Polar Bears hunt and eat humans. Are you crazy?
Take him to Cabo.
About two years too young (IMO) but keep this in mind. My h.s. junior went to Huntsville with a group of peers and still talks about it 4 years later.Space camp
A really good bonding experience that he will never forget it is to have the chauffeur teach him to drive
Maybe take him to see where Au Pair's are made?

True fact: Joe Pesci hates the ponies, he's never been to the Derby. Said something about every time he went to the track they would try to #### him. So, he steadfastly refuses to ever set foot in Churchill Downs. In all seriousness, if you would have thought of this in May you could have taken him to the Derby with Pesci. File that nugget away for next year.
This is what you use my helicopter idea for.Find an out of work, down on his luck, black man to be his toy for the week.
did hebrew his own beer too? When i was about that age my dad took me to the playboy club in new jersey. Unfortunstely i do not have any wild memories of the time but, maybe my dad does. That particular place has been sold a gew times over since then, but ...you get the idea.
Space camp
Remember, this is Chet we're talking about here.Space camp
they have a family program there: http://www.spacecamp.com/space/family
also, they have other stuff to do at the museum - rock climbing wall, a ride or 2, etc.
if your son digs space/science, this would be a great trip.
I am definitely going to look at space camp closely. I think he'd love it.Space camp

They have the last week of October off.Doesn't he have school in late October?
Can't imagine that outside of school trips there would be a lot of kids around.
Churchhill is a hell hole. Unless you plan on flying in and out in a day or two, don't waste your time.I will have about a week in late October with my son and I am looking for something cool to do with him while my wife is away with our daughter.
Anything theme park related is out.
One idea is going to look at Polar Bears in Churchill, Manitoba.
Anyone other ideas?
well ok then. first I've heard of that week being taken. They have the last week of October off.Doesn't he have school in late October?

So theme parks are out, but tack on the added risk of listeria or norovirus and it's a-ok?I am definitely going to look at space camp closely. I think he'd love it.Space camp

One idea is a resort where he could learn scuba diving and go surfing and fishing. The issue is that since it's off season, I'm not sure there will be a lot of other children around.
Another is a Disney cruise. I've never been on any kind of cruise but there will certainly be kids and fun activities for him.
That Belize trip looks awesome. That's definitely on the list when the kids get a few years older.Caves Branch Adventure Company and Jungle Lodge - Belize - sleep in a treehouse, go cave tubing, climb waterfalls, the "black hole drop". Place is awesome and they're great with kids.
Or if you're really looking for an adventure, October is when the Bull Red Drum migrate and you'll never have a better time to catch one in the surf. Rent a 4WD pickup camper and take the ferry over to Portsmouth Island, NC. There are no roads on the 13-mile long island, you just drive/sleep on the beach. Be sure to bring everything you need. They only sell 2 things there, ice and diesel.
Do that in Belize on the barrier reef there, the only reef better is the great barrier in Australia. And scuba is amazing, but snorkeling is also a blast and if he likes fish/ocean life he will love it.I am definitely going to look at space camp closely. I think he'd love it.Space camp

this was going to be my suggestion. Zion National Park in Utah. You can fly into Vegas.Angel's Landing
The Narrows
I like the Polar Bear viewing idea, but hunting them would be better.I will have about a week in late October with my son and I am looking for something cool to do with him while my wife is away with our daughter.
