Just got done watching the new episodes. This series needs to end already, and I really liked the early seasons.
I think there's a Netflix movie still to come to wrap it all up and, mercifully, end it.

I mostly agree with you, BTW. The first couple seasons were great, but by the time they were “updating” TKK3, it was like, why? Are they going to bring Hillary Swank back next?

They made it way too serious. The humor from the first couple seasons is gone. I only got 1 episiode into this new season and just stopped watching.

I agree but I also agree with the detractors that it kind of needs to end. It definitely has less of the Johnny goodness that made it so great and way more stupid drama issues.

Its become very predictable, their karate moves have deteriorated (at least the main group's has). and its basically the same routine over and over.

True statement. It just went on and on and on. Just unnecessary and pretty repetitive. Need more Johnny being Johnny and not kids fighting the same exact choreographed fight over and over again.

I talked myself into it by saying most of the brawl was happening concurrently, and we were hopping around to different scenes all happening at the same time.
While that may be true it was still a redo of what we have seen already. This exact brawl of everyone fighting everyone has been played out.

Similar in many ways. Not the ending I expected. Then just to see we need to wait to finish this.
It’s dumb that everyone stopped immediately, as if this were a game before.

We finally watched part 2. Like most others we found it lackluster but are hanging on until part 3 ends.
I am in no way body shaming, but my god, in terms of casting, there could not be a less likely martial artist than Mary Mouser. Even as cheesy as everything is, when she can’t even lift her leg two feet off the ground, it is just so cringe worthy.
The brawl was not great but in some ways I did not hate it because the tournament was so boring.

Still love the show and will continue to watch. Having said that, the past couple of seasons have been lame. The most recent season has been downright horrible to me. Ha ha. It somehow lost its charm.

Ok good. Don’t get me wrong….we still enjoy all the nostalgia….but those first 2 seasons were awesome…then the slow decent.
I felt they could have ended it last season and we would have been satisfied.
It's never going to be confused with Breaking Bad or The Wire....but in terms of just entertaining; the show works. It's fan service. It's pandering. It's outrageious. It's cliche....but every episode just makes me laugh at how they pull off whatver they're trying to do. It's just stupid fun.

Watching Mary try and kick is like watching Deniro curb stomp the grocer in the Irishman.
The charm was the stuck in the 80's Johnny. He is masterful at that and it was excellent. Macchio is pretty bad and has been from the start but everything Johnny does is great. The last season or so really went away from that and that is why it has run it's course.
It's worse watching her try and run.

This right here. Johhny is the show.......and as soon as they started veering away from his "Stuck in the 80's" shtick....meh.
Macchio....yeah I think his character sucks ***. He is an *** 90% of the time. And Chosen? Man that is bad bad bad.
It was a heck of a ride for I say 4 seasons....it veered of course a bit last season and now this season it has run it's course.....We are sticking with it to the end though....it is mindless fun.

Elisabeth Shue declining to become a full-time cast member closed off what could have been a deep storyline. The writers could have taken that plot in several directions.
I, too enjoy Johnny's life peaking in 1984 and him never getting over it--but I can also see that maybe the writers feel that point-of-view has been exhausted. They have also gotten a lot of mileage of the rivalry between him and Daniel.
Kreese, Silver and Chozen have all had their moments, and there is not much left to say. I wish the Daniel/Kumiko story had gone on a little longer.

Ally coming back would have been great. Silvers storyline was excellent and I felt...man that is a perfect way to end it all...just like Karate Kid 3 was really the end as well. We won't talk about The Next Karate Kid lol.
Chozen was cool last season....and so far this season....meh. I guess like we are talking about...it has run it's course. One season too long in the end...but hey there are worse ways to kill some time.

I mean it is almost comical now. Every single episode is the same formula for these two. They try to work together, they don't see eye to eye, they get upset enough to try and fight each other, and then decide to work in harmony. And then they repeat that formula almost every episode.
This does feel like a clean ending at Season 5 may have been for the best but in the end, hopefully they can find a decent ending.

It was a brief scene but it was the shaggy looking guy (https://static1.colliderimages.com/...de-guzman.jpg?q=70&fit=crop&w=750&h=422&dpr=1) that Daniel quickly fights. Silver provides us a call back (which includes a flash back) to the character Daniel fights with in KK 3.
I liked that Chozen tamed that Dragon Lady from Cobra Kai. Cheesy as hell, but I was rooting for my boy to get some of that....

I didn't mind him showing up originally, since he is a part of the history and probably needed him. But he didn't need to come back again in these episodes.

By the way, I read all the reactions in here before booting up the second installment of this final season, and I’m glad I did. My expectations were so low that I came away surprised that I was moderately entertained. Thought the new baddies were fun, if cartoonish, and there were still a few great Johnny Lawrence moments (including his suggestion to shorten the plane flight).
