like a lot of things, medical state of the art has progressed a long ways...
in gale sayers time, an ACL tear was more or less a death blow to a career...
in napoleonic era, cavalry officers who's horses stopped suddenly, causing them to fall forward and break their foot in the stirrup (the circumstances which caused this injury to first be identified and named), i think sometimes amputation was the treatment...
few players have also had ruptured achilles in recent years, hopefully crabtree can come as strong as demaryius thomas... is the consensus that leshoure is hobbled, or just hasn't had a chance to prove himself with volume work load and get in a rhythm (my guess is he doesn't look as explosive as his former peak)...
some injuries are worse than others... the knee ligament or tendon injury suffered by cadillac is often cited as as pointing towards it being difficult to return to form (not sure if LCL, has to do with lateral or side stability, i think)... but it looked like he was coming back, and than he injured it a second time (also not sure if same or differnt knee, but devastating to his comeback either way)... this is the same injury suffered by ryan williams, and he admitted he was scared to go full out, especially cutting at full speed... so he will be a sort of test case for that in his second season removed from it (of course, he might not have chance to show where he is at if mendenhall dominates carries)...
