Colston has Knee scoped (1 Viewer)

If this is true the timing couldn't be worse but the one position the Saints have tremendous depth is WR.

If you are playing Colston this week I would make back up plans just in case.

Also sleeper alert: Adrian Arrington has been a decent WR when he has been healthy. He is a big guy with a good skill set and speed. His problem has been staying healthy. Keep an eye on him.

Edit: This rumor has now been confirmed:

From Sean Paytons injury report

*****Payton said Colston had an arthriscopic procedure on his knee on Tuesday and did not practice. He's listed as questionable. *****

Colston had the procedure done on his right knee. Most of his past issues have been with his left knee

Payton on Colston surgery: "I don’t want to diminish the scope, but they just cleaned up some loose bodies"

Meachem is healthy at just the right time. How many weeks would this put Colston out? Also not good for his long term value either.

Meachem - 10 targets

Moore - 7-8+ targets

Henderson - 5-6 targets and probably a couple bombs will be dialed up against TB.

Graham - A lot

Bush/Thomas - 10 targets.

30-35 plus whatever Graham gets...Brees threw 49 balls last week so I don't think I am too off here.

The word is Colston is out 2 weeks starting tuesday Dec 28. So I am not certain but he could miss the 1st playoff game if the Saints fail to secure the #1 seed on Sunday. I look for the Saints to try to get the running game on track now. Ivory, PT and Bush all practiced.

Who on the Saints offense absorbs Colston's contributions? Does Ivory's return peg him as the featured rushing rb rather than Pierre? Pierre had a good number of pass targets this past week.

Ivory has been the most productive back this season. PT had a better out against Atlanta but he is not full strength IMO. I would bet they lean on Ivory a bit more considering what he did to the Bucs earlier this year. As for Colston's contributions I think Graham will see the biggest increase especially in the red zone, Moore will see some added looks and perhaps if he is active Adrian Arrington (Big Sleeper). Meachum and Henderson are more of deep route threats but they are reliable route runners of the two Meachum stands the best shot. If the pass protection and run game are working I see a big game for Meachum. If Brees feels the heat like in Atlanta, not so much.

How many surgeries does this make on colstons knees?
He had arthroscopic surgery on left knee (2008) then Micrfracture surgery on the left knee (2009) and then a follow up scope in the left knee. This right knee surgery (early 2010) and now a a right knee scope

This was a news story from Aug.

Marques Colston's offseason arthroscopic surgery was to his right knee, not the same one that was repaired with a microfracture procedure the previous year.

It's an important distinction, as Colston had already undergone two procedures to the left knee. He came off the active/PUP list as expected Tuesday and participated in a full practice. Though Colston feels 100 percent physically, the Saints are expected to ease him back in slowly over the next couple of weeks. He remains a Top-15 fantasy option.

So according to this he has two procedures to his left knee, then one on his right knee before this season, now another for his right knee. Knee surgeries galore!!

Colston is out for Week 17.

AJ may also be out for Week 17.

If both are out who would be the better Flex play for Week 17 and Keeper as a WR4 stash for next year........

Jacoby Jones or Meachem?

** Friday Update *** WR Marques Colston (NO) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

So he is playing or is the above incorrect?

The NFL is not going to require Sean Payton to talk about the knee surgery New Orleans wide receiver Marques Colston had on Tuesday, so the Saints' coach did not feel the slightest bit compelled to talk about it Friday with reporters.

All he would say is that Colston, the team's top receiver, is questionable for Sunday's game with the Tamp Bay Buccaneers (9-6). Colston, according to Payton earlier this week, had surgery to clean some things up in his right knee.

"I do hate to have any type of competitive edge that would work against us. I think injuries clearly in my experience can potentially do that," Payton said. "We'll list them. Just to discuss them, there's no benefit for us in regards to each week's game and really from our perspective, this is what the league requires. That's really it. The league doesn't require us to discuss the injuries from day to day, nor surgeries for that matter."

Colston did not practice on Thursday and it seems doubtful he would play, considering the Saints have a wild-card spot wrapped-up.

New Orleans can still claim the No. 1 seed in the NFC if the Falcons lose to the Panthers, and Payton has said the Saints will have all hands on deck to beat the Bucs, who have to win to get into the playoffs.

The other serious injury issue was running back Pierre Thomas (ankle) who was limited in Thursday and is questionable for Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Saints called-up receiver Adrian Arrington this week and he might get a crack at some the kick return duties with Thomas questionable and Courtney Roby on IR. Arrington, according to Payton, had some chances to hook up with other teams during the teams and be active, but chose to stay with the Saints.

"He's had opportunities and to his credit, at one point in the season, I won't get into teams, but he elected to stay and had an opportunity with another team on an active roster, which is pretty impressive," Payton said

New Orleans Saints receiver Marques Colston said he's unsure about his status for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he missed practice all week following arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. But he insisted that he would be back by next week at the latest.

"Next week is a definite," Colston said. "You know, I was able to get out and run around a little bit today and felt good. So we'll just see where I stand tomorrow. And at the very latest, next week I'll be on the field."

Colston said he had the surgery Tuesday to remove some loose cartilage that was getting caught in a knee joint and locking the joint up. But he described it as a "minor procedure" and said the team decided to do it because they knew it wouldn't sideline him for long.

"It's kind of been messing with me a little bit over the past few weeks," Colston said. "I banged it pretty good in the Ravens game (two weeks ago). And I think (Monday night), that turf in the Georgia Dome being so hard, it just flared up on me.

"So (we decided) to just go ahead and get it taken care of rather than have it nag at me all playoff run."

Colston, who has bounced back from a variety of surgeries on his left knee during each of the past three offseasons, said the timing of this latest surgery is disappointing. "But that's just life in this league," he said.

The AA hype from Bushisdaman...that guy is a possession WR last time I checked. I wouldn't say he could easily fill Colston's shoes.

In dynasty he is available everywhere and I don't think most are seeing what you are. I will say though the knees for Colston are going to be his undoing...DJax(Seattle) in the making perhaps. Career over by 28.
