I just don't understand
What is the point in playing if you can't raid or defend. THAT is the whole game for me.

The worst thing about all of these games are the hackers that litter the top of the leaderboard.
The stats reset every two weeks

My latest Strategy (level 7 town hall -- have capability for roughly 175 troups: 2 Healers, 10-12 Giants, about 5 walbreakers, and the rest grunts and goblins. Try and take out the big guns first with the Giants and Healers, then send in the Goblins to clean up. This only works if you appropriately deal with the air defense.

The key to the gold/elix mines is to clear them as close to shield running out as possible. Keep these on the outside of your camp unless you have room inside the walls after all defense and storage is placed inside.
Breaking shield really just depends on how much you are currently storing and how much you plan to raid after you break it. If you're storing alot, you know you're getting attacked, so breaking shield with 5-10hrs of shield left for a single raid cuz you're bored probably won't benefit in the long run.
I'm at a different point of the game than many of you, but I see no point in raiding unless I'm seeing at least 6 figures of gold/elix available, or maybe if one is crazy like 200-400K. I hit "next" alot. Why raid for trophies after you complete the 1250 achievement? The trophies still come anyways.

Also, don't go nuts upgrading all your barracks. I still only have 1 barrack upgraded to the max and the rest are level 6. For the amount of those troops I make past level 5 it's not worth it. If I make them, I'll use my level 10 barrack. My camps hold 220 in total and I can fit all that into my 4 barracks (plus dark barracks I suppose) after a raid.
Before you raid, pump some troops that you always build into the barracks. When you start deploying troops in your raid, your barracks will start producing behind the scenes giving you a head start on the next batch of troops needed. Personally I do 3 giants in each barracks and 1-2 wall breakers. Those are the troops I always deploy first (unless I see a juicy camp full of resources on the outside of walls not defended...usually collectors that haven't been emptied in a long time). When I return from raid, the barracks are usually on the last giant (so there are already 8 new giants in my camps).

That's the beauty of this game, it's all server based so it's not hackable. You can't just give yourself unlimited resources, once the app checks into the server it will correct the app. Also, you can get app out of sync issues and won't be able to play. There are two "hacks" out there, and one that top guy may be using is that it will essentially keep you online 24/7 which prevents attacks and there is one that will let you simulate an attack.

I'm still under initial protection and I plan on waiting on the big stuff. The way I determine whether I should remove it or not is whether I can make the money/elixer back before my other builder finishes doing what he's doing. I generally have been having one builder doing longer builds and have the other one doing shorter upgrades.

Not a fan of the weapons thast target single items - cannons, archer towers etc
I prefer the splash weapons - give me mortars and wizard towers all day long.

Doesn't the game stop you from doing that? When I look at 1 Week Shield, it says "Cooldown: 35d". I'm assuming if you put up a 1 week shield you can't use it again for 5 weeks.

O, maybe. No clue. 12 hours left till noob shield is done. Will build some walls this afternoon. Th still at lvl 3

Working my way up towards being able to join the clan. TH level 3, mines and gatherers around 5-6 at present, still 2 days to go on my shield.
I went ahead and spent some cash on gems. Enjoying it enough that if it were completely free I'd donate, so threw that amount at gems so I can have more builders early.
Was playing on iPad, though, I just downloaded Bluestacks for the cpu and just started it there. Guess I have to get through the intro again before I can link it to the game on the iPad.
Though, part of me is wondering if it's slow moving enough that I'll just want two different accounts to play on. Might do that, just leave the computer one as a second game.

Level 3 TH here. Shield is about to expire so I barricaded my storehouses inside some level 2 walls with a level 1 mortar, level 3 archer tower, and two level 3 cannons, with a couple of strategically placed bombs. Wish I could watch some test runs to see how long my setup will last under duress.

Alright android guys... I'm playing this on my tablet and I decided I would blow the $5 to get the gems for the 3rd builder. The game won't let me. Says I don't have a valid google account. In settings it says I'm signed in via google +. I've never used google wallet which is what this game seems to want to use instead of through the play store which is where I've always purchased in game content. My wallet account does appear to be set up right with a valid credit card. Anyone else run into an issue like this with google wallet??

Build all the towers/walls you can. Put your storage and tower inside walls, if possible. there's not many walls you can buy at lvl 3, just do your best. I don't think there's a ton of strat for lvl 3 villages since you move to vl 4 so fast.

No if you try to log in during an attack on your town it will tell you that you are being attack and please wait. It'll give you a timer as to roughly when the attack will be over and you can log in.

Pro tip: don't think of walls or weapons as being anything more than a hindrance to the enemy. Your best defense is not keeping gold or elixir stored up. Spend it as much as you can especially when you are about to log off for awhile.
While you can successfully defend your your town sometimes there is always someone who is simply too high level and you have no chance to stop them. So just don't make yourself a target and keep those resources minimal when you aren't playing.

I care about resources more than trophies - but leaving my TH unprotected just goes against my grain.. Considering nothing is really destroyed when you're attacked I guess I shouldn't care. Trophies only make it more difficult for me raid.

They are extra troops that you can use in battle. They also attack opposing armies that attack your base.
I just tried attacking someone in a clan, only to get completely ambushed by a defensive army that appeared out of nowhere. I'll be avoiding clan towns from now on.

Initial shield runs out this evening... Had planned to have 40k to rebuild my castle and join the clan by tonight, but I kept finding other things I wanted to spend my gold on. So hopefully in the morning.

well, first attack today. Think I dropped too many units, will need to figure out the right amount. Had to cycle through a few towns first, there were some with < 1000 gold

attacking 101: use giants to draw fire while your wall breakers get the wall. Then unload the troops. If their walls are week just send in troops from all different directions.
Remember if you just unleash everyone from one spot, the wizard towers and mortars will destroy you. Spread them out.
When you get attacked and obliterated, watch the replay and see how they did it.
Finally don't be afraid to lose or to get attacked. The only thing you are losing is time. I was horrible when I started attacking. But just keep at it.
Also, there is a downside to going up in town hall too early. You get less money for attacking people of lesser "rank" than you.

Got Attacked. 3 times in 1 hour, including a revenge attack from this. Good times. Was saving up for th4, so looked juicy i bet. Started the upgrade now tho
