Has to be one of the worst coaches in the league. He should go back to college where the games are irrelevant.
Nice thread. Do you have something to back it up or did you just want to get that off your chest?
Have you watched any Eagles games this season?

Already in this game:

Kicked the extra point instead of going for two when down 14-12

Let time run out and take a delay of game instead of either going for it or attempting a FG. Even Joe Buck (who I hate) realized this was dumb.
I think you need to go back to watching college ball. He kicked the extra point in the SECOND QUARTER...in a game widely predicted to be very high scoring.

The delay of game was in no-mans land...a 55 yard FG for a kicker who was struggling, yet still a bit far away to go for it....a PERFECT spot to at least try to draw the defense off side. It would have been even dumber to waste a timeout since the distance was irrelevant to a punt.

Get a clue before attacking.

I have my doubts about Kelly... but I am more concerned about the team completely quiting on him by mid third quarter...

BTW... in the first half you NEVER go for 2... idiot.
Let me guess, you also kick field goals and/or punt on 4th & 1 when trailing.
by 20+ in the mid fourth quarter, on the road, against Peyton Manning when your defense has been thrashed like a red-headed stepchild?

Yes....go ahead and kick it.

:lmao:
I'm not sure why you think that's funny. It is mathematically incorrect.
Show your work.

I thought Kelly did a fantastic job 1st half keeping Manning & Co off the field.

Unfortunately they had nothing left in 2nd half.

What people don't realize is the Eagles are a bad team and have have been for many years. It was time for Andy to leave and I am happy to see him have success. I am also buying in 100% into Chips program. Realistically, this is a minimum 3 year process. Lets face it Chip is working with guys even Andy couldn't win with. Let Chip have a couple offseasons then make your remarks.

While the points made in this thread by OP don't really hit the mark, I agree with the sentiment here.

Settling for FGs, fully knowing the horse#### you call a defense has the job of stopping Peyton Manning was a mistake.

Taking that delay instead of going for it on 4th down was also a big mistake. Peyton just shoved it down their throats anyway. Wouldn't have mattered if he took it from the 40, or from the 2. It was still happening. If you go for it you not only make a statement to your team, but you potentially can take the lead. Even trying a FG there is a better solution than taking the delay and punting. The game was over, right there.

This won't be a positive idea in the Fantasy world, but leaving the starters out there in the 4th quarter down 30 pts is pointless. I can understand the whole "getting them some reps" idea, but THEN he punts the ball away on 4th and 10. If you 'care' enough to leave your starters out there, then go for the ####### first down and stop punting like every other chicken#### NFL coach.

So yeah, I agree -- Chump Kelly :)

6 straight games with 400+ yards of offense to start a season. Ties an NFL record. Done with 2 different QBs.

Sounds like a real chump

We'll see if he continues to start Foles over Vick or not, he already made the wrong choice to start the year, we'll see if he makes the same mistake again once Vick is healthy.

 Yea cause foles really shined in the preseason. If he started foles over vick with the way both played he'd have lost half the locker room right from the jump. This is the scenario I envisioned. Vick gets hurt. Foles comes in and either plays well enough to keep the job or sucks and vick is back in.

to be fair - the OP was responding to events that occurred in a single game (vs Denver) a few weeks ago. Kelly was being extremely conservative in a game vs Manning.

Of course he isn't a chump - It was a heat of the moment statement immediately after a game.

It was in the middle of the game and his first post after the OP was

Entering NFL week 7, the Eagles offense ranks 3rd in yards per game and 4th in points per game.

If they only had a defense...

Through 10 weeks, offense is ranked 4th overall.

eta: Had to adjust per game.

The last three weeks, the Eagles have netted 478, 475 and 451 yards of offense, the first time in 60 years (!) they’ve netted 450 or more three straight games. They’re only the second team in NFL history with 10 games in a season with 425 or more yards.

I hope Kelly's offense can work in the NFL.

:coffee:

and the Giants plod along with KillDrive, a playbook that every opposing DC has in their back pocket and zero creativity.

What is Kelly doing that is unique and difficult to stop in the NFL?
He's taking the most logical principle of matchups and made it the whole offensive philosophy. So if one week the team you're playi ng is bad covering the TE, attack their defense using the TE (AZ game). If a team is really bad defending the run, run them over (Chicago). He designs the plays each week to exploit the weaknesses of a defense.

He also has a really good offensive line and scheme for them.

Not to mention perhaps the best training/conditioning/nutrition programs in the NFL. Plus, look at his in-game communication system for getting plays in.

Yeah, I did read about his new nutrition/fitness program. I didn't know how much that affects the team, but perhaps it really does. Thanks for the responses.

Could be a coincidence, but the Eagles are among the healthiest teams in the league. Wouldn't surprise me if they've had the fewest number of different starters.

As much as I dislike the Eagles, this team is very entertaining to watch.

To me, the most significant issue is this style of offense in year #2; Kelly has proven it can work, but is it sustainable?

Give DCs an off season to study and prepare. I wonder what happens?

I don't know the answer but an anxious to find out.

To kind of piggy back off of what Insein said above, teams will adjust but the main reason for his success is him attacking a teams weakness week to week. Unless these DC's find a way to mask their weaknesses his offense should be sustainable so long as we're healthy.

Kelly's system simply takes what the defense gives them and exploits weaknesses in the personnel on the field. Nothing really revolutionary about it.

But he was out-coached by Stanford!

Yeah, it really is pretty simple. Would/will be interesting to see if they go up against SF or SEA who has the defensive personnel potentially overcome the mismatches.

But overall, it's about Kelce or Foles finding the soft spot on a given play and going there. Only way to scheme against that is to have no soft spots, which is pretty damn hard.

Their #1 ranked O-line from LT to RT have all played over 99% of snaps this season. 99%. Think about that. Peters missed a couple of series in one game. I'd say he might be on to something...
