Coaching rumors...seriously? (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Fisher in Dallas? I think Garrett is welcome back for another season, seems like a lot of teams would love for him to be let go of. Maybe my POV is skewed here.

Raheem Morris was about to be fired but there weren't enough coaches on the team to take over? This guy will go back to being an asst coach and he's gonna have a big chip on his shoulder.

Cowher to Miami makes no sense to me.

Both Bengals coordinators would make fantastic head coaches (probably even better fit than DC or OC), but I don't know that anyone will get behind either guy given the collapse of the team the last 5 weeks. There is a list a mile long of guys that swear by Mike Zimmer.

It seems like everyone was big on both Morris and Garrett just last year. Opinions change quickly.

What about Indy for Cowher? No way Caldwell makes it and that should be a desirable job.

I also think Caldwell is gone, but I can't see a "marquee" guy getting hired. I actually think Zimmer to Indy could heve some legs. Lord knows they need to rebuild their defense.

In Chicago, look for a new OC, rumor has it Haley might be a candidate. Martz is all but gone to the ASU job.
As much as I would love for Martz to be gone from the Bears, Todd Graham took the ASU job yesterday. He left Pitt after only one season.

Ummm that job went to ex-University of Pittsburgh coach Todd Graham earlier today... Martz was never really under consideration by the school from what I heard.

I just don't ever see an independent thinking coach in Dallas sticking MOP... The Parcells experiment turned the franchise around, but he was ushered out of town as soon as Dallas was playoff worthy again, so JJ could get his clutches into the team. Garrett really hasn't been a hell of a lot better than Phillips. Penalties have probably decreased, and the team probably actually practices now.

A guy I really want back in the league is Billick.

Isn't this like the 5th heading coaching job this guy has in about 8 years or so. I am not all every coach should be Bowden, Paterno and Eddie Robinson, but at least stay three or years per stop where some sense of credibility can be established.

If the Cowgirls blow a couple more games and get bounced in the first round of the playoffs (assuming they make it), then Garrett just might have to fall on his sword.

Caldwell is as good as gone. Raheem Morris might (should) be a dead-man-walking.

Hang on, it sounded Billick was talking about matching up with the right team(s) on NFLN the other day.

There SHOULD be a vacancy for the Eagles defensive coordinator spot. Head coach too but that won't happen ( still dont get how though )

I brought this up last year (and had a light running diatribe with Bri); if the Giants don't make the playoffs I think that Coughlin is gone. The Giants won't allow a head coach to be on the last year of his contract and he is pretty old to sign to an extension. I do think that Coughlin has done a good job, despite the injuries, but there are many factors working against him here.

Zimmer had to have his guys and struggled meshing up with Parcells unit when he started altering the roster. He had the top D, I think, Parcells first year and then just dropped. He's had time in Cincy and I've lost track of him. I don't see them as a top D year in year out so he may still offer some concern to those hiring.Fisher seems to have backed into a lot of contacts on Andy Reid's staff over the years. I don't like the Reid chatter at all and hope it's just rumor. What's Stephen Jones say about Garrett? His quotes are usually indicative, not Jerry's.

Honestly they need a culture change in that town and I don't think it can happen with the current ownership. Dallas players seem to be more celebrity than football players with a sense of entitlement that's unrivaled.

Heard Billick is interestied in Miami. Add him to Gruden, the chin, Fisher, etc.

I really would like to see some new faces get a chance. The list of notables abover are fine candidates certainly but its nice to see a guy like Ken Wisenhunt or Tomlin come in and do well vs. a guy like Mike Shannihan get hired on name and do relatively little.

Basically at this point, if people would stop hiring people off the Bill Parcels tree they would be better off.

And if Tony Dungy would take the Chiefs, keep Romeo job and draft a QB, I would have a new favorite team.

Me too, because he is one awful announcer.

One of my favorites. His football intellect is phenomenal.

I don't understand the Billick love. I know he coached the Ravens when they won a Super Bowl, but wasn't the win in spite of him? His offensive was very unimaginative and predicatable, and he was a poor game day coach with terrible clock management skills and highly questionable play calling. I feel Marvin Lewis's D and Jamal Lewis won that Super Bowl but I could be totally wrong.
