Commissioner ethical question (1 Viewer)

CBS has a "Refer a Friend" program where you get $100 if someone registers for their FF Commissioner product and puts your name down. Question is does that money belong to you, or should it be shared with the other league members?

Keep it. I get no compensation as commissioner ( which is fine ), but it is a non-zero effort to do. This isn't coming out of the league, and isn't the league's money to begin with. Small perk for dealing with the typical FF season BS.

I'm a non-commish who plays on CBS and I agree that you should keep the money. Although I kinda wish we would take our league somewhere else due to the high cost...but that's a different thread :lmao:

Did you refer the friend, or did your leaguemates refer the friend?

Honestly if I received the 100 I would just use it towards the site fee the next year, and raise the prize pool by the 100.

I didn't think they actually gave you cash anyway, thought it was a credit

If it is just a credit to the website, then by no means should you somehow get cash out of the deal.

Similar situation....

I have a FBG subscription and get a rebate on MFL.com of like $10. It didn't even cross my mind to somehow get that $10 in my pocket. Just means as a league we paid less for the website and have more prize money.

Whether I get a credit or cash it makes no difference... If "I" refer someone else who signs up then it should be me who benefits and not the league! I have no obligation to refer anyone and neither does anyone in the league. Giving the league the money is just about as stupid as me giving my DirecTV "Refer a Friend" money to my neighbor just because he comes over and watches the games with me on Sunday!

Agree if it's a credit, I will put it towards the league, but pretty sure they're going to send me a check based on the paperwork I'm currently filling out. Actually, in my case a member of my league is the commish of another league. He switched that league to CBS and that's where the credit is coming from. Other option I have is to split it with him 50/50.

Personally, I think any league that is keeper, dynasty or redraft with BB waivers, should let the commish join for free. It really is a sucky job and I would not even blink if a commish suggested it.

I guess i should stipulate that for any league under $200 entry fee. But the truth is, if i had to commish a league, the only one I would do is a redraft with open (i.e. anytime) waivers.
