Coach of the Year (1 Viewer)

Hell, if they give Belichick coach of the year in 2007 after he got caught cheating and allowed the "greatest team in NFL, I mean, sports history" lose the Super Bowl, they may as well go ahead and give it to him in a year that he failed to even make the playoffs.

Mike Smith was named the winner, with Sparano 1 vote behind. Smith edges Sparano for AP Coach of Year

"Their achievements were reflected by the closeness of the balloting, with Smith getting 23.5 votes and Sparano 22.5 from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL."

"Just four coaches received votes despite a year in which a half-dozen did exemplary work. Tennessee's Jeff Fisher, the longest-tenured coach in the league, received three votes, while last year's winner, Bill Belichick of New England, got one."

"Smith is the second Falcons coach to win the award; Dan Reeves got it in 1998 -- when the Falcons went to the Super Bowl."

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times...Harbaugh got overlooked. Sad that not one of the 50 thought he deserved a vote. I'd be willing to bet that between Smith, Sparano and Harbaugh, its Harbaugh who makes the most lasting impact on this league.

congrats to smith. I still think what Fisher, Sparano(BP?), and Fisher did will be revisitted many times and this was an exceptional year for coach of the year candidates.
