have you ever been to Pittsburgh? If so, you got Tim beat on the fan scale.
That's not fair; he's closer.
You are both fandom abominations. Bell more than you, as he's a flat out traitor. Then again, you can understand why no one would wish to associate themselves with the worst fans in the multiverse in the Eagles.
thanks? i blame my father hes the same way

I don't give a crap about Denver, Seattle, or Pittsburgh.. they are all cities I neither love nor hate.

But I am a champion of the best team winning and for games to be called correctly, and the Seattle vs. Pitt Super Bowl was one of the worst atrocities in officiating I've ever seen and it's pretty clear to me the best team didn't win on the field that day.

It wasn't as bad or egregious as the 2006 NBA finals where the Mavericks were robbed in the worst way possible, but it was pretty close.
I am not sure why you think Seattle was the better team that day. Up until the last drive when the Seahawks were down by 11 and the Steelers defense was in prevent defense, the Steelers offense had outgained Seahawks. The difference in the game was two huge plays for the Steelers offense: a 75 TD run by Parker and the 43 yard Randel El pass to Hines Ward.

As I said earlier if you want to be pissed at anyone be pissed at Holmgren. He made several horrible coaching decisions that cost the Seahawks dearly.
I felt as if the Steelers shouldn't have been in the game to begin with.

The NFL shouldn't even have a playoff format where 5/6 seeds make it...

Pittsburgh shouldn't have been in that game.

Let me make it clear that I am fine with Pittsburgh, I like Big Ben, and I'm grateful that a good Steelers team denied a 9-7 team from winning the superbowl.. even if it did happen shortly after that.

I cannot wait until they add more playoff spots and a 7-9 or 8-8 team win the superbowl and finally everyone is like... um.. why did we even have a regular season again? oh, it's nearly worthless? ok, I won't watch... just like how it's not worth watching the NBA regular season because they accept so many teams into the playoffs...
Okay that is definitely a different argument and one that I am not in total disagreement with you. A 9-7 team has no business being in the post season.
If they win their division they do

Ok, but Seattle got a TD called back on a OPI call that would have given them a lead. They also were called for phantom holding on a ball thrown to Stevens down to the 5 yard line when the game was 14-10. Since you want to get into this, I'll play along.
And here I thought you didn't care. The offensive pass interference was a good call, as was the holding penalty.
Bill Leavy disagrees, as does anyone with a brain.

Wait, wait, wait, I've only barely been reading this thread because it seems ridiculous (any objective viewer saw Seattle get hosed on some calls, it's debatable whether they would have won otherwise). But I just read that Tim, who started such a ridiculous thread as a shot against the Seahawks and to defend his team, had the gall to do it when he jumped on the Steelers bandwagon when they won (not too bad, since he stuck with them) but has never even been to Pittsburgh!?!?!?!?

TRUTH.

Holmgrem was out coached by Bill Cowher, let that one sink in.

That Big Ben TD was so close it could of went either way, replay couldn't clear it up and Holmgrem absolutely lost his #### over that call and in doing so his team lost their composure and ultimately the game.

In Superbowl XL, Pittsburgh defeated Seattle 21-10. Pittsburgh won because they had the better team and played a better game. They defeated Seattle on the field. Although there were some close calls by officials, almost all of them were correctly called. The officials did not decide the game; the Steelers did.

However, ever since this game, fans of the Seattle Seahawks have whined about it, and refused to admit their team was beaten. Maybe if Seattle wins this Sunday, they will stop behaving like little #####es.
I didn't watch the game at all... but I know you're wrong.

Seems like no Seattle fans are complaining, the thread was started by a Steeler. A bunch of neutral people think the Hawks got jobbed.

And yet people will somehow ##### about Seahawk fans.

It's pretty simple. The Steelers made plays while the Seahawks made penalties. It wouldn't surprise me to watch them try and cheat their way to a title, again. Hopefully, they learned their lesson.

I guess to be a fan of a particular team you have to be born and rasied in that city, and never move from it. Makes sense.
Yeah, I'm not sure I understand this. Seems weird defending Tim, but dude's been a fan of a team since he was 10. He has been a fan for 35 years. Why is that not considered a "real" fan?
I think this is largely a function of the fact that he adopted a team that's never had a significant "down" period.

To use myself as a counter-example, I'm a Bills fan who grew up in Indiana and now lives in South Dakota. I went to several Bills games when Indianapolis was in the AFC East, and a few years ago I took my son to a Bills game in KC, but I've never been to a Bills home game. I've only been to Buffalo once, and that was on a college road trip. I do my best to follow the team on TBD, and sometimes I get the impression that I'm the only Bills fan alive who actually likes Jerry Sullivan, but yeah I'll grant that I miss out on something by not listening to live radio and local television. Having said that, I've stuck with this team through the longest current playoff drought in the league. I think that entitles me to a certain degree of credibility. If I ran into somebody who was a fan of Cleveland or Detroit or Oakland or hell even Seattle for 30+ years despite never living there, I would think they've earned their stripes.

Pittsburgh fans are a little different though. That's the rust-belt city that everybody picks as an adopted team, purely by coincidence I'm sure.

- Looks like the ball broke the plane to me, just as I thought when it happened.

- That was a 3rd down play, not 4th...they would have no doubt scored a TD from the 1 inch line.

Pittsburgh's had some losing seasons. Am I supposed to apologize because they've never had very many in a row? Was I supposed to know that when I was 10?

No, I just just tend to doubt people's attachment to a team when they've never gone through a losing spell.

Also, :lmao: at "some losing seasons." You don't know what losing seasons are.

I remember Big Ben said on the David Letterman show after the Super Bowl that he didn't think he crossed the goal line.

I didn't care who won that game. I liked the Seahawks at the time, because I had Shaun Alexander on my fantasy team for several years, and I wanted him to get a ring. I also wanted Bill Cowher to get a ring, because he used to play for NC State, and I wanted him to win a championship. I thought it was a poorly officiated Super Bowl, and the majority of bad calls went in the Steelers favor.

I became a giants fan in 2000. Ive never really experienced a losing spell either but I was born and raised in ny

No one cares or wants to talk about when the officials' calls go against the Steelers. It's like it just doesn't exist around here.
Horse hockey. Plenty of people talked about the major breaks the Chargers got in that game against the Chiefs that let them into the playoffs and kept the Steelers out. But keep playing the victim, by all means.

As long as ImTheScientist is alive, I will root against Seattle. If I ever learn of his death, I will probably change my tune.

I live in a state with no teams.

Our college teams are crap.

The NFL teams I chose as a child to support and still support to this day are Pittsburgh and Detroit.

The NHL teams I support are the Penguins and the Stars.

The NBA teams I support are the Charlotte Hornets (don't exist anymore, #### the NBA).

The MLB teams I support are the Tigers and the Mets.

The only college teams I support are NC State and Air Force.

Go #### yourselves "homer" whiners, other than Dallas and Charlotte, I haven't been more than an airport stay in any of those cities. I have almost been involved in more foreign wars than than sports cities. Also go Peyton, #### Seattle.

Did I just randomly jump into a wormhole that took me back to 2009? Stop it, its so far gone.

Schlzm

But you will have to explain to me how you're an NC State fan and aren't rooting for Russell Wilson.

Do yourself a favor and quit trying to act like the crowd. I would have thought you were above this, but here you are acting like the nerd that wants to be accepted by the cool crowd.

You should just be embarrassed.

What coaching decisions?

The greatest part about Seattle and Holmgrem burning up all that valuable time while trying to get that "right" 3rd down play call in from the Steelers 36 yard line, was that they were in a hurry up offense, it was right before half time, and after all the confusion, deliberation, and scurrying around, right before the snap, as the play clock had just about wound down to zero, Cowher called a Time Out.

What a massive burn, all that time lost, for nothing. Holmgrem got to stew about that one through a commercial break, come halftime he looked like an Irishman, lost in the desert, without any sunscreen, while taking an Accutane treatment.

Ben's TD- Could of went either way and they could not overturn it because of a lack of conclusive evidence. Any rational person can see that through a thorough breakdown of the play.

Jackson Offensive PI- Tunch Ilkin on the steelers broadcast said it was ticky tack, It was either Warren Moon on the Seahawks broadcast or John Madden who said said you can't do that in front of an official in the End zone and get away with it. Both are right. Jackson did Push Off, it wasn't an egregious shove, but he did push off to gain separation. anybody who says other wise has not seen the tape or is incapable of being honest with themselves about this play.

I've been to 60 countries and 30 states.Give me a list of who I can root for please.

TRUTH.Holmgrem was out coached by Bill Cowher, let that one sink in.

Also the preferred nomenclature is "Rapelersberger."
I hate the steelers. He will always be rapistburger to me
If we evaluate people and teams by the quality of those who dislike them, this just elevated the Steelers and Ben to Hall of Fame standards.
