Chris Johnson week 2 vs. the Bengals (1 Viewer)

Trying to talk myself out of benching Turner against the Bucs for Chris Johnson, to go along with Barber. Can anyone talk me out of it?
I have the exact same decision in one of my leagues.. & my bro & I are leaning towards starting Johnson over Turner as well.. It's really tough & could turn out to be stupid to bench a guy after getting 220 yards but you have to think the Bucs D is going to stack the box this week & make Ryan beat them. I think Turner will still do fine but I fell there's more upside with CJ this week..

i'm going back and forth between starting him over jacobs this week. jacobs had a good week last week and westy performed well against the rams. everything points to solid performance for jacobs but the match up just looks really good for johnson.

I may start Thurman Thomas over him in a PPR, but I'm undecided.

Kidding. I'm starting a stud #1 in both of my leagues, but aside from Perry, Fargas, Rice & Stewart... LBJ is my saving grace and will probably be starting him every week.

(Keeper league, w/ 3 divisions)

I'm playing the likely division-best team this week and need a home-run, not just a solid performance. I kept MBIII and AP from last year. I think I'm starting AP and CJ this week: I like CJ's matchup and I think he has the potential for a homerun here even though MBIII will undoubtably be solid.

Two weeks ago people would've laughed at starting CJ3 over such running backs as Portis, Jackson, Addai, and MBIII.

Just goes to prove that nobody knows more than the next guy until the season starts.

Let's keep "The Second Coming"'s train-a-rollin.

RB1 - ADP (v IND)

RB2 - Three way battle between BJacobs (v StL), Turner (@ TB), CJ3 (@ CIN)

I have at somepoint since the rosters opened had all three of them in the RB2 slot. I really cant decide. Jacobs' matchup is intriguing and probably the safest bet for a 10-15pt performance. Being a Bengals fan, I know how much of a potential for a huge game this is for CJ3. But in typical Bengals fashion they will probably let me down and show up to play. Turner against TB is a tough call, he is the hot hand so I like him, but I'm not as big a fan of that matchup. ADP and Turner got the starts last week.

I was all set to start him over McGahee, but just sent McGahee packing and now have Brandon Jacobs to go along with AD. So it looks like I'll have to leave Johnson on my bench now.
Why didn't you try and upgrade another position with McGahee? Personally, in any league with PPR, or maybe any league period, I think Johnson is a better start than Jacobs. Jacobs will not be getting a lot of receptions, so even if he does score more (might not seeing as Johnson got the goal line touches until he got hurt after which White got half his carries and the 1 yard TD).Swapping McGahee for Jacobs and keeping Johnson on the bench seems like a wash. Someone mentioned that depth is good after the draft because not all projections are correct and injuries happen. Once things start to become clear, depth doesn't help you win the championship, trading McGahee and say Evans for TO and slotting Johnson in for McGahee does.

I kiss a picture of Chris Johnson every night before I go to sleep and then think about him realllly hard before falling asleep in hopes that I have dreams about him and what he's gonna do to the Bungles this week.We still haven't thought of a good nickname for this guy.I shall refer to him as Mr. Holdyourbreathwhentheballisinmyhandsbecauseicanripoffaseventyyardtouchdownrunatanymoment. If that's too long, we can just call him Mr. Hybwtbiimhbicroasytraam.Aside from that, the Bengals did give up 229 yards rushing last week to a bunch of guys not named Willis.
It's too bad the Titans didn't get VY any weapons this year.Word of caution: I expect that if the Titans are up with a reasonable cushion that you'll see a lot of Lendale in the 2nd half. Maybe 4 to 1 LW over CJ. On the other hand, the reason they could have that cushion could be the CJ has racked up.I'm a little surprised that you didn't see CJ in the slot or split out wide last week. Can you imagine putting him in motion out wide and a linebacker going out to cover him?

The game wasn't broadcast in my area and I don't have Sunday Ticket.

MBIII

M. Lynch

LJ

C. Johnson

I start 3 and am torn in a glorious way. Close to benching LJ, but he's up against a porous OAK D. Lynch has a tough matchup but will get the ball all day long. MBIII is usually a no-brainer, but what if Dallas uses Felix more heavily to let MBIII get over his ribs?

Whoever I bench will end up outscoring the other three this week, so if you own any of these guys, you might want to check with me just before game time.

I'm still laughing. These guys are studs. I couldn't imagine sitting some of these guys mentioned in this thread for Chris Johnson.

once i get finished kicking myself for not starting him last week, i am pairing him with westbrook. edge will be riding the pine this week.

I'm not benching any major names for him, just K. Smith, D. Williams, C. Perry, and D. Driver.But......we will see who is laughing Tuesday. I don't agree sitting him for Jackson or Barber, but you could make cases for Addai and Portis.

I remember seeing one play, maybe a 3rd down, that seemed designed to quick throw to Johnson against a LB and Young lobbed the ball with no touch over his head.

Good thing I didn't see that. I probably would've lost my voice screaming at the T.V. Haha

I like having Collins in there. Good veteran QB who will go through all his reads.

It was pretty bad. IIRC, Johnson motioned to the slot and easily got behind a LB. Any touch on the ball at all, and he's in space and already running with it.(this isn't to argue against wmi's point - i didn't see the whole game, but that's the only play I recall like that. Johnson catching passes out of the slot for a bunch of yards was the compromise position in that long Johnson thread.)

Aghghhh the pain and torture of this decision!! I am starting Gore @SEA for sure, and LJ at home against OAK is a no brainer. I am left with starting either MICHAEL TURNER OR CJ3 in the flex spot.

I can't believe I am considering benching Michael Turner @TB....but I just may do it!

I'm going to have to see a shrink just to make it through the week!!

My thoughts exactly, and I have the same trio of backs. Almost tempted to start Ryan this week (over Bulger or Palmer) in a 2 QB league because they're going to stack the box on Turner.

Non PPR league. Starting M. Lynch and C. Portis over C. Johnson (drafted 10th in a 12 team redraft league). I also have Forte on the bench.

Did I miss something? Won't Lendale still get some goaline work?
not necessarily...here's a quote from Fisher..."You saw this afternoon that he can carry it inside and outside, he can catch out of the backfield, he can handle screens," Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said. "I wouldn't hesitate to give him the ball in short yardage situations because he's so quick. He's a complete back. Obviously he's a little bit undersized (5-11, 200) but he makes up for it with good speed."

With 2 RB slots, 2 WR slots and 1 RB/WR slot to fill in my PPR league, Westbrook and Bush beat out CJ3 for the 2 RB slots, and I like Megatron and Brandon Marshall in the 2 WR slots. CJ3's going in the flex slot ahead of Lynch, Boldin and Santana Moss. That pretty much ensures that one of those 3 will be lighting it up this week, I expect.

I need to know who I should bench ... I know CJ3 is gonna have a HUGE game against Cincy....who do I put him in for...in a 3 RB league. My options are:

Willie Parker

Marshawn Lynch

Marion Barber

Who should take a seat to let CJ3 play?

Thanks!! :lmao:

Funny how opinions change so much after one week. I get berated last week for starting a similar thread and starting CJ3 over Edge. Now everyone and their brother is starting him.

Anyway, I start him over anyone except: Westbrook, LT, AP....pretty short list. This week against the Bungels might even start him over those 3. Yes, he's that good.

I thought (and still think) you were unfairly hosed in that post. You said from the very start you were going CJ3 over Edge.
