Contract Cap Guidelines? (1 Viewer)

First let me apologize if this is in the wrong forum, I looked at the assistant coach but this really did not seem to fit there.

Looking to set up a salary cap/contract cap league. I want owners to have a set number of of contract years to alot to all players on roster, what is best guidelines for determining that set number of contract years? (ex. 2 x number of roster spots ??)

Part 2 of this question: we are going to use a salary cap w/ auction draft to determine salary ... if you use a a contract year cap, is it customary to still have salaries increase every year or are salaries normally fixed until the end of the allotted contract.

I have looked at the rules for some leagues running similar formats(found a few, not many) looking for input from people who actually play in a league of this type. Also links to contract cap league rules would also be helpful.

Thanks

Our cap only goes up 5% per year, but contracts escalate 10%. Each owner can manage his contracts (1-5 yrs) any way he/she wants as long as you stay under the cap. If you arent, then your whole team is illegal until you get rid of someone.

Allocate 2x the first year and then each additional year give 1.5x more, carrying over unused contract years.Teams take a cap hit for every year a player is under contract of 50%. You can eat it all the season he is cut. The last year of a contract is considered an option year and the team does not take a cap hit for this year but still burns a contract year.Contracts go up 10% per year (15% for rookies). You can extend a contract one year beyond it's original term for a 25% increase.Undrafted players are signed to 1 year max contracts.Contract years and cap space are commodities that can be traded as well as the transaction fee for the trade
