Lately I've been stocking up the humidor at home and crushing a fair amount of cigars. Not one every single night, but many nights a week I'll go out front after I get home with a drink and a stogie, look out at the night sky and trees, and smoke one. Sometimes I'll do multiple in a day.

Who else loves cigars?

Is this amount of cigar smoking really bad for me?

Also cigars aren't cheap. But gosh they're good.

Oh and I get super lightheaded -- almost stoned or drunk or something -- when I smoke cigars lately. Maybe I smoke them too fast or something. But lord do I feel good after I smoke one.

So yea, cigars. Great, right?

I love cigars. But I don't have the money to actually get in to them as a real hobby. Maybe one day.

I'm not dropping on boxes, but I'm sure you can find them on line

I usually just hit the local places and browse. Local mega liquor store Binny's has been solid. Buy via word of mouth more often than not. Have my BIL to thank for that find.

For special occasions..... these

www.cigarsinternational.com i pay about half of retail for cigars there. They offer a lot of combos with a free humidor to get you started. The stronger the cigar the more light headed you get. That's the reason Otis. I'd like to recommend Diesel as a damn good flavored and reasonably priced cigar. Don't let the name fool you. Black Pearl by La Perla Habana is also a fine every day smoke.

Love cigars, although it sounds like you're smoking a lot more than I do... enough that I'd be a tad concerned about the smoke/tar as regards to the carcinogens.

It's a summer thing for me... 1 a week give or take from April through about now... when it gets cold outside I pretty much give it up.

Sometimes it's something like like a Nub Connecticut or if I'm feeling like something infused an Acid 1400cc

or sometimes it's something really quick and fast with friends in a tailgate situation like a good old fashioned "Backwoods" from the convenient store.

But overall.. there's nothing quite like the summer months and having a drink outside, smoking a stogie, and listening to a baseball game or some music on the deck.

Love them, dabbled while playing golf for many years, but knew nothing about them.

A guy at work brought me a habana cohiba back in 2008 and I got hooked. 3 humidors and ~300 cigars later and I still love them. Don't smoke nearly as much as I'd like, and I have 2 humidors full of my favorites. I've really learned over the years what brands, what wrappers, and what sizes I like and dislike. Not much better than a good cigar, good company, and perfect outdoor weather.

What have you had that you liked so far?

I love the idea of smoking a cigar.

I really like the smell of good cigar smoke.

I enjoy actually smoking them, usually when playing golf.

I hate the way my mouth tastes the next morning even after brushing my teeth.

Thoughts?

I've been smoking cigars since the 90s. Hell I'm smoking one right now.

If you are light headed from smoking you are probably 1. Not used to smoking on a regular basis or 2. Smoking a cigar that is too strong for you.

This.

Oh and Ashton Estate Sun Grown was the first "holy #### that's a good cigar" for me... Outside at BBQfest tossing cornhole bags with some sponsors guest investor from South America. Great cigar on a great day.

Like Dentist, I smoke about 1 a week... maybe 2 once in awhile. I smoke year-round - I'll retreat to the garage in winter months to have one.

I'd LOVE to smoke one a day (or even one every other day), but they can get expensive, and the cancer thing is scary (I used to smoke cigs until 10 years ago - I'm 47). I always have a drink when I smoke - cigars and whiskey (or some choice beer) is a nice outside treat.

Good smoke, I like the VSG a little better, it's been a go to cigar for years.

Standard in my humidors is the Black Pearl, some Greycliffs, and the Media Noche, though there is nearly always a few strays as well. I am also pretty welcoming of a good corojo and there are a wide variety of them also in my humidors.

Hold on. A Dentist who smokes cigars? Aren't you guys kinda against that when it comes to oral health? Not trolling here because I love cigars, but I stopped a while ago because of the risk of oral cancer. Not that I stopped smoking cigarettes (which is has proven bad for my teeth), but I find it interesting that a dentist who knows the risks smokes them.

If you have some tips on how to enjoy cigars while keeping risk factors down, I would appreciate it. I miss them.

:goodposting:

I've recently gotten into them due to golf and my wife's extended family being really into them. Had Cubans, Dominicans, Cohibas, and plenty of cheaper options I don't recall.

Love the taste and the relaxing feeling of having one. However, I can't get through an entire cigar without my throat feeling terrible and I always wake up the next day with dry-mouth. Almost totally ruins it for me.

Lifes too short for mild cigars and dominican tobacco. Nicaraguan tobacco for a full bodied mildly light headed euphoric smoke. Depending on your mmarkt you can grab a wonderful rocky patel edge for $6 to $10...beats other smokes costing twice as much but dont drive while smoking lol.

I don't smoke them as often as you do, but I get the same buzz from them.

Big "yea" vote here.

I used to light up 5-6/week. Unfortunately, my 14 y.o. daughter started getting on my case about smoking them (used to smoke while I walked the dog) and now I only smoke 1-2/week while take a long lunch break at work. I got caught up a couple of years ago bidding on cigars. Was alot of fun and used to get the occassional "great" deal.

Best auction site IMO: http://www.cigarbid.com/ (affiliated with Cigar Int'l).

Cigars are good. Never really had the urge to try the non Cubans. In the non embargo world, why would you?

I like the Trinidad (preferably Robusto, the thin ones are a pain to keep lit), the Cuaba Generosos (although I think they may have gone out of production) and the Montechristo #2 (Torpedo). Honorable mention to Rafael Gonzalez Coronas which is a damn fine cigar.

There are some very fine non Cubans out there, just as there are some bad Cubans.

Padron, tatuaje, camacho, Fuente, CAO - all make some exceptional sticks.

I'm a robusto man too

My favorite cigar to smoke... Cohiba Red Dots, can be found for approx 15.00 in any cigar store. (Not liquor store)

Cigarbid.com is a great site to try different cigars without wasting money. Mark me down as a Robusto guy also.

Bellhop cigars out of Montreal will ship Cubans to the US at their risk. I ordered many boxes from them with no issues.
I've done this through cigarone.com a few times - they come from Switzerland. Love the Partagas Serie D no. 4, but I should probably find a less expensive smoke that I enjoy. Also, last time, they got snatched by customs and they had to re-ship to me.

Ditto. I only smoke one or two when playing golf, and occasionally sitting around the fire pit in the back yard. The cigar along with some spiced rum helps me play better golf and really enjoy the round. Yeah, the mouth sometimes tastes like a cow took a dump in there sometime during the night.

Try to limit to 1-2 a week usually just when I am drinking. Big fan of acid cigars especially acid one. Use cigar international almost exclusively except for jungle Jims in Cincy.

What are "acid cigars"?

I'm no aficionado. I smoke Cubans like they're going out of style whenever I travel to japan for business. I'll buy cohibas and other decent cigars (under 10 bucks a pop usually) while here in the US for usual smoking. I don't know what I like vs. don't like, other than I think I generally prefer milder ones (though with a good Cuban rum, a nice strong Cuban cigar is incredible).

You ask if the amount you are smoking is bad for you? It is.

I love the occasional cigar when golfing with my best buds, but outside of that I KNOW it's not a smart move and have never cultivated the whole cigar aficionado thing.

Google mouth cancer if you want an idea of what might await you if you keep smoking as much as you do. :X

Love most cigars from Davidoff. These tend to be too pricey for regular enjoyment so I leave them for special occasions (Vegas boys trips, Christmas party...)

I usually will only get that loaded feeling if I go for the 2nd smoke. Generally not a good idea for me.

A second cigar? I'd be puking my guts out.

Acid cigars are flavored cigars. Not my thing at all - imho, comparing them to a Cohiba (even a non-Cuban Cohiba) is like comparing JD and coke to a glass of good scotch. But to each their own.

They are a very safe cigar to get for the FF draft (etc), when a bunch of guys who don't typically smoke will partake.

Cigars killed General/President Grant. Did get to finish his memoirs though, so it was all good.

Very few lines of Acid are flavored

I know the risks. But there's a MONSTER difference between about 30-40 cigars a year and daily pack a day smoking, daily cigars, year round cigars, multiple cigars a week which could bring your total up to nearly 100 cigars a year.

Much like with alcohol, moderation is the key.

Most dentists I know have a humidor and love to kick back with a cigar and a scotch, but they do so very infrequently... most of the guys I know have a bottle of scotch that will last half the year and probably smoke even less cigars than I do... more like 15-20/yr

That amount of abuse just isn't going to harm your body very much

http://drewestate.com/brands/

infused cigars. More of an herbal vibe than a true cigar.

Good change of pace... or good for someone not that into tobacco cigars

I've been on an Acid Kuba Kuba kick lately

Box of 24 every other month - love em.
One of my favorites. Such an amazing, unique experience. I love a Drew Estate Java too when I'm in that mood. Highly recommend, I always have plenty of both in the humidor.
Kuba Kuba is great, but if you like that try their 1400 CC.. it's even better.

I used to order one box of Kuba Kuba/ year but then I moved over to the higher end 1400CC and haven't looked back...
