Right but Maddon tries to keep guys in roles and not disrupt the whole bullpen. Peralta has been the 8h inning guy for 4 years now. Maddon is extremely comfortable with him there. Also why I think he won't give it to McGee.

I'm just speculating though.

Aaaaaaand he gets the save. Off speed looked good, fastball was hitting 94. Had a K but also two deep fly outs, the final one being a shot to right that looked like a double but Harrison leapt and got it. Walked the leadoff guy. So, um, there ya go.

clint hurdle said melancon was not pitching today and that he would not bring grilli in in a save situation. Guess he lied about that second part but still remains to be seen who the closer is.

Melancon has been kind of shaky, for sure. Numbers might not show it but it's an adventure most of the time.

Carlos Martinez and Trevor Rosenthal have been rough this year (another lead given up in the 8th tonight). Good amount of H+S just by sheer volume. But WHIP and ERA are pretty atrocious for 8th and 9th inning guys.
