COD: Black Ops 3 (2 Viewers)

Thinking about getting this game but Im old and my reflexes suck. Am I gonna get butchered by 15 year olds on a sugar rush?
This game is on Amazons gold box deals for $35 if you order quickly.
Thanks for the headsup, but I if Im just gonna get slaughtered I dont want to deal with that frustration.
You'll probably get slaughtered at first, but you'll catch up. Bogeys is pretty old and he's really good. ;) The good news is that enjoying COD is a matter of expectations and perspective, and has nothing to do with skill.I'm a mediocre player with spurts of being a little better or a lot worse, but I enjoy the game more than many a lot better than me. The guy going 30-8 is quite often having a miserable time. Often the are constantly #####ing about the connection, the tactics of others, and are always one bad death away from needing a Throw Control. They expect to and feel entitled to go 100-0 every match, so anything less makes them miserable. The only times I've hated the game are when I start thinking I'm better than I am.Just get it, keep those low expectations and you'll have fun.
Thanks for the input. I agree having fun is the most important thing. I know Im not that good, and it amazes me to see some players be so successful. I just am very competitive, I hate losing. So going 5-20 or whatever is not a fun experience for me.

Just know you're going to start off low and have to work your way up. I'm playing just FFA learning the maps. I know most of them OK now, and my K/D is about .8. I've only won one game. But, my goal is to get me K/D above 1.0. It's fun to look at my stats for the last five games and see it over 1 and think "I'm on my way!"

You can always play in the moshpit or play the more objective type games. K/D isn't as important as getting the objective. You can have that guy or 2 that are really good just running around wrecking the other team and taking heat off of you while you are after the objective. If I go 5-20 but plant the bomb a few times or defuse or defend (whatever depending on game type) I still consider it a good game if my team wins.

Whenever I see or hear about the new guys starting it makes me think back ti when I started on COD 4. I didnt pick the game up until late and never played FPS games prior to the series either. What I thought was cover or the places I used to go make me :lmao: I also remember chasing my brother (who was on my team) and emptying about 2 clips in him and wondering why he didnt die....or those times I could hear them through the TV giving me encouragement like "Go hide!" :lmao: :lmao:
:lmao:I look back on my COD4 and COD:WAW days pretty fondly. I was an average to below average player back then, but had fun just doing whatever the heck I wanted as I largely played alone and had no expectations on myself. I distinctly remember one time playing WAW going like 23-3 one game and feeling awesome about how great a game I had, when all I really did was jump into a tank and kill a whole bunch of noobs who had no idea how to take me out (tanks were way OP'd in that game). Nowdays if I go 23-3 I'm pretty unhappy cuz of how few kills I got.

Nittany if you ever feel the urge you are more than welcome to jump in and play with us. You might find it helpful to follow some of us more experienced players around and see how we play the maps, take the angles, etc. We could always use more help in objective games as well.I totally understand if you don't feel comfortable yet though. But for the most part we are reasonable people. I stink at Gearz but Worm et al don't seem to mind me following them around and picking up their scraps or my general sucktitude (well, at least I'd like to think he doesn't).

What's your crew's policy on session joining? I have been online playing solo and wasn't sure if I should join in or wait for the invite.

I second this, I was terrible with Blops1, but the FBG's were accommodating and helped me out. I have sent a few guys invites that don't join, join up and let's have some fun. There are not many COD's that are fun solo, including this one.

Just join XBL party and we'll pick you up when we finish whatever game we're in.I've honestly just mostly stopped sending invites to people because most of the time they don't respond. But we usually only have 2-4 people, so the more the merrier.

:thumbup:Thanks guys, will do.I've got several guys on my friends list, but the couple of times I've been playing online, no more than one has been playing COD at that time. If there's a few people together, I'll jump in.What's the scoop with the downloadable maps? I got Nuketown for free, but don't have any others. Are there ones to buy that are necessary? Whenever I'd forget to mute everyone, while in the lobby waiting to load, I'd get constant chatter about "not this map again!" I'm wondering if I need to download new maps to not drive people crazy.

At shooting down opposing air support (gold launcher :flex:) or rolling my teams care packages....oh, and cannon fodder. Other than that I pretty much suck, but when you are playing with a regular group it can still be a lot of fun. I don't play much anymore if I log on and none of the people I play with are online.
I'll be back to multiplayer soon. I'm getting over my zombies addiction. Fittingly, it's not as fun now that I think I should be doing better than I am and I'm noticing just how much the connection sucks on zombies.

We have been talking badly about you and Zarnts as you guys ignore our invites in favor of Zombies :football: ....want to get that #6 player in the group so no randoms.

You finally get busted for reverse boosting on Hades acct?
Nothing like that at all(thats my story and I'm sticking to it)

New security protocols required me to enter in my username and passcode..... for the life of me I couldn't remember my pascode. Can you blame me, it's only been 5+ years since I've needed it.

To compound matters, the email I signed up for was not valid......ie: Wrigley.gmail.con So all attempts to retrieve my passcode were sent to an email address that doesn't exist.

After going round and round with microsoft, they couldn't confirm my identity. How could they, they only had my name, address, and credit card used on HADES account.

In the long run it's just easier to move onto another account.

So I jumped in for some big team battles yesterday (ground war? The one that has a variety of big team games. I figured a big team would help me blend in a little). Holy fudge, I had no idea what was going on. Probably need to play some big team slayer to learn those maps, but I didn't know where all the hiding places were and was getting toasted.

Played one game where you arm the bomb, or defend the location. K/D was 0/6. :bag:

Just keep plugging away. Have you tried matches with just the computer bots to get a feel for the maps?ETA: 2 days in with the PDW...only 10 headshots. :hot:

Isn't there a training ground mode where you only noobs are allowed to play? You may want to start there.

Yup, it's called Combat Training, no one over level 10 is allowed in those games.

Took a break from playing multiplayer and have been playing Zombies with a friend from work.

Was using the PDW online. Sounds like since they did the update, this gun sucks.

What are the better guns to use after the patch?

I don't like to camp. Nor do I care to use sniper rifles.

Like to constantly move without running around like an idiot.

I've been playing with my two boys against the bots, but we've mainly been sticking to the smaller maps. I know knows pretty well, but I haven't played enough of the big maps with them.I have played 4.5 hours, mainly in the FFA matches (which are the small boards) so I'm up to a level 18. I can't go into the Combat Training I guess.

You can play "local" multiplayer and choose any of the maps and play against bots to learn them. That is how I play with my sons, gets too laggy if we actually try to play more than 1 person online.ETA: You can also choose any of the various types of games so you can kind of learn how to play the different variations.

I'm enjoying the AN-94 right now. The Type25 and SCAR both received nice bumps in the latest patch so they may be worth a try, the SCAR more than the Typ25 probably.

Use the Laser Sight and just aim with that. It may help you get more HSs.

I'll be on tonight after I put the kiddies to sleep. 7:30 Central.

Wife is heading over to a friends munch carpet or something like that(I don't really pay attention anymore)

Whitemonkey jumped on with us last night and didn't even make it through a whole game before he (assumingly) rage quit.
Don't unfriend him just yet. WM has a baby. So might have had an emergency. I was playing and one of my kids took a spill so I jumped off to go to her. Next thing I know Clawyer/bshell unfriended me. But it all worked out. My K/D has gone up 5 points.

I've mostly only used SMGs and the MTAR, so I'm trying to play with other classes.

I've come to really enjoy a HAMR/B23 pistol class. It makes getting across the map less of a chore, and offers a great option instead of reloading in the middle of a fire fight. That B23 is really effective and fun to use.

I want to like the HAMR more than I do though. It seems really inconsistent and can sometimes be garbage in CQC (as it should be I guess). Sometimes it's great, but I'm not sure it really offers enough advantages over the trusty MTAR. Haven't messed around too much with other LMGs, though the LSAT is nice.

OOF. I take back everything I said about the PDW. Once I unlocked some attachments, got through it pretty easily. Vector was a snap as well. This Chicom...wow. What a POS. Hope to unlock select fire?

Well, they nerfed the dual KAP40s and then I ran into a guy running dual B23s the other night and he just tore through everyone. I'd say they were even more accurate than the dual KAP40s were pre-nerfing.

Looks like I'll be running a lot if duel B23s until the next patch when they inevitably nerf it.

Impressive! We almost had a game together recently.

Oh, and the SCAR is now a 3 bullet kill from anywhere on the map. It's a little on the slow side, but that still makes it the most powerful AR.

I just switched from the MSMC to the SCAR as my go to weapon and getting a ton more double kills and long shots. I load it up with fast mag, target finder and FMJ.

For those going for diamonds on the SMG's, I've found that primary gunfighter, with Laser sight, Long barrel, and Adjustable stock works wonders. You just have to sacrifice your tacticals/lethals. You can breeze through pretty easily with that loadout.

Not necessarily, unless you want to double up on one of the perks. Primary gunfighter plus 3 perks is only 8 pts. I prefer not to use lethals once I get 100 headshots cause I don't want a letal kill to stop me from getting a bloodthirsty. I never use a secondary either after 100 headshots for that same reason.

True. I always run Lightweight/Ghost for the first perk though.

Working on shotguns! RSG and S12 are done, just a few bloodys short of the KSG, expecting the M1216 to be easy mode. So much fun, but I've watched too much ren/goat/maninblack and I die a lot. I'm a much better objective player, though, and my SPM is getting a nice boost too.

OOF. I take back everything I said about the PDW. Once I unlocked some attachments, got through it pretty easily. Vector was a snap as well. This Chicom...wow. What a POS. Hope to unlock select fire?
I still think the PDW is a POS. Pretty weak in close range battles but too much recoil to hit ppl accurately long range. Did not enjoy any moment of levelling it up but, that being said, I'm completely done now so I never have to use it again. Agree the Vector is sick though and a breeze. I'm on the Chicom now...contemplating doing the whole thing in Hardcore to reduce the burst fire frustration.BTW played on PS3 the other day and every single game was horribly, unplayably laggy, whether I was playing with Pollards et al or by myself. My NAT is moderate though so that might be the issue. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I still have more laggy games than smooth games ever since the post-Christmas patch. I was gravy before that patch and they haven't addressed lag/matchmaking since.

The "burst fire frustration" is an understatement. Any idea if select fire even helps? Not even close to that yet.
