Closers, Closers in waiting, and Middle relief...... (1 Viewer)

santos is a ####### heart attack.
Loup closing today. Apparently just for today. According to ESPN according to Gibbons.

No word if he gave Santos a proper vote of confidence.
I don't think this necessarily puts Loup next in line. The Toronto bullpen has been worked hard lately and Loup is relatively fresh. They really need Buehrle to eat some innings today.

Nevertheless, I picked up Loup in Serious Biz.

Yeah I would think Delabar and Cecil would both get a shot before Loup, if it came to that.

FWIW, K-Rod is rocking a 90 MPH fastball and throwing the bird at Eephus after each "proven closer" quip.

Walden with a three pitch save in relief of Kimbrel, who gave up two runs and loaded the bases in a non-save appearance. Will be interesting to see if that had anything to do with the shoulder or was just rust. His velocity seemed fine.

Jansen's issues are pitch location. He got lucky Goldschmidt didn't deposit that missed fastball in the seats.

Nice to get a near clean save from him for once this year.

My proven closer schtick is meant for guys who get anointed with the label while being basically an average pitcher. Rodriguez doesn't fit the bill. Tonight he tied Goose Gossage for #20 on the all-time SV list which is pretty impressive considering he hasn't been a full time closer since he punched his father in NY.

I never liked the guy since the 2002 WS but I respect his ability to bear down and pitch out of jams. I'm amazed he's avoided injury considering his maximum effort mechanics. He's improved his command in recent years and has managed to stay effective in spite of a drop in velocity.

Mets management is so horroble. Bullpen was their biggest weakness and they ignored it completely this offseason.nothing disheartens a team more than a terrible bullpen. Even the astros tried to bolster their bullpen this offseason

Doctor Detroit said:
Pedro Strop is no bueno.
Rondon is their best reliever but they already said Veras will get another chance. If I was desperate enough I would add Rondon though.

Wow Frieri, wow.

This year has been incredible for closer meltdowns. Latroy Hawkins is like the most steady closer out there. :lmao:

don't forget K Rod
Yeah I missed out on KRod. I picked him up last year until he got traded adn he was damn good. Wish I had done the same this year.

I have Romo, Jansen, Holland in home keeper league.

Lindstrom, Soriano, and Balfour in Cake.

But my deep keeper has been a huge problem:

Santos, Parnell, Fields, Valverde, Hawkins, Doolittle, Hanrahan, Farquhar

Guys in bold are guys I still have. It's a mess, and I'm not sure it is relatively that bad based on what I've seen other teams have. In my home league one guy had Gregerson, Johnson, Valverde, Henderson, and Veras. That's a bloodbath.
