CJ Anderson (1 Viewer)

If you qualify it with at least 150 carries each season, you reduce it to just L. Miller and Anderson.  If you don't round up you get just Anderson.  Miller was 4.4948 YPC last year.

That is exactly what I think happened.  The qualifier got chopped off or there wasn't room for one but Clay tends to be specific with facts so I'll give him credit for what he meant over what his Tweet allowed.

Anyone nay-saying after last night is kinda silly. Carolina Run D looked soft? Cmon

He's going to be used heavily in most gameplans... he's got goal-line duty. He's catching passes. He's likely going to be running out some garbage time against lesser opponents as well.

He's going to provide exceptional value to those who got him in the 3rd...4th.... or later rounds. It's still very early to tell, but after week 1 this has the look of a good shot at a top 10 RB season.

Stats are fun though and tell you what ever you want.

Of RB's with at least 300 carries over the last two years total below are the players with YPC > 4.5.

Name - Rushes/YPC/ADP

Forsett - 386/4.9 /103
Bell - 403/4.8 /11
Miller - 410/4.8 /12
Anderson - 331/4.7 /31
Martin - 423/4.5 /22
Peterson - 348/4.5 /6

Which of the above is not like the rest?

CJ.  He was in the playoffs for two years in a row.

One thing that was clear from the game is the Denver line looks awfully good. At times they were dominating one of the toughest front 7s in the NFL. Interesting that no one saw this coming. FBG's (Matt Bitonti) had them rated as a bottom 3 line. The last training camp report preached doom and gloom as well. PFF has them rated 28th.

Reading about those who went zero RB and got CJA late I don't know which is more ridicules:

1) Taking WR-WR-WR-WR-WR-WR-WR-WR-WR-WR and ignoring value because "that's what the strategy calls to do" OR

2) Playing in a league where you can get CJA so late.

I'm in 3 leagues and CJA went 1.10 (14 team), 3.12 (14) and 3.13 (14).

I kind of like everybody and their brother doing zero RB now. CJA in the 3rd as my RB2 behind Peterson...okay sure

What's the saying about zigging when others are zagging?

I was one who benched CJ last night...decided to go with McCoy & Ware.

Though it sucks that he's on my bench, I agree with others saying that Denver is going to be able to move the ball, and CJ looked great!!! I'm not benching him again.

Hopefully his benching won't cost me a week 1 'W'

Same here. I had him on my bench. That doesn't bother me much in week one.  We're all trying to figure out who the studs are and what role everyone will fill. As I was watching him tear it up last night, I wasn't thinking about how dumb I was for sitting him, I was thinking about the gem I found in the fourth round. It's the beginning of a long season.

Now when I make bad lineup decisions in week 10, I want to punch myself in the throat.

Car run def looked soft.  Will be interesting to see if cj can keep it up
I didn't see them looking soft and based on the talent they have on their roster I don't think they are soft.  Kuechly blew up several running plays.  I think what we saw of the Denver running game continues.  They put in a FB and Anderson was running hard and attacking.  I think with the young QB they will continue the formations with a leading FB and pound the ball with the running game.  There is more to come so C.J. owners just need to hope he stays healthy.

Kinda bummed that I passed on Anderson for Ingram in one league, and passed on Benjamin for Maclin in another. Both seem to have been foolish decisions. To be fair, I'd just read about Benjamin's alleged lack of conditioning, but it seems that was coachspeak nonsense. Anderson was a guy I really liked, but every time I've ever taken a Denver RB in all the years I've played FFB I've been burned or busted. Every single time. And I didn't know what to expect from the Denver QB situation. Ah well - it's a long season and I do like the guys I got. Too early for regret. :)

I would have passed on CJ for Ingram and still would today.

He looked darn good against what I consider a very good CAR defense.

There's injury risk to both players. Anderson looks like the focal point of that Denver offense, while the Saints are more pass heavy - and with Spiller back I'm not expecting another 50 reception season from Ingram.

Time will tell. If both stay healthy it'll be interesting to see who finishes with better #s. It's one game, but man did CJ look good.

Me too.  I own him in a couple leagues as my 3rd back because I went stud RB (by default, its what fell) in all non-PPR leagues.  One league is AP, Ingram, and CJ and I can start him at flex.

You know those guys haven't even played yet this season.  Slow down bud

I think this is the exact offense Kuniak wanted to run last year but got vetoed by Hollywood.

Well, I certainly didn't "ignore value" since I took 1) Hopkins 2) Robinson 3) Hilton 4) Landry.  And this is a pretty competitive league.  I assume he fell becuase of last year's bias which is a bit ironic since I was the one playing the CJ/Ronnie game all year.  Also, this is a 10 team league if that bothers you as well for any reason.

I'm curious to know where CJA was going in Redraft leagues if anyone can shed some light on that.

I'm pretty much strictly a dynasty player,  so I don't follow Redraft very much. The only Redraft I do is a 10 teamer with friends, but it's an Auction League. FWIW I got CJA as my RB2 for $18 on a $200 budget. Gurley, my RB1, cost me  $51.

Third or fourth round in most drafts.

I took him at 3:1 in a 12 team PPR redraft.

I picked 10th in a 12 team league and took CJA in the third round. Rawls was picked right before CJA, and Charles was chosen immediately after. L Murray was selected 6 spots later, just to give you some perspective.

From 2010 to 2013, under Kubiak, Arian Foster averaged 24 touches a game (20.3 + 3.4).  Anderson had 24 (20 + 4) Thursday night.  As long as he's healthy he's going to be fed.

Anderson's averaged 4.75/carry and 8.79/catch over his career so far.

The only two players to have at least 300 carries and put up similar numbers over the same time frame (2013-2016) are Jamaal Charles (5.01/8.86) and Lesean McCoy (4.61/8.80).

All my drafts he was in the 3rd.  3.1 in a 14teamer I was in, and 3.10 in a 12 team.

Sure CJ looked good, but those were the correct calls at the time too.

I was looking for CJ in the 3rd/4th in all my leagues, but don't have him on a roster.  Most of the time he was gone by the time I picked in the 3rd (didn't have a pick lower than 9th at all this year), and the one ppr league he was still there at my 3.9, so was Ingram.  So like you, I took Ingram and still don't regret it.  It's not like I reached for somebody, I just took what was the best value on the board.  Long season, and we have seen 1 game.  Sometimes the right pick at the time still turns out to be incorrect - that's the name of the game.

I chose CJ over Ingram at 3:1.  Not sure why, had a hunch this year with a rookie QB.  Lots of football left to be patting myself on the back yet.

Have had him the last two years.  Had a choice of keepers to pair with Gurley of CJ or Doug Martin, both at the same price.  I agonized all offseason about it but ultimately when with Dougie.  Still think it's the right decision but hate CJ not being on my team.

3.06 in 12 team 0.25PPR

This allowed me to blow my 2nd rounder on Gronk and still get two RB1's (Peterson 1.06, only 2 WR slots and a flex so I have 3RB in)

For everyone here patting themselves on the back, remember that Hyde went ballistic week one then didn't do crap the rest of the year.

I will admit to not taking CJ in ANY of my 10 drafts and still do not regret it. Denver still has a bottom-tier offensive line and 7th-round-sophomore-noodle-armed-QB. Defenses are going to stack the box against them all year long and make him throw it deep. This love-fest is going to be short-lived. If not, I'll be happy to come back mid-year and say I was wrong.

Anyone here who took CJ over Ingram is a flat out fool.  With the Unger trade and some other moves New Orleans vaulted to a top-10 offensive line.  Ingram was RB4 before he went down late last year (much more proven track record, imo) and the Saints have a top QB keeping the run game honest. Denver is literally the opposite of all of those metrics.

According to whose ratings that are actually relevant? For a little context on where I'm coming from, Kubiak employs the same zone blocking style used by Alex Gibb, etc. where they use OLmen that aren't necessarily suited for other styles. This is year 2 and the team has an almost entirely new OL based on how they fit Kubiak's schemes. And they seemed to do pretty well against a top-5-ish Carolina DL....

Coaches get way too much credit (and blame) for scheme. The NFL comes down to talented players.  The worst coaching staff in the league could win the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers and Dallas' offensive line. Kubiak had a talented offensive line for many years in Houston which was a big reason for Arian's success.  He did a little more with a little less in Baltimore but that was short-lived.

Fair enough -- agree to disagree -- Kubiak did well with those schemes with unknowns like Foster (at the time), Slaton, Forsett, etc., and Gibb's with those same  scheme made names out of unknowns like Terrell Davis (6th rounder?), Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, Clinton Portis, etc.. I'm not saying I'd take CJ over Ingram (for the reasons you pointed out) but I don't think people are being "fools", as you  state, for trusting that uber productive OL/RB-scheme history.

It was only one game but I thought Denvers offensive line did a very good job against an outstanding defensive line, while breaking in a new QB in his first game.

Denvers offensive line may have been relatively bad by comparison last season, but that was last season. The current group did a really good job in week one.

Got him with the 38th pick (4.2) on 8/27 and with the 40th (4.10) on 9/6.  Both full 1 PPR.  I'm cautiously optimistic.

Lolol. You must go undefeated every year. You know exactly who to take and who the fools are.

Ingram hurt?  Who would have guessed

Game reminds of Carlos Hyde's opening game last year and so many people told me if after that game they'd have picked Hyde in high second if they knew what they knew after seeing that game. In FFPC main even leagues that draft after the opener that is pretty much what happened, he moved from 3rd/4th round guy to late first/early second. No thanks for me, I was just glad it made Booker a cheaper handcuff for me to grab later.
