C'mon Panthers really? (1 Viewer)

What is up with the Panthers? Moore doesn't look comfortable at all and he even got benched in this game in favor of Clausen. Is Clausen starting next week? They're playing Cincy at home and that'll probably be another loss. Anyone have any insight as to what's going on here?

Moore is horrible. Still the play calling is laughable. All the other teams are selling out on stopping the run yet the Panthers are still running on the first 2 downs on almost every occasion. Then on 3rd down they usually get sacked. As bad as Moore has looked and he has looked bad he almost is getting no help by the play calling.

Wow, and I thought the Steelers with Bruce Arians were the only team suffering from this so far this yr

What does this mean exactly? Ive seen numerous people mention it, and each time im
I've only seen BassNBrew mention it, and he mentions it in almost every Carolina post.
I'm guessing that if there's a lockout, they're suggesting that the draft order would be the exact same for two consecutive drafts...or in this case, Carolina could potentially end up with the first pick in back to back drafts due to the lockout? Just my 2 cents.

Are the Easter Buuny, Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus running the front office as well?

Jimmy Clausen is the Panthers' starterPosted by Michael David Smith on September 20, 2010 12:47 PM ETAfter coming on in relief of Matt Moore in each of the first two games of the season, Jimmy Clausen is the Carolina Panthers' starting quarterback.Panthers coach John Fox said today that Clausen will start, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.Clausen is entering the starting lineup more quickly than the Panthers expected him to when they selected him in the second round of this year's draft, but Moore hasn't played nearly as well as they expected him to when they anointed him as their starter this offseason. In two games this season Moore has completed 20 of 49 passes for 307 yards, with two touchdowns and four interceptions. Clausen has completed seven of 15 passes for 59 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.

Anyone that thinks Clausen will be significantly better right now is delusional.

The Steelers are 2-0 even though they've had to play their 3rd and 4th string QBs, signed Flozell off the scrap heap in the off season when the starting RT went down (his name escapes me right now), and they had to play their 3rd string LT at times yesterday... I'm happy with their results :lmao:

As a Browns fan, at least this can give me something to look forward to! :lmao:I will be surprised if we win a game this season...Tampa Bay and Kansas City I was thinking were 2 of our easier games this year, and we lost both...

Thats the frustrating part. By starting Clausen you are essentially throwing in the towel for this season 2 games in.Moore is not that bad that he has to be pulled after 2 games. They playcalling and lack of playmakers at wide receiver is simply not his fault. Plus he is running for his life half the time. This is the same organization that traded up for Armati Edwards (who was inactive yesterday) but do not want to get involved in the Boldin or Vjax sweepstakes or wouldnt sign Housh for a measly 800 grand. VJax is exactly what this offense needs and has need for about 5 years.

Why is it delusional to think that someone they drafted to be their QB can step up and produce with a great running game and a WR like Smith on the field? Clausen seemed to take command of the offense when given the opportunity in preaseaon. I know what your going to say. Preseason! Give the guy a chance before you stick a fork in him and call him done. The play calling is a different story altogether.

There's some irony in bemoaning the decision to pull Moore after two games when most criticized Fox in the past for not having a fast enough hook. There's a lot more going on here than we see in the box score, perhaps Moore isn't commanding the huddle and it's evident the locker room doesn't believe in him. Or, of course, there's the possibility that Fox has never really liked Moore, which might explain why he was so loathe to replace a struggling Delhomme with him.

Either way, LONG season ahead for the Panthers it seems.

All of this x20.Fox simply has never liked Moore for some reason. Why would you pull Moore after 2 games but you simply refused to do anything with Jake last year and almost get confrontational when asked about it.

I just reviewed the play by play. In the first 3 quarters on all of their first and second downs the Panthers ran 21 of 29 times. On first down they ran 13 of 16 times. It's just too predictable. Obviously, they are a run team but still with teams overplaying that you have to pass on those early downs just to loosen the defense a bit. Even if it is just a bubble screen to Smith or something.

Exactly. Clausen was going to get in eventually. Trust me, I've watched all of Moore's snaps this year. He is simply not the same. He lacks the confidence to make throws and although he is lacking playmakers, he holds the ball too long among other bad habits. It's Clausen time, for better or worse.

I foresee a large chin in the Panther's future.
Richardson will never pay him. That said after seeing him yesterday I dont think Jerry has too much longer to live. What is this year 3 for his heart transplant? Life expectancy at 5 years so you do the math.
I think Richardson looks good, and the life expectancy for heart transplant recipients depends on many factors, but they can live for many years after the transplant.

All what you said is probably true but the average is 5 years. Plus he is 75. I would guess 2011 is his last year publicly involved with the Panthers.

1. He won't be paying for a head coach or GM to do nothing.2. He didn't pay guaranteed money on signings (or a 1st rd pick) this year that might not be playing next year.3. The team is extremely young (heard the youngest somewhere) and won't be losing prime years at the same rate as other teams.this whole season has been about financially positioning the organization to weather the lockout and plan for 2012.

Is Richardson paying a coach now to do nothing this season? Would he actually ask Fox to not play his stud RB's so they would lose, and therefore Fox would also knowingly lose his job? Every game should be played to win. Should the PSL owners ask for their money back if this whole season is about positioning the organization for a lockout and not about trying to have a winning season?

You could look at it that way since Fox has done nothing so far this year but lose. :goodposting:

There was a great article on the CBA situation that mentioned there probably would be a draft even if there is a lockout. Though I don't know if they would sign them to contracts yet. I'm guessing not because they want a rookie salary structure in place that would limit the big rookie contracts at the top of the draft.
