Johnson has done well so far this season. He's been a solid RB2 in most league formats. But he hasn't had that one special game, that one defining game where everyone stands back and realizes they've just seen greatness on the field. In recent years, we've seen games like that from prized rookies such as Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson. But we've yet to see such a game from Johnson.

Could this be the week that we do?

This week, he faces the Chiefs who are the proud owners of the worst run defense in the league. The Chiefs give up 182.2 rushing yards a game. They have allowed eight rushing TDs in their first five games and they have allowed three 100-yard rushing performances this season. Included in that group were two monster games - a 164-yard/1 TD performance from Darren McFadden and a 123-yard/2-TD game from DeAngelo Williams.

Is this the week Johnson goes off? Is this the week where everyone who drafted him can say with pride that is the reason why we liked him so much?

I'm thinking the stage is set for a huge game from Johnson this week. What does everyone here think?

Week 13 against the Niners. Bush had four TDs - 3 rushing/1 receiving. He caught 9 passes for 131 yards in that game. He was an absolute monster for his fantasy owners that day.

I was there, that was a great game to see in person. Bush was unstoppable, he had one TD where he had 4 guys hanging on him from 6 or 7 yards out and powered into the endzone. Good times

Well it would be about time Chris Johnson did something worth talking about, considering all the pre-season hype he got here.

This is the same team Deangelo Williams went off for 3 TDs against in Week 5.

 get ready....

On Christmas Eve 2006 I was at the game when Bush OWNED the Giants for 126 pts and a TD. This was likely a playoff, perhaps fantasy championship in some leagues. He treated the Giants like a pop warner team and put them out of playoff contention IRRC. He played with a ton of attitude in that game. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=261224019

FACT: Reggie owned the GMEN that dayFICTION: The Giants were not bumped from PO contention, they made the playoffs that year, winning the following game against Washington to get in.

He will do well this week (90 yards rushing and a TD) but I am thinking his big game comes the following week at home v Indy on MNF.

Is this the week we see him more involved in the passing game? Fisher needs to get the guy into space more. Spreading the defensive formations will help loosen up the inside for both he and Lendale.

In my league, and probably in many, the Reggie Bush owner's team was done by that point, thanks, in part, to Bush's regular season performance...

I guess 75 all purpose yards and 2 TD's, against the 3rd best rush D in the NFL, just isn't enough for some people.

Not mine. That was the start of a major Bush-fueled run toward the finish line in my league. Unfortunately, my league wasn't a PPR league at that time. I sure as hell wish it was given what Bush was doing. Oh well. Bottom line - the guy generated some major games as a rookie. Peterson obviously did last year too. Johnson got a lot of hype this summer. Many people, myself included, have been waiting for him to deliver that special kind of game. Hell, McFadden had it against the Chiefs. So I'm hoping this is the week we see that game from Johnson that will have us all saying "Wow" Sunday night.

Well it would be about time Chris Johnson did something worth talking about, considering all the pre-season hype he got here.
Well, he is the #17 back and he's through his bye week. He's 2 pts behind Lynch and Sjax (who both had some hype as well) that I'm sure were both taken at least 3-5 rounds above CJ and he's consistently getting 20+ touches a game since the season started so I'd say the hype was justified and it should get better from here on out. He's played 40% of his games against top 4 rush defenses and over the remainder of the year he's got KC (32), Ind (29), GB (27), Det (31), Cle (25) and Hou (24) to come. He's also got a few tough matchups against the Jets (3) and Chi (5) but overall he's got one of the best strength of schedules remaining. If you aren't on board, get on if you can. He's a guy that's going to win leagues for a lot of people.

I love this well thought out optimism!!!

This is the same team Deangelo Williams went off for 3 TDs against in Week 5. get ready....
KC is coming off a BYE and playing at home... I think they'll play the run somewhat stiffly. Johnson could still have 80-40 though.
I tend to agree. Even though as a Johnson owner this seemed like the week to prepare for, I think that the situation is not as good in reality as it seems to be on paper. The Broncos came in to Arrowhead a couple of weeks ago as a pretty heavy favorite and they lost by 2 TD's. Don't get me wrong, I think Fisher will have the Titans prepared, but the Chiefs will certainly not be letting CJ run all over them.

White was injured and used sparingly against Bmore. White said that the shoulder really limited him but, he expected to be healed after the light load against the Ravens and the bye-week. White is going to see many more carries than we LBJ owners would like to see against the lack-luster Chiefs D.

Stewart got plenty of carries for the Panthers in the game DeAngelo went off against KC. There should be more than enough touches for Johnson to shine. The question is will he go off the way guys like McFadden and Williams did against the Chiefs?

My opinion is that even if White were healthy he wouldn't have gotten the touches. Make no mistake, this offense is built around CJ, not White. CJ will get his carries and it looks like they want to keep him in the 20 touch range. White will get more carries this week but they will probably run the ball 35+ times.

How much value do you think Johnson has going forward both this year and in the coming years? I'm in a PPR performance dynasty league and was offered Houshmanzilla for Johnson and a 2nd round rookie pick next year. Already have AD, MBIII, and Forte so I'm considering it. :coffee:

We are about to wintess the greatest 3 game rushing performance by a RB in NFL history.

The Broncos aren't a running team this year and they sure as heck didn't run it nearly as much as they should have in that game.

I think it depends on whether the game is competitive or not. The more that the Titans need Chris Johnson in the game the more that he'll be able to produce. At the very least he should have a very strong performance. We'll see if it's something magical.

That is correct. Young avg 4.5/carry and Pittman 9.0/carry that game, but Cutler still threw the ball 49 times.

I'll take the field in this one.The Chris Johnson hype is a little ridiculous. He's a small back slightly faster than others playing on a team with no passing game and has a TD vulture at the goal line. Here, just off the top of my head.. he needs to beat:590 total yards10 touchdownsin 3 weeks. LT did that over a 3 game span in 2006. I'm sure I can pull up some more.

Dont think he was serious chief.

In a word - yes this was the week Johnson owners had been waiting for. It took him awhile but the long TD run was something many of us have been expecting out of him since the start of the season. It sucked that White had an even better fantasy day but Johnson certainly took full advantage of a prime matchup and delivered.

Next up - the putrid Colts' run defense next Monday night. :goodposting:
