Commish that hasn't sent winnings (1 Viewer)

What some of the above posters are referring to is called by the Army, a Letter of Indebtedness. It can be very effective. I'd suggest going the certified letter route to him threatening this Letter of Indebtedness, then, if he doesn't come thru, do one. Normally those go to his CO, who then normally gives it to the 1st Sergeant to handle. Normally, as suggested above, it is very effective. If you are close to a military base you might even call their Legal/JAG office, and get the fine points on how to do this Letter, should it come to that. GOOD LUCK....
This is a great approach. If your winnings exceed $1000, however, and your choose to enforce your position, I would actually send it registered mail through a notary. This files and sends your information with a guarantee as to the contents of your letter. If it comes down to a legal dispute, usually whoever has the best documentation wins. Most JAG officers are high speed low drag when it comes to paper work (promotions pending), so it's better to make them your advocate from the get go. A little leverage doesn't hurt either. :excited:

What unit is he with BTW?
What files? You aren't going to make the JAG Officer your advocate here. The job is to advise the command not to enforce debts with a non-Soldier/airman. The only role JAG might play is if the command asks if the debt is legit (and that is where your documentation is a huge factor).

Thanks, noted... heavy eyes and typing not good combo.

Bump for an update:

Thanks to some help here in just tracking down an email and mentioning his 1st sergeant, I got a pretty prompt reply and payment will be sent by tomorrow.

While this thread turned more into a personal thread and was somewhat specific due to his involvement in the armed forces, would be nice in the future to find out other ways to help collect winnings and avoid these situations for others. Either way, thanks again to those who helped or offered to help.

I think league safe is the way to go for many on line leagues... I'm in some dynasty leagues that have been around forever, no worries there, but for new leagues or a commish you don't knw VERY well and have known for some time...league safe.LOL... that first shirt can make life very hard on a troop! What knucklehead on the first page said "good luck with that!".... moron.

I rarely look for follow ups, but let us know when you actually get the $. I'm hoping for the best of course, just call me skeptical for now based on his conduct.

Didn't receive my winnings in a dynasty league, $800, run by commish who called himself "Jetnation", he goes by the handle "Smizzy" here on FBG, but something tells me he won't be renewing his subscription. I few other owners paid him for the upcoming season also, and he is nowhere to be found now. This was just in my league, he also commished 2 or 3 other leagues that I know about and he hasn't paid those winnings out either. It is a risk to hand your $$$ to a total stranger and hope that he or she will fulfill their end of the deal, but, it looks like 99% of the commissioner's are honest and trustworthly, we just need to weed out that 1% and let the FBG community aware of who these guys are. I won't join a fantasy league now unless it is either an establish one or uses leaguesafe.
Sorry about the issue with that guy not paying. I remember him posting league openings here. I almost joined one of his leagues. I'm with you on the whole leaguesafe issue.

Happy for you, Gian. My advice of "not worth it" (which I knew you wouldn't listen to anyway  ) was wrong in this case.

This guy....known as "JetNation Juggernauts" (also seen him with that team name elsewhere) is in a league of mine. He hasn't logged on in over 96 days. He's AWOL everywhere it seems.

Found "Jetnation", "Smizzy", posting on a website called goalineblitz.com. I sent him a private message and he immediately denied it was him, but, he didn't fool me. He hasn't made a post since I contacted him and also he tried to delete his most recent postings. But if you want, you can join the site and then do a search on his postings for the past 90 days and if you read his comments, you can tell it is Smizzy, nobody has as as rude of a personality as he does. He also plays on a team in that league called "JetNation". The only reason I was able to locate him was from a member of Jetnation.com who said that Smizzy was playing on goalineblitz.com.

Also, he still is logging on everyday there, there is another search you can do to see most recent activity. From what I have been able to find out, I figure he has walked away with around $3,000, probably more. He is also still listed as a "moderator" on Jetnation.com (his name there is "Smurf"). You would figure that Jetnation.com would at least remove him, the owner of that site knows that Smizzy walked away with everyone's money.

The worst part is he took $$$ from owners for the 2009 season coming up.

Did some looking around and found this info. Looks like his name is Tom. Also born July-5 1977. Still trying to find something that lists his last name. Hey guys, here's the response from MFL I received in regards to having control of the league handed over to us:>Hi Scott,>>In general, we're not able to give commissioner control of a league to another person with out direct permission from the commissioner. Does Tom still have access to communicate via>email so he could send us a quick note to confirm that he wants to give up control? Let me know so we can hopefully resolve this quickly for you.>>>Thanks>MikeWhat do you think we should do? Reefers, can you try again to get a hold of Tom? There's no reason to not get a new commish in place if Tom can't be here to run the league. I understand the tough spot he's in, but at the same time if we can keep this league active, we should. The Grim Reefers Date Wed Jan 7 3:07:01 p.m. ET 2009 I emailed him the other day, feel free to try...smizzy002@yahoo.comhis cell is not his anymore, so I have no idea

He also posted this at his league message board -

This was posted in my other league 4th & Goal, so I figured I can post it here. Best thoughts to Tom.

Kevin ,

I am so sorry about not contacting you or the rest of the league sooner, I simply have had no way to retireve my passwords or use my email account & I was unaware you emailed. I am no longer welcome in my family home and that is where my CPU and stuff is. I have no access to my email account. My wife forwarded this to my yahoo account because I asked her to check for the retireved passwords. She sent this instead and it took almost 3 weeks to get it. Do you know if the others have tried to contact me? Was this the only E-mail you sent? She said this was the only thing she saw from 1st & Goal but she lies as easily as she breathes and her tongue is forked.

Please bare with me here. You & the other winners will get every penny I owe you guys. I have no intentions of ripping you off or screwing anyone. I have simply been put in a terrible position here and need a little time to pay you and the other winners. YOU WILL GET PAID. I am NOT a deadbeat ot someone looking to scam you. I still as of now don't know who won what in my leagues.

Everything I have was taken from me.my family,my home,my kids, my car, my money & my life. My money was joint stuff with a women I spent the last 15 yrs with and in the blink of an eye she cleaned me out & I was no longer welcome in our family home. She is doing her best to ruin me in every way possible. I'm not making an excuse,I'm simply giving you the reason & everyone deserves the truth and not BS. Just please try not to repeat the details of my personal stuff online,I do not know what she can see/ read and I do not want to make it impossible to see my kids in the future.

My Email address is smizzy002@yahoo.com , This is the only email address I can be reached at. I do not have access to the hvc.com one anymore so I can't retrieve anything in it. I will give you my new Cell# as soon as I get one. The old phone was on her plan and I'm not welcome to use that either .

I am a fool for putting the leagues money into my personal account and thinking it was safe there. I'm embarressed to even have to discuss my private life to explain this to you but It's just something else this ##### is forcing me through. I will need some time to pay you. I have others who need to be paid back also and I also need to rebuild my life from scratch with nothing. If you can work with me and give me some time to pay your I will make payments to you starting at this month to your paypal account.

PLEASE Email this to our league mates I do not want them thinking I have skipped town and that our league is done and if possible & I want the guys to have a way to E-mail me,I also run the GEDL (GridIron Elite Dynasty League) If you could figure out a way to get this to someone there to post. I'd appreciate it.

I know this is the last thing you wanted to hear on Christmas and I'm sorry to send this today. But it's this first chance I've had to contact anybody from my leagues and I wanted to get it out ASAP.Congrats on your winning the title and I hope we can work this out smoothly and I don't lose you as an owner for our league. You were a classy guy all yr and I am sorry this happened this way. PLEASE take some solice in the fact we made contact and I am giving you my word that you will get your money, As little as it is...It's all I can offer in my current position.

Tom ( Smizzy )

Q) How are you adjusting to the 3-4 defense? I noticed in the beginning of the season you had a tougher time shedding blockers. You seem to be doing a better job as the season progresses. What are you doing different?

Thanks, Hoss for finding the info on this guy. For the cell number that was in this post, can we handle that through PM?
Sure Jeff. I see you took it out of the post. I'll send it to you in a PM in case you didn't take note of it. Not sure if this one is the one that doesn't work anymore.

Hoss,Thanks for the help. It is appreciated, didn't want to have his personal info posted here, made me feel uncomfortable, so I ask that it be removed. I will be keeping my eyes open, he will pop up again somewhere and try to get into a league that someone here is in.Thanks again, Kevin
