Costco Love <3 (1 Viewer)

Has anyone bought furniture from Costco before? Is it a pain to assemble?

We bought a dining set (big, round table with six chairs) from the local Costco and I’m debating on opening the box or just getting a handyman to put it together.
That's only a 1 beer project. You got this.
Meh. There's at least two beers worth of procrastination before getting started.

Pretty much. I was going to say 1 warm-up beer, 1 during, and 1 celebration beer after it's done.

UPDATE:

It was a piece of cake. The chairs were already assembled and had little levelers at the bottom that needed to be adjusted a little. For the table, we just had to attach the legs and the "stretcher", which is the cross posts that conned to the legs under the table top. Very easy assembly.

I will say, though, Costco goes nuts with the cardboard packaging. They literally had empty cardboard boxes inside the packaging as extra protection for the dining table/chairs. Our recycling guys are going to hate us this week when they see all this cardboard.

We've been sharing a card with my mother in law the last 5 years. I went there on Saturday and they said they would let me slide this time but would have to get my own card as they are now checking IDs and they have to match.

There are two people per membership. Not sure if your MIL has another person on her account already, but if not, she could add you or your wife. My wife and I are on our account and my oldest son has his own (not Executive). I have another son going away to college on Wednesday and I am still not sure if I will add him because there is no Costco close to school like my oldest had. My youngest has his license so it might make more sense to add him so he can shop there the next couple years.

Yeah, my wife is already on the card with her which is why they let me use it this time.

Got checked at self checkout today. Wife got checked last week and didn't have ID so stormed out without the goods.

Optometrist appointment at 11:00 - in-and-out in 20 minutes with no need to get my eyes dilated due to some new scanny thing, and the doc wrote me a very marginal prescription so I can essentially get a nice pair of sun glasses for free with my insurance...add a Chicken Bake for lunch and I'm home by 11:40. Continue to find new reasons to love this place.

Any of you folks in on this magical concoction? Costco sells a bigger version of this and it's become a monthly staple in our house. Delicious! Vegan too!

What do you use it for? Just a chip and veggie dip, or other stuff too?

Yeah, it's fantastic with chips, carrots, pretzels, etc but I also like to put in on sandwiches, burritos (I'll use this instead of sour cream) tofu scrambles. They have a bunch of different varieties but Costco sells the bigger sized version of the Chipotle and that's just perfection, so haven't tried to find the other spreads.

Well if it's vegan...

:lmao:

My wife turned into one of those a few years ago. Not as bad as I imagined and it's led to some healthier habits for me. Still a fat tub of gooo, but with a reduction in meat, it's a low-T version of a fat tub of gooooo. A loveable, peaceful goooooo man.

Sounds like they want some of that Netflix "No Sharing!" action

Unless we mention "Heat Culture" that is...

Got a free membership to Sam's Club. After having a membership for years at Costco, I'm coming around to the idea that Sam's Club is better, especially for snacks.

I have both. Sams Club scan n go is a freaking game changer. Costco just barely got basic digital membership cards in the app and they don't even work half the time. Parking lots are always much better too. And you can actually get the cheap gas because it's not 7 cars deep.

Costco is awesome, but the easy in and out of Sams Club is pretty darn nice for getting 90% of the rest of the Costco experience.

Had a BJs open near me with gas station. Checked it out and liked it. A little smaller than Costco and Sams.

What I like is they had deli stuff cut to order so you don`t have to but 5 lbs at at time. Same with the meat and fish items.

Any BJs feedback. Have not pulled the trigger yet.

Sam's way better for me here than Costco. Costco just so busy all the time, it's maddening trying to park, navigate the aisles, etc.

Most of what we buy we get at Sam's. That said, Costco has a few select items and occasional sales that makes it worth it.

Big difference for me is BJs offers coupons pretty much all the time on their app for the staples I buy (TP, paper towels, toothpaste), where as Costco doesn’t offer coupons. In fact, BJs will issue new coupons on some items right before the prior ones expire, so you can time it to get double savings. Just did it last week on electronic toothbrush head replacements where they offered two $10 coupons.

Costco has monthly sales. They send you a booklet in the mail. I call it my costco porn.

Agree, my point was there is typically always a coupon at BJs where Costco I have to wait a few weeks for the item to go back on sale.

The Costco booklet is one of my monthly mail highlights.

Yep. I try and time my buys based on the monthly coupons so I’ll buy anything we use when it’s on sale. Stuff like laundry detergent, replacement toothbrush heads, Cascade, etc. is on sale a lot so it’s pretty easy to time and save a nice % consistently.

Costco now has a warm chocolate chip cookie at the food court, it’s fn amazing
Gives people the poops! :D

only ate about a 1/3 of mine and so far I'm fine 12 hours later. I plan to eat the rest over the next 2 days but with the liquor and every other vile thing I consume I'd be shocked if this did anything to me.

Gold Standard Whey Protein 5.5lbs that sells for $64.00 is $48.00 this month. 3 flavors available.

We go through a 5.5lb bag about every other month so am good for a while. All other proteins and vitamins are always on sale in January at Costco so load up if you take anything.

I'm looking at it as one of those challenges. I ate the rest of the bag of salmagranola with no effects. Surely I can crush this thing too.

Admirable. I'm sure in my entire life I've never eaten just part of a cookie and saved the rest for later.

To be fair it's freaken massive and the sugar rush was intense, I'm pretty sure I would have felt sick had I eaten the whole thing.

Who hurt you? Not sure who needs to hear this, but I can confidently say that I have never eaten any less than an entire cookie (or 10)

Had a free membership at Sam for a year but did not renew. It was OK but Sams does seem to bring in a little of the Walmart crowd.

Never been in a costco and/or sam's. The ex went to Sam's when we had a membership and would buy a **** ton of stuff, and spend a **** ton of money. Now that its' just me and a son that is away at college, would it be worth looking into getting a Costco membership?

Probably not BUT -

I have the COstco Visa - I use this pretty exclusively and get back 1000-1400 bucks every year. THe costco membership fee is billed once a year to the card.

THe wife and I buy things maybe 2-3 times a year now. If we are having a party, bought a TV when needed. Maybe some vitamins.

So our purchases actually form Costco are low. Mostly online. I use them for Car rentals regularly though.

YMMV

Its just me as well and I personally get everything except a few small things from there. The 2% back with the executive membership pays for itself.

I am the same, the Toilet paper and laundry detergent savings alone basically justify it

Costco membership is worth it for the gas money alone. Add in some bulk items like TP, paper towels, drinks, and some nice prices on meat plus the refund certificate at year end .... it's worth it.
