They have only given up one 100 yard receiving game (to Kelce) all year. Actually the three best yardage performances against them have been TEs (Kelce, Henry and Engram). I agree with people that say this is a Gronk game.

Outside of specific announcements rior, guess Thursday will be the real first indication of whether it's possible Hogan plays, as seems like missing Wed practice is a formality for vets and dinged players teams are trying to give extra heal time to.

But the point about the folly of starting him even if he does play is well noted.

as someone who went against wentz and lost last week, i can confirm all those tds came through the air

What sucks is that if he doesn't play I'm going to have to drop him in order to pick up another WR to start.  I don't have anyone on my bench to play and not sure if I'm willing to drop any of them.  May drop Hogan for Kupp or T. Williams.

They said it was a 4 week injury, so I thought he'd be back this week. I imagine he practices next week, but probably won't be in fantasy lineups until week 14. Even then, it won't be easy trusting him

Hoping he goes this week against his former team.  Need him with some reps before FF playoffs get going and to see how he looks.  Can he be trusted.

Hogan sitting in waivers and nobody biting. Since I have a week 14 bye already clinched I may take a flyer.

I could see Hogan paying huge dividends against say, PIT, in week 15 when they will need to keep running up the score. NE/Brady always torch PIT through the air as well.

Holding Hogan over other guys like TyMo (who is also dinged but faces a definitive change in role upon return) in the hopes that Hogan comes back and is involved in the offense like he was before injury. May not be this week, but I think he's a hold through the playoffs based on his play, the looks he gets from Brady, and his effectiveness.

I'm holding on my bench.  I don't really want someone else using him against me.  There are way worse guys stashed on other people's rosters in my league

The typical NE pattern for injured players is doubtful first week back, questionable second week back, and playing the third week back. We should know more later today if Hogan is back at practice.

Chris Hogan (shoulder) remained SIDELINED at Wednesday's practice.

Hogan has been a ghost since going down in Week 8. We have no idea when he'll be back on the field, even for practice. Brandin Cooks remains a WR1, while Danny Amendola has played over 55% of the snaps the past two weeks.

http://patriotswire.usatoday.com/2017/11/29/tom-brady-absent-from-patriots-practice-chris-hogan-trey-flowers-present/

Linebackers Kyle Van Noy and Trevor Reilly and defensive end Trey Flowers were all present Wednesday despite suffering injuries against the Dolphins on Sunday. Center David Andrews (illness) and receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder) RETURNED to practice after missing last week’s game.

???

Per Mike Reiss, Hogan was seen walking to a lower practice field after the portion of practice open to the media ended. We will have to see what they list him as later today for his practice participation.

Peeps the second I saw Hogan on the sideline in a sling I thought - see you next year. Maybe we get him back but wouldn’t think twice about dropping him for something useful if in win now mode

Jeff Howe reporting that Hogan went to the lower practice field with his helmet . . . so we can at least conclude he was doing SOMETHING football related today at some point.
