Concerts thread - FBG's lovin' live music, we're back in action! (2 Viewers)

Last Night @ The Stone Pony, Living Colour and George Clinton’s Parliament/Funkadelic.

Living Colour killed it, and P-Funk was a lot of fun. Great night at the Beach.

Had a pregame beer on the Boardwalk with @Pip's Invitation and he hung with me and my buddy Glenn for the show.

Did you catch Dispatch and John Bulter last night? Two great bands in one show. Always just blows me away how so few people know about John Bulter. He has to be the most talented artist (just crazy guitar playing, good vocals and song writing) that few have ever heard of. Love the poney. I see they have a few shows coming up at only $30 each. I'd certainly be going to more there if I was closer. I'll be back for the the Head and the Heart on 7/31.
I was at the Watermark - so heard some of Dispatch but wasn’t inside. Caught the end of Butler’s set while walking over.

✅ Flying to Denver in October to see Underworld again
✅ F it - just bought tickets to NIN here in PDX. $$$$ Boys Noize is opening...that sealed the deal.
✅ thinking about LCD Soundsystem the same weekend as NIN only in Bend, OR.

I’m still monitoring NIN prices for Detroit , probably more than I want to spend though (especially since I just dropped almost $500 for 2 tickets to Ghost)

I’m certainly not paying $100+/ticket for nosebleeds but if I can snag some decent seats last minute for $100-$150 each I might go

Phish last week in Columbus.

I thought it was great, but I always do. I saw some comments online that the setlist was "lame". I don't think those people really understand Phish.

There was also pre-day concern about not having a lot scene due to potentially higher security concerns on a college campus, but the venue seemed accommodating with a dedicated area to vendors. Only issue was no porta-potties or trash cans.

I'm in the pit for Philly for $160. Guess I should look up Boys Noize. They have to be better than 100 Gecs last time.

Ok, time to buckle up.

Tuesday: Yonder Mountain String Band/Railroad Earth/Daniel Donato
Wednesday: Leftover Salmon/Turnpike Troubadours
Friday: Lord Huron
Sunday: Greensky Bluegrass
Tuesday: Crane Wives
Impressive

I ended up skipping Leftover Salmon tonight. I'm now fitting a one night guys trip to Cleveland on Saturday and this may all be too much for this old man.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the Count Basie Theater was a great show. I had second row seats in a smallish venue - once they worked the sound out (first two songs were a bit muffled) the band and Jason's voice were in top form.

Two Drive-By Trucker songs (Danko/Manuel and Decoration Day) and some of his big solo songs - with a bunch of songs from his new album (which is great as well)

The new album is just him solo acoustic but other than the first song of the encore, Ride to Robert's (just him and Sadler with acoustics), it was full band all the way. Rocking show.

Yeah crowd was really into that one. I’ve had Lee Van Cleef stuck in my head for days

Was happy to hear Diamondback Sturgeon too

Debating Lord Huron but secondary market tickets here were pretty expensive
I am not sure the prices you are talking, but I might say it is worth it. My wife and I went last night and it just might be the best total package concert I've seen. The stage setup and visuals are stunning and their ability to enhance the storytelling nature of their songs through projections and dancers was fantastic. His music hits me emotionally anyway and I will admit there were a couple times where I was getting choked up by the experience.

The opener for our show was Lee Fields, and that was also a blast. My wife and I both thought he was probably the best opener we have seen for a concert too. I had never heard of him before a couple weeks ago when I looked to see who the opener was, so I listened to a couple albums and really dug them. He has an old school funky James Brown feel and it was a really fun performance.

Looks like the cheapest tickets are $150 each and that’s for back row. Unfortunately it’ll probably be a pass for us but we’ll see

Does not look like the same opener for Detroit show (S.G. Goodman and Jackamo…2 different people )

Huh. Shuke was at the Indy show and it was a different opener than both of those. Interesting. Fields did a couple from a recent album, such as:

Ghost tonight. Should be quite the experience
That should be a good one. I didn't know they had a new one, I might check that out. I've been listening to too much King Diamond lately, and I always thought these guys would be up my alley, but they never seem to 100% land for me. Not sure why.

Folks might recognize Lee Fields from that Corona jukebox commercial from a while back.

I'm the Man

They did that one last night too and he mentioned a commercial during the Super Bowl? I didn't have a clue what he was talking about.

Not gonna lie half the reason I’m going is for the people watching. First time seeing them, not a huge fan or anything but figured it’s worth seeing them once

Justin Timberlake is getting absolutely roasted for his European tour. Fans complaining that he barely sang a note in his entire set and instead just had the crowd singing. Not surprised as his man of the woods concert was the absolute worst I’ve been to in 40+ years.

that was a great concert. It’s interesting because the band is playing some awesome metal riffs and then you have a singer that sounds like the dude from journey or Styx singing ballads about the devil…all while everyone’s dressed up like extras from the Haunted Mansion. Whoever the Nameless Ghoul on lead guitar was could really play

I recognized more songs than i thought I would and they definitely work in their hits

As far as the production and staging and everything absolute 10/10 there…some really cool visuals especially as you get later into the show. Crowd was completely into it too

It's been a rough week to get through, but alive and kicking.

Yonder Mountain String Band/Railroad Earth/Daniel Donato was a fun show. I enjoy when these bluegrass/country bands jam out a bit, but it veers toward country too much for these bands to be must-see for me.

Lord Huron was great. Show was on the day they dropped their new album, which has a few songs I really like. As KarmaPolice noted, their stage setup is pretty cool and they put on a great show, although I personally didn't get much out of the performance dancers. This was at Everwise Amphitheater in Indy. We had never been there, and we thought it was an awesome venue. Covered pavilion with plenty of room, and a small lawn area behind, but not too big where the show still feels intimate. We had pit tickets and got there early to be in the second/third row.

Greensky Bluegrass - similar comment above about bluegrass, but these guys jam a little more so I enjoyed it more. They played through a torrential downpour that made things interesting.

Crane Wives with the family, this is my daughter's favorite band. We got there shortly after doors opened, but I had never seen a line at Bogart's like this. Unfortunate since my daughter is short and we ended up in the back half of the floor. This band is a lot of fun.

Saw Car Seat Headrest in Chicago with the family a few days ago. Hadn't seen them since 2016 Teens of Denial tour.

Kinda cool to see them play a bigger venue like the Salt Shed fairgrounds. Crowd was a cool mix of old people, kids, hippies, punkers, emo, trans, furries...you name it, they were there.

I honestly haven't been following their music post Teens of Denial and they really didn't play any old stuff other than Drunk Drivers and Beach Life-In-Death/My Boy medley, but really liked the show. They probably played their new one Scholars in it's entirety, and although I only casually listened to it a few times when it came out, I really dug it live.

STOMACH BOOK opened. Never heard of em before and thought they were cool. Musically reminded me of The Garden; punky noise pop/rock. Taking the fam to Dino Jr. next. Wanna show them who gave me tinnitus.

My son was interested in seeing The Offspring in NJ
Figured why not, I know plenty of songs
Was an awesome time.
Would definitely watch them again

Also monitoring NIN prices in Philly at the end of the month.

Will Oasis prices ever be less then a Bryant Boat?
That's what I say about Billy Strings tickets. I mean he is good but its not like its a Beatles or Pink Floyd concert.

Going to see Molly Tuttle in October. I can't wait love them flat pickers.

I’m extremely disappointed with her new record but obviously she knows what’s best for her and her career. I’ll be interested to hear how this tour goes. I’m sure her guitar will still shine through. She dropped most of her old band Golden Highway and I’ve not yet heard much about the new group.

I like the offspring and have seen them in the past but they were playing at a large outdoor amphitheater with 2 other bands I didn’t really care for so I wasn’t too interested. That show ended up being canceled for a power outage anyway

Probably too big for smaller venues now but I’d absolutely go see them in that type of setting again

I just don’t think I can justify NIN prices either so likely skipping that unless I find some last minute deal

Eh I don’t know Billy might be the best touring act in music right now. No current Detroit stops planned though so haven’t seen recent prices

That is true. Saw him in St. Augustine it was a great show. Thing was I had to use Ticketmaster cost me $150 per ticket secondary sales . That's probably why .

I'll let you know. Its a great little venue she's playing in. Back in the day Orlando only had 2 movie theaters until the Plaza opened. Its claim to fame was that its theater seats rocked back and forth. It was called the Plaza rocking chair theater. We were easily impressed back in the day. Learned my lesson about secondary tickets bought straight from the venue $47.50 not too bad.

New Found Glory and Jimmy Eat World
Didn't have much interest in them

My son likes Blink, so considering a night up in Bethel, NY on a Saturday night in Sept
