Try to limit to 1-2 a week usually just when I am drinking. Big fan of acid cigars especially acid one. Use cigar international almost exclusively except for jungle Jims in Cincy.
What are "acid cigars"?

I'm no aficionado. I smoke Cubans like they're going out of style whenever I travel to japan for business. I'll buy cohibas and other decent cigars (under 10 bucks a pop usually) while here in the US for usual smoking. I don't know what I like vs. don't like, other than I think I generally prefer milder ones (though with a good Cuban rum, a nice strong Cuban cigar is incredible).
Acid cigars are flavored cigars. Not my thing at all - imho, comparing them to a Cohiba (even a non-Cuban Cohiba) is like comparing JD and coke to a glass of good scotch. But to each their own.

They are a very safe cigar to get for the FF draft (etc), when a bunch of guys who don't typically smoke will partake.
Very few lines of Acid are flavored
really? I did not know that. Never had one that wasn't.

I have a feeling flavored doesn't mean the same thing to me as it does you, while it is true that the acid lines are infused with florals and butanicals I don't consider them flavord in the same vain as CAO or Oliveros flavored cigars cush as Vanilla or bella donna or moon trace.

Of the acid only the gold (tea flavored) is in that category in my mind.

I've been on an Acid Kuba Kuba kick lately

Box of 24 every other month - love em.
One of my favorites. Such an amazing, unique experience. I love a Drew Estate Java too when I'm in that mood. Highly recommend, I always have plenty of both in the humidor.
Kuba Kuba is great, but if you like that try their 1400 CC.. it's even better.

I used to order one box of Kuba Kuba/ year but then I moved over to the higher end 1400CC and haven't looked back...
Just ordered another box of Kuba Kuba's

But will give the 1400 CC's a try - thanks for the heads up.

do you get the kuba natural or kuba maduro?

As far as I can tell, the 1400cc is still mostly a similar infusion to the Kuba... but with a Connecticut wrapper... and I'm not cigar connoisseur but the greatest predictor that I'll like vs. dislike the cigar is the presence of a connecticut or natural wrapper.. the dark wrappers just don't work for me.

I get the regular Kuba Kuba's - the lighter version. Maduro's are darker - not a fan of those.

Always thought Acid's were for the hipster younger types that can't handle real cigars. Although I've never had one -- this is just me judging by the ads and the "infusions" and special weird ring gauges and stuff.

infused cigars. More of an herbal vibe than a true cigar.

Good change of pace... or good for someone not that into tobacco cigars
I smoke the Isla del Sol from Drew Estates but I'm cigar snobs probably think I'm a #####. its infused with a coffee like flavor and has a sweetened tip. I love the sweetness and gets comments regulary from golfing partners about how great they smell.

I've had those, you know I wanted those to be great as they definitely seemed like a good idea (coffee flavor sounds great) but I was disappointed by them. Didn't seem like enough of a coffee blast and I thought the batch I got had pretty poor construction.

At the end of the day really that's all I'm looking for... if the cigar is constructed and burns well and evenly (and I don't have to relight it more than once) and if it has a light wrapper, I'm going to be happy 90% of the time.

But I hate poor construction

Love cigars, although it sounds like you're smoking a lot more than I do... enough that I'd be a tad concerned about the smoke/tar as regards to the carcinogens.

It's a summer thing for me... 1 a week give or take from April through about now... when it gets cold outside I pretty much give it up.

Sometimes it's something like like a Nub Connecticut or if I'm feeling like something infused an Acid 1400cc

or sometimes it's something really quick and fast with friends in a tailgate situation like a good old fashioned "Backwoods" from the convenient store.

But overall.. there's nothing quite like the summer months and having a drink outside, smoking a stogie, and listening to a baseball game or some music on the deck.
Hold on. A Dentist who smokes cigars? Aren't you guys kinda against that when it comes to oral health? Not trolling here because I love cigars, but I stopped a while ago because of the risk of oral cancer. Not that I stopped smoking cigarettes (which is has proven bad for my teeth), but I find it interesting that a dentist who knows the risks smokes them.

If you have some tips on how to enjoy cigars while keeping risk factors down, I would appreciate it. I miss them.
I know the risks. But there's a MONSTER difference between about 30-40 cigars a year and daily pack a day smoking, daily cigars, year round cigars, multiple cigars a week which could bring your total up to nearly 100 cigars a year.

Much like with alcohol, moderation is the key.

Most dentists I know have a humidor and love to kick back with a cigar and a scotch, but they do so very infrequently... most of the guys I know have a bottle of scotch that will last half the year and probably smoke even less cigars than I do... more like 15-20/yr

That amount of abuse just isn't going to harm your body very much
Linky??

I'm a real dentist you don't need fancy research information from biased sources.

Here is what I see from having seen thousands of patients:

Frequent cigarette smokers.. tons of gum disease

Frequent chewing tobacco peeps - tons of gum disease and a lot more oral cancer

Cigar smokers - rarely do I run into someone that i'd classify as "Frequent" and of those who just say they partake in moderation: almost no perceivable difference from non-smokers other than a little stain.

I've had some pretty ####ty connecticuts...the wrapper seems like a weird thing to hang your hat on.
I've had ####ty of every type of cigar imaginable.

The darker wrappers just have a more bitter, full taste that I don't like.

I don't notice my difference in terms of ring size, length, or shape of cigars in terms of my enjoyment of them.

Of the couple hundred cigars I've had over the past 6-7 years when i had my first real one... the only things that stood out to me that determined whether it was an enjoyable experience for me or not were good construction and light wrapper.

####ty cigars are a problem no matter who you buy. If they aren't kept properly, they will be ####ty.

i have a humidor and everything. I try to keep them in good shape.

But I've noticed a few things..

the nicer cigar brands tend to have better construction.

Infused cigars like Acid don't last long and will really foul up your humidor so buy what you'll smoke in the next 60-90 days

Unfortunately not all retailers are as careful as they should be with cigars. Yes, good ones will allow for more fluctuation from what I've seen as well.

I would say most cigar smokers would consider them all flavored then. There's definitely a lot more than tobacco going on there (and I would say it's not good, but again, to each their own)

Cigars are definitely a true "you get what you pay for" item. You may not like every brand/style, but whatever you do like, the quality tends to increase with the price.

A couple of brands I enjoy that I didn't see mentioned yet are Padron and Carlos Torano.

I used to be a full-bodied cigar lover, but over the past few years, my taste seems to be gravitating toward the medium. My guess is that I'm discovering better quality cigars that draw better and don't have to be sucked on so hard to enjoy the full flavor.

Just lit up a cigar and went for a drive in my new Land Rover. Raised up the drivetrain, and I was bouncing around town like Hannibal.

Got back home, sitting out front finishing it off. Cloud 9 baby.

I actually prefer Java by Drew Estate over Acids. If you like coffee, you'll like Java. It's kind of like smoking your dessert.

Flavored cigars????

Take that crap to the AC forum, guys.
They are real cigars, perfectly constructed and very good. Try a drew estate java and an acid kuba kuba and if you don't like either one of them, I'll send you a habano Montecristo no 2 and a Fuente anejo 77 - shark - look it up. I guarantee you'll like the java and the kuba kuba.

Ok ok, maybe I will pick these up and check them out.

7 year loan?

Otis,

The next time you are down in the Bahamas stop in http://graycliff.com/ I'm guessing if his rolling was good enough for The Beard it will be to your liking as well.

My bad, I see he has gone back to Cuba. The cigars have not suffered in his absence.

Im firing up a nub tonight. Either going with an EO no 21 or Cusano M1.

Not much better than relaxing outside, smoking a cigar, and drinking a couple cocktails.

You're right, not much that is more relaxing than that. I had a nice cigar (Padron 5000), a nice bourbon (Angel's Envy), and relaxing tunes going last night by my recently opened pool. Hard to beat.

Going on 7 years of cigar smoking and I've still never had a Nub. I need to get one, heard good things about them.

I just went to a cigar / craft brew tasting event last night at the Cuesta Ray / JC Newman cigar factory. Pretty cool event and it wasn't oversold at all. They had little beer stations set up all over the place so you could walk around and look at all the old cigar machines from the 20's. The place was filled with smoke and I enjoyed 3 shorty cigars along with a bunch of beer.

I like the Nub Cigars. I like the medium to small size Connecticuts.

I really don't want my cigar to last more than 60-75 minutes so I really shy away from the larger ones.

Headed to a weekend fishing trip tonight and definitely plan to get 2-3 cigars in

My new humidor will finish seasoning Friday. My old one has just been filled by a PA roadtrip. PA/NY border towns are funny - 20+ tobacco / fireworks stores on one strip.

I also like the Carlos Torano (Exodus Series for me). They're tasty and well constructed, Very rarely will I come across one that doesn't burn well.

Not an aficionado, but I tried these La For Dominiciana N.A.S. cigars this past weekend from a friend. They were delicious and made me kinda dizzy...I loved it.

I'm a married with kids ex-weedhead, any suggestions for the closest cigar to pot?

My favorite cigar lately has beenBrick House AMaduro. Moderately priced and my favorite to similar cigars I have smoked in the same price range

If you guys have a few minutes please click the link below and tell the FDA not to tax cigars anymore.

Flor de Oliva Gold is still my go to cigar. It's a mild, smooth cigar from Nicaragua that burns very nice. It priced very well too (about $50 for a 20 bundle robusto).

for the price there is no better cigar IMO

There are better cigars... but nothing close at that price point.

I am a 2-4 cigar a year kind of guy (usually a couple on vacation a couple more on the golf course).

Anyway, just had a couple Ashton Cigars and was very pleased.
