Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (1 Viewer)

I’ve been mostly off the concert train the last few years as our daughter was younger, but this fall we’re jumping back in with reckless abandon. Already on the concert schedule from Aug-Nov:

Franz Ferdinand (three weeks ago)
Arctic Monkeys
Killers
New Order
Gorillaz
Arcade Fire/Beck

Going to be fun
Catching New Order/Pet Shop Boys in Philly on the 25th
That’s the show I’ll be at as well

Nice. See you there

ETA: We’re seeing Heaven 17 Saturday night (24th) at the Keswick Theater too.

Just booked my annual 3 day December weekend. We go during the National Rodeo Finals because there is always a ton of entertainment in town. We mix country acts with something else. Example Chris Stapleton, Bruno Mars or Santana, George Strait. So far booked Miranda Lambert. Hope Silk Sonic will add dates. Have seen Aerosmith there so won’t repeat that. Could use Absinthe again too

The Fixx just played at the Keswick last weekend and it killed me to not be able to go

I saw them last year here in Tampa. They put on an amazing show.

Saw Band of Horses and Black Keys last night. BOH is one of my favorite bands. They were the second act, someone played before them but we didn't get there in time.

I was in the pavilion, and I was one of a small handful of people who was standing. I have to move/dance when I'm seeing live music. Not sorry. Some guy a few rows behind me was bitching. Who goes to a concert and SITS?

Saw a handful so far this year, but still have tickets to...

Michael Buble
Saw this and didn't know where to post.
I caught a few interviews with Buble and he's such a fun guy.
The heartbreaking story of the medical condition of his child and how he left the biz to stay with his family, his self-depreciating humor, and he's got an amazing voice.
He's really ****ing good and genuine celebrity who loves his fans. Awesome guy so I'm happy to share this since I have heard of the person that he gave a shout out to in his recent concert.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the Stone Pony Summerstage on Saturday night was amazing.

Their cover of Little Wing would have made Jimi proud. Guess he finally has enough songs to break away from his DBT days, as only the encore, Decoration Day, came from his DBT catalog.

I knew someone else from this board was going. No knock against their original stuff, but that little wing cover was the highlight of the night.

I’m a big fan so I loved all his originals as well - he’s a very underrated guitarist and the band was tight. The Drivin N Cryin cover was very good as well.
The band that played inside after was pretty great as well.

It does get a little awkward if you're there to see one of the openers and want to stand and dance. I understand if you don't know the openers and just want to sit, but don't be complaining about someone else looking to have a good time.

Got offered suite tickets once and passed, told the wife and she was like WTF so I called and said our plans changed and I could go

Was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed myself, he does have a pretty good sense of humor and was cracking jokes in between songs

recently saw Kansas in concert at a local casino. They were excellent and I love that electric violin.
They played 85 minutes, said goodnight, came back and played 1 encore song, Carry On my Wayward Son, to the delight of the crowd. End concert.

No opening act, 90 minutes total of music. I was hoping for more or should I be happy with this.

Hey Shuke.

Thunderpussy / Bush / Breaking Benjamin/ Alice in Chains coming up Saturday night.

Taking my 17 year old to a couple of their shows later this year. Alex G and Field Medic.

Fairly accurate.

You are going to LOVE this show!! Too bad the swapped out the LIFE Project as opener. Saw this a few weeks ago and am trying to catch it again on 9/23. I’ve never seen the same bands on the same tour, but this seems to be the year. Along with this potential double, today I scored Iron Maiden tix in Columbus on 10/7 to go along with the Detroit tickets I have on 10/9. :headbang:

We’re seeing Josh Ritter and Fruit Bats tomorrow.

I’m not a huge fan of Ritter and I’m not very familiar with Fruit Bats but my wife loves Josh Ritter—--so we’re going.

I must say though, I’ve listened to a few Fruit Bats albums tonight, including his song for song cover of Siamese Dream, and I like a lot of what I’m hearing. Could be a pretty good show.

The first time I ever heard the Fruit Bats is when Shuke drafted them in the Desert Island Album Draft. I like them. Have fun!

Arrived a little late so could only hear Thunderpussy in the lot walking in. Bush kicked ***. A band full of excellent guitar work and a great drummer. Lots of energy. Not a very big BB fan but they sounded great too. Just not a big cookie monster emo fan. Alice was also awesome. Obviously would have been better with Layne but his replacement is more than adequate. Seemed like the crowd probably skewed a little younger and was more into Breaking Benjamin, except when Bush and AIC played their hits. BB singer said it was their 20th anniversary and that his first concert as a kid was AIC. His second was Bush. Surreal to know be touring with them. Overall a great show. Nice to have live music back again. Outdoors and could have turned the humidity down a bit though.

Saw Robert Plant and Alison Krause last night at the beacon. I've been there 6 times now and that has to be one of the best indoor venues to see a concert. First off, the place is just gorgeous, the seating is very comfortable and spacious for those with seats somewhere other than the orchestra and the new sound system they installed is bonkers. The show itself was pretty good. Not necessarily my type of music (this was the girlfriends choice) but the drummer and one of the guitarists (also violinist) were fantastic and Krause can certainly sing. The highlights were really the zeppelin songs. I did enjoy the opener JD McPherson and hope to see him again when he comes around.

Saw Blackberry Smoke and Jamey Johnson on Friday. Didn’t realize Jamey was the headline act when I bought the tickets. Blackberry played an acoustic set which was cool but had never seen them before so I’d like to see their full show sometime

They also came out and played a few songs with Jamey, must have been 20 people on the stage

@krista4 , hope you’re still going to see Peter Hook and the Light in Vancouver tonight. It’s the last North American show. Should be great.

We actually ended up going to see them in Seattle last night instead! It was phenomenal. I'd intended to come in here today to thank you again for posting about it but got waylaid buying a new house. I want to look up his drummer. That guy was insane - maybe the best I've ever seen live.

It’s too bad his son, Jack (he’s now the bassist for Smashing Pumpkins), wasn’t with him on this leg, but the other guy is pretty good too. It’s cool to see two bassists (especially Hooky) live. I’m seeing the rest of the band (New Order) in Philly on the 25th.

Good luck with the house and I hope it comes with a suitable naan oven.

Yeah, it was very cool with the two bassists. Eager to hear how the show is on the 25th!

Been waiting 2 years for this show with the Pet Shop Boys co-headlining.

No. Having surgery tomorrow and will be non-weight bearing for ~8 weeks so no travel planning.

Oh man, you're laid up two months? Good luck with the surgery, but what's the deal?

Only actually laid up for a few weeks, then on crutches/scooter for 2 months. Have arthritis in foot, had a fusion surgery last January that never healed properly so have to have it redone.

Oh crap. I have to have this surgery (the fusion part) sometimes soon. This is worrisome. I'm sorry you're going through that.

With that said, I am still eyeing ADA seating at some local shows over the next few months, just not sure what I'll want to do, probably won't mess with weeknight shows for a while.

10/13/22 The Airborne Toxic Event
10/16/22 Kurt Vile
10/22/22 The Record Company
11/6/22 Yes
11/11/22 Twiddle
12/2/22 Ryan Adams
12/3/22 Trampled by Turtles

Reading this aged me.
Get better soon, can you get some of those handicap seats at shows while you're laid up?

Record Company was solid when I last saw them. Very talented.

Sea Hear Now festival on tap for this weekend. This will be my third time in a row going to it. The headliners are not as good in past years but really excited for some of the other acts including My Morning Jacket, Billy Strings, Cage the Elephat, Gary Clark Jr and the Head and the Heart.
