Chris Hogan, WR (1 Viewer)

Peeps the second I saw Hogan on the sideline in a sling I thought - see you next year. Maybe we get him back but wouldn’t think twice about dropping him for something useful if in win now mode
need a little more info here.......was it after he tried to practice on the lower field or before?

Listed as Did Not Participate in practice today. So whatever he was doing was on the side and not with the team. If I had to guess, I would suggest he will return against the Steelers.

No way back when the injury first happened. Sorry not today!
And when Doc Chao heard he had a sling his comment a few weeks ago was if in a sling he's at least a few weeks away. Seems to me most shoulder sprains linger in the 4-6 week time frame and this upcoming Sunday should put him at around 5 weeks. He won't play this week, but I think in next 1-2 weeks. I don't think season ending and I'd not cut him or move on from him.

Seems like a good guess considering timeframe of his injury and magnitude of that game but I could see him returning next week in a bit of limited role and get him ready for the Steeler game but point is I'd be pretty surprised if he's not active for the Steeler game.

Please tell me this is the week he returns to the lineup. With no gronk, this is a juicy matchup...even if he plays half the snaps, he could have a nice day...it's been 6 weeks, so if he doesn't play this week, maybe he needed surgery

tough to trust first week back from injury imo. in the playoffs i like healthy guys

I can't argue this, but if a stud WR on a Brady led offense is starting, minus Gronk, I'm very tempted
he would have to practice all week and we would have to hear some really positive stuff for me to start him.  got fitz, r. anderson, and m. thomas over him right now

thats really interesting and positive that hes going on a wed.  makes me think he will play for sure
Yes. Was on a twitter and saw a video clip of him in a drill and he looked fine. The Pats prob kept him out an extra week so he's closer to full strength

man now i dont know if i should play him above the three i listed above ugh
I would consider benching Thomas with Trufant back. I think my decision is a bit easier. I have Funchess against Rhodes, Marvin in Tampa and Robbie in Denver. If Stafford plays, I'm starting Marvin and Denver's secondary is good, but Talib can be beat. No shot in hell I start Funchess, so I'll roll with Hogsn if we know he's going to play

yeah your is much easier.  bench marvin if stafford sits.  bench funchess if not

Do y'all trust him in the playoffs though? @Pit and vs Bills.
If he looks good on his return first game back, 100%. Pats aren't match-up proof, but the quality of the D (in general and against the pass specifically) doesn't worry too much given Hogan's skillset in the slot and as a burner downfield, and the fact that he has Brady's trust.

If you have other options, Pit is tough, but BUF hasn't scared anyone in a few weeks.

Pitt secondary gives up big plays every week and I'm absolutely starting Hogan if I get to week 15 and he's starting

This is the Pats MO. They wouldn't bring him back if they didn't think he was ready. The fact that Gronk is out, is huge
Agree. They may end up leaning a little more on Cooks/Amendola if Hogan isn't 100%, but the targets should be there.

Kinda wish Gronk was ousted for two games, given my bye this weekend.  :kicksrock:

For those still with a shot at him on waiver wire, where do you slot Hogan in consideration for pickup?  Top 200 ROS has him in the 40s, but not sure if that factors in that he looks like a go this week (point total seems low, especially with Gronk out).

Personally debating between dropping D. Thomas (godawful QB play) and A. Cooper (injury/bust-like all year minus KC performance), but both have seemingly easy matchups upcoming.  Just looking to gauge where others are thinking.

Run and drop Cooper. He's got an ankle injury and that passing attack has been dreadful. Hogan can be huge in the fantasy playoffs, especially now that he's back

Cooper has been severely unimpressive this year, but dropping him for Hogan doesn't seem the right move -- especially with a huge game vs KC coming up, a team he completely torched last time they met weeks ago.

Highly doubtful he plays this week.
Disagree. My money is on him playing.

He's getting some work in today, and reports that he'll practice tomorrow are also coming in. This is the most important game of the year for the Raiders in terms of whether they can make any serious bid to lead the division. I don't think this is a game he'll sit out if he can play -- even if he's limited, he'll still help out there drawing coverage away for Crabs, Cook, et al.

In case I'm missing something, he was horrendous when he was playing at 100%. What makes you think that he will play better with a sprained ankle and coming off a vicious concussion?

My league doesn't give points for drawing coverage

If you call 11/210/2 -- his performance against the Chiefs when he was at 100% -- horrendous, you have a high bar, friend.

If he's cleared from concussion, then the concussion is a completely moot point. It's been about 2 weeks and I think he'll clear it, and if he is, no reason to think he won't be playing with abandon.

Ankle injury is a little more worrisome, but again, he's had weeks to heal.

Cooper completely torched Peters and the rest of the Chiefs DBs in 2015, 2016, and again in Week 7. With Peters out, the opportunity is even bigger.

If he does suit up I frankly don't see the case for not playing him in a must win game against a hated division rival who is tied in the standings in vying for the divisional lead.

But this is why you have your own team. Do what you feel is best.

I don't want to burst bubbles here but seems to me like several weeks Gronk returned from injuries and was used limited in a very spartan fashion.

I think NE sandbags on injured players till they have a legitimate reason to force them back into the fire. Their roster is always so deep they don't need to.

Enter Gronk's situation  into the equation and POW Hogan gets active in practice. Coincidence? Maybe but doubtful.

I think if he plays he's a solid #3 WR or flex and I plan to play him over Mike Davis.

Chris Hogan (shoulder) is practicing Thursday.

It is his second day of work in a row, putting him on track to return against the Dolphins on Monday night. In a good matchup and with Rob Gronkowski suspended, Hogan will be an upside WR2.

I'm sitting Funchess in my flex spot and starting Hogan with confidence--if Gronk was playing I'd be more reluctant, but it's a great matchup and he should at least get some love in the redzone

Knowing NE I think they may not play him until they are in the playoffs.  They don't need him to beat the FINS, so why risk him to further injury.  IF I was playing him on MNF I would have a back up Monday night WR in my pocket. I would tread lightly on this situation.

Could NE beat the Fins sans Gronk & Hogan? Of course. However, why would NE even risk it if Hogan is actually ready to practice and play? They aren't exactly dripping with WR RZ targets right now and the RBs get a little more defensible when the middle of the field isn't being stretched by Gronk.

They can't afford to trip up here. I think it's all hands on deck in a divisional roadie. If he keeps practicing without a setback, I see no reason for them not to play him.

this is my thinking. He's def on track to play, so unless you have better options, roll him out and see what happens.

Unless Hogan is removed entirely from the injury report I think starting him is risky and you better have a plug-in.  I have him on my bench right now but if I change my mind and start him I'm going to pick up DeVante Parker as a late plug-in just in case.
