Christian Ponder Has Been Named The Starter for Minnesota (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on what this means for Peterson... good or bad?
Good, if anything. Peterson will get his carries regardless and it's not as if McNabb was doing anything to keep defenses honest. I don't see how this could hurt him.
It really can't get any worse than TEN guys in the box. I think overall yardage will improve. I expect they'll run the ball better with Ponder at the helm. He's coming into a very good situation--teams key so much on Peterson that many receivers see single coverage--and he already looks more accurate than McNabb on crosses and slants. But I expect Ponder to turn the ball over more than McNabb did, so scoring may not improve that much.
Yeah, hard to imagine how this could be bad for Peterson. At worst it's a wash.I haven't seen any Vikings games this year but my impression from perusing game logs and such is that McNabb has been a really easy out on 3rd downs. If Ponder is even a little better at moving the chains then it should bode well for AP.

McNabb was 28th in 3rd down conversions with a 4.3 YPA.

Anyone think Shiancoe gets a bump now with Ponder as QB?
No. If anything, I'd expect Rudolph to see more time in a youth movement.
Rudolph deserves more targets. He has good hands and speed for a TE. Shiancoe was McNabb's favorite target, if anyone's worse off for the the switch it's him.
Rudolph is going to be a stud. Great trade target in dynasty leagues before he gets noticed. He remins me a LOT of Rob Gronkowski, but Rudolph is more athletic. He was a stud basketball player. Rudolph is tremendously athletic for his size & has hands like glue.

I was going to disagree with your comparison. I assumed Gronkowski has a good deal more size than Rudolph. But I looked it up, both are listed at 6-6 260 lbs. I didn't realize Rudolph was that big.

Ooof.

Watched Ponder on Sunday night. While I'll stop a hair short of saying he looked good cause he didn't manage any points, he sure looked better than McNabb. He had both the competitive spark that McNabb seems to be missing and the accuracy that McNabb only has 1 out of every 3 throws. I really liked his mobility and presence in the pocket - he "felt" the defense coming and shifted around pretty nicely, all while keeping his eyes downfield.

I'm sure he'll have his turnovers and other rookie issues, but I liked what he did Sunday night, and I think he showed more than enough to warrant this switch.

I think it's a solid move. McNabb looked like he didn't really want to be there on Sunday night; the one tackle where he was pushed down, the safety, and his attitude all seemed to say "just get this over." Ponder showed evasiveness (at least three times he escaped what would have been a sack of McNabb) and seemed to have a decent command of the passing game during his brief time in the game. I'd expect a week of adjustment from the receiving corps, though, as they get used to not having to catch the ball at their shoelaces.

LOL @ Ponder being behind Matt Moore on the Top 250 going forward list.

Furthermore, he needs to be at LEAST 8 spots higher... for now.

supposedly rudolph and ponder are best friends. anythong to see here? how many snaps does rudolph usually play?
