Commish Question (1 Viewer)

Our league has been using MFL the past few years. Prior to that we used CBS Sportsline. The majority of the owners have asked we go back to sportsline. As the commish, I love MFL, but I also like sportsline. Do any of you use CBS Sportsline and if so, would you recommend our league returning?

We have been a 12 team league for about 10 years. There was a suggestion that we expand to 14 teams. This is a redraft league (I might make it a two player keeper league). Would you recommend 14 teams or do you think it is too much and we should stay at 12?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks for the help.

We're a Redraft, just finishing our 10th season. The first 8 were on CBS, and the last 2 on MFL. I could just never go back, mainly for the absurd price that takes away from your prize pool. MFL's customization is second to none, and you can literally do ANYTHING you want to your site to tweak it to your league's particular needs, wants, and quirks.

I'm curious if you would link to your MFL site. I'm wondering if you're currently taking advantage of these customization options. You need to know your way around image editing, a bit of html, and just have a perfectionist's attitude to keep tweaking stuff until you find what you really like, but once you do, you may love it.

Here is my 2010 league on MFL, for example: http://www29.myfantasyleague.com/2010/home/18806

There are even tweaks and codes to make your site look as much like CBS as possible as this is a commonly heard criticism/desire.

other than the price cbs is great. I keep wanting to change but am too lazy, everyone loves the site plus all our hisotry is now on it, I'm sure I can inport to MFL if need be.

cbs is a good product but it costs a lot but still would you rather drive a lexus or have some crappy lowrider 1985 ford taurus with fins and neon under the car and flames on it

This was out league's first year on CBS. We were not too excited about the price but when we went to pay it was only $80. We used the extra money to buy a pretty nice league trophy. I'm not sure if it was a first year discount or if it was because we paid back in June.

It doesn't matter what we want or think abut MFL, if the majority of your league wants to move back to cbs then move back.

had one league on CBS for a few years seemed like the site went down one sunday every year. Never had a problem with MFL.

Following the infamous "Meachem Play" of 2 years ago, I was hell bent on finding a new host for our League. We've been in existence for 18 years, on CBS since it started. As I asked around, the only reason I'd ever hear to leave was price, and many that left did or were going to return to it. Does it have it's quirks, is it down at exactly the wrong times? Yeah. But I perceive some legit improvement in their performance. If the guys in your league want to return, and are willing to pay the extra $$, this is a no brainer. Our league is also a 12 team league. We draft 2 QB teams, 3 RB's, 4 WR's, 2 TE's and 2 D/ST. With 32 NFL teams, that leaves plenty of options in free agency. Each free agent move (we do allow a weekly I/R move) costs $1. Our free agent transactions generate enough money to pay our Super Bowl teams. The rest of the entry fees are awarded for full year total points winners (we pay down 5 places). We considered going to 14 teams last year, and after careful consideration, decided it would drain the talent too much, and we'd lose our transaction fee structure.Hope this helped.

Our league went through the same thing. I loved MFL but the league hated it and we had to switch back to Sportsline and now everyone is happy. We have had 14 teams before and it felt a little lucky with the sleepers on the bench. Instead of most sleepers being found on waivers a good portion were already on teams benches because the draft was deeper. This year we only had 10 and I felt it really diluted the QB position and everyone had a stud. I feel like QB should be really important so I will be pushing to get our league up to 16 teams with small benches.
