Colts/Pats - Book It.

So the line opened Monday morning @ New England -4. Within hours, it was at 5 1/2, and is now up to 6 1/2. Obviously the majority of the action is on New England. This is an unprecedented game. And I thought Dallas/New England was an attention getter. But it suprises me just a little that the general public is giving so little 'betting' respect to the Colts. Im no gaming expert, but does most of the world actually see this game as a blowout?? What's your take? And what's your ideal spread?? Make a call.

i think 5.5 is probably about right....but im not expert. i dont expect the game to be a shootout like everyone else seems to think. i bet the under.

If this were any other game, I'd be sorely tempted to take the Colts. The books hate to lose big on a game like this.

I think you have to take the undefeated super bowl champs at home getting 6.5 from any team. If it goes to 7, it becomes a must-bet game IMO.

You know what's funny about the 'books', Fred. and of course others. They make a living off of trends, inside information to a degree, historical data, tendencies, matchups, etc, etc. This New England team is such an aberration, I think they must have those guys' heads absolutely spinning. Noone, not even Vegas, has ever seen anything like it. They cant create a spread wide enough. And for all of this talk about opposing defensive players, if the Pats crush Vegas in this Colts game, Ill be more worried about bounties coming from Vegas than from other teams. But from this established line, theyre expecting a close game. Probably a 3 or 4 point NE win. Ive got New England winning by 17. But I dont know squat.

I'm not so sure about the under, you would think that both coaches will try to use a ball control offense to keep the other offense off the field, but I'm not sure that either could get away with it.
