Conference tournament thread. Because separate threads suck. (1 Viewer)

Next year Louisville can win 3 straight conference titles in 3 different leagues.
Isn't that crazy? Louisville also won the C-USA a couple years after they hired Pitino, definitely won the Metro a few times in the 1970s and 1980s, and might have won the Valley once way back in the day. That's a lot of titles in a lot of different conferences.

Hail to the Buff and Blue!

All our lives we'll be proud to say,

I hail from GW!

Well we lost to to VCU in the A-10 (or how ever many there is in that conference), but this article from ESPN says important stuff:

The Colonials are out, but the season isn't over. They should be getting a spot in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007.
When your school doesn't have football, and their basketball usually isn't very good, this is exciting!!!
Fellow GW alum, and GW season ticket holder here. Great to see them competitive again. Not sure they are poised for a tourney run, but will be good to see them in the tourney again.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu got any eligibility left?

Seemed like a weak T on coach K. I mean if you can't throw your marker at your own assistants, who can you throw them at?

before Pops, the early/mid 90s run was awesome. That win over #1, undefeated Umass at the Smith Center was epic. I met my first sitting US President that day

He did that after Jamie Luckie explained the T to him. They never showed what he did or said to actually get the T.

Hope he was standing and cheering!

I remember back when I was in school (88-92) we had a season where we were 0-15, the only team in Division 1 without a win. We beat UMASS at The Smith Center, rushed the court, tore down the nets, and lost the rest of the season!

Think the refs have Virginia confused with **** Bennett's 2000 Wisconsin team that helped change some rules to stop heavy D pressure. They've gotten away with a good deal considering the rules emphasis this year. And still shoot 3X the FT? Parker himself should have more FTs than Duke has shot this game, he's been beaten every time down low.

Virginia goes out early in the tourney if they get refs that are at all like the officiating at the beginning of the year. Probably why they struggled non-conference and with them not getting ACC refs who laxed up on those rules, they are in trouble.

Don't know what the call was for, but loved seeing Coach K get teed up. His behavior and constant berating of officials is embarrassing.
That long moment of Dickie V silence as Virginia iced this was possibly the best moment of TV this year. Had the teams been reversed, he'd have been loud and disgusting and typical.

I'm beyond pumped for this UM-MSU game. I think Levert is the key and needs to be effective on both ends of the court. He has a chance to shine today.

Levert has looked great lately. He will be key if Michigan is to make a run. I really don't think this game matters for the seeding. The committee doesn't make too many last second changes.

I care more about beating MSU than a 1 v 2 seed

Hawks win! A10 champs!
Glad they won it. The A10 will make some noise.
6 teams?
It will be either 5 or 6. VCU, Saint Louis, UMass, GW, and St Joe's are all in, and Dayton might grab one of the last at-large bids.
Coach K:

"I'll get in trouble probably for saying it. Like the Atlantic 10, they're a really good conference. I hear people saying there are six teams in there. Come on. I mean, they're good, but put them in our conference and go through the meat grinder that our conference has to go through. But really ... our league should get more respect. The fact that Pitt comes in here and people are saying they have to do something, come on. Come on, man. I don't get it. The Clemson team we played [Friday] night is a heck of a basketball team."

Every member of the Bracket Project has Pitt in the field, ranging from 7-10 seed. That's higher than the seed St Joe's will get, and higher than Dayton would get if they make the field.

If Dayton doesn't make it, it would likely be to make room for NC State or Florida State. All three of those teams have similar resumes.

Clemson isn't that good. Coach K is saying that to cover his ### for Duke losing at Clemson by double digits. If Clemson was good enough, maybe they would have beaten UMass in their neutral court game over Thanksgiving, or not lost to Auburn.

UM on 2 4+ minute FG droughts. Solid D by State
The foul troubles with Morgan/Horford are killing UM in every way. Their offense really depends on those guys setting picks and and giving handoffs. Max Biefeldt is really not able to fill that role.

Horrible officiating at the start of the game. Morgan and Horford in foul trouble within 2 minutes. I didn't think any of those were fouls. Some of the calls even came from the ref on the opposite side of the court. Then the refs spend the next 10 minutes trying to make up for those blown calls.

um has no inside presence and the 3's are not going down right now.Harris is on fire today.
Spartans have incredible talent and it's all coming together now.

Well they certainly aren't calling anything this half.

Reffing has been atrocious the entire game. But that what you get with B1G refs. awful.

Yep, they got a run in them for sure

Thought this was finally going to be the game where UF's free throw problems would catch up with them.

Just a silly thing to say. Right now the A10 is tied with the ACC for 5th.

I haven't watched a second of NCAA hoops this year but I'm here to proclaim myself an expert and enter at least a grand in various pools.

I don't get the love for Louisville. They are playing great basketball at the right time which is just par for the course for Pitino. However, their resume is nowhere near a #1 seed.

1-3 vs. RPI Top 25

4-5 vs. RPI Top 50

Their SOS is 97.
Nailed it. They are going to make a deep run I think.
